Answer: Astrel and Maja

The map on the first page shows four islands in the harbor. They are Cresent, Maja, Astrel and Bit. I wonder where those names came from?

2. What does Tris take as a personal insult?

Answer: clear skies

"'Look at this, will you? A good, steady wind and not a cloud in the sky.' Tris loved storms. She took clear skies as a personal insult." Tris likes to watch storms be born.

3. Which temple ran so low on bandages that Sandry and Lark had to make more magically?

Answer: Water

A Water Temple novice didn't realize that the stores of bandages were so low. The temple ran low because some of its best weavers were injured in the earthquake. Lark promises to teach Sandry real weaving later.

4. What do starlings do until they are fed?

Answer: peck their parents

Rosethorn tells Tris this when she first tries to feed Tris's starling. Rosethorn likes birds and knows a lot about them. Tris has fun feeding her bird every hour on the hour.

Daja sees what she thinks is an azigazi while working on the spell net in the harbor. It turns out to be a pirate scout ship spelled for invisibility.

Daja and Frostpine are the only smith mages at Winding Circle. Daja is the only one who can help fix the chain. She tells Frostpine, "I'm the only other one with smith magic at Winding Circle. I'm the only one who can feel things like you do."

Had to give you one decent question! Briar cleans out Daja's wound when she is laying in her bed. He says, "Rosethorn says water with fresh yarrow will clean that wound she's- we've- got."

When two boom-stones are high enough to go over the magical shield wall protecting Winding Circle, Tris makes a whirlwind to get rid of them. Moonstream's quote is one of my favorite out of the series.

Briar has nothing but disdain for Amery's choice in 'safe' chests. He described it as no safer than a bread box. All of the wood inlays were veneer and the lock just looked safe.

10. What type of magic did the four break into when they grew the thorny plants to stop the pirates?

Answer: pattern magic

Rosethorn wasn't happy with them for pushing her out of her own spell. Amery was very surprised that they could break into a pattern magic. The pirates that were landing in the cove were buried under the plants the four grew.
