Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did Mitsuru Numai see while he was on his way to meet Kazuo Kiriyama?

Answer: Yoji Kuramoto

Mitsuru went to meet Kazuo at the south peak, the same as the rest of his gang. While he was on the way, he saw Yoji Kuramoto, but the two didn't get into a fight. Mitsuru most likely wanted to meet up with Kazuo straight away, to see what his plan was.
2. Satomi Noda was on guard at the top of the lighthouse when the fatal meal was prepared. True or False?

Answer: False

Although Satomi is the current guard in the manga version of the story, in both the film and the novel it is Yuka Nakagawa who is on guard. The lighthouse girls had all taken it in turns to keep watch at the top of the lighthouse, each taking one of the long-range weapons with them when it was their turn.
3. Which of the girls did Satomi first blame for Yuka Nakagawa's death?

Answer: Haruka Tanizawa

Satomi was the first of the girls to get terrified after Yuka was poisoned, and grabbed her gun while threatening all of the other girls. Her first accusation is thrown at Haruka, because Haruka was one of the girls cooking. Haruka then says that Satomi must be the killer, because she is overreacting so much.
4. Mitsuru made friends with Kazuo Kiriyama after Kazuo rescued him from some bullies. What were the bullies doing to Mitsura when Kazuo arrived?

Answer: Breaking his fingers

Mitsuru had always been a bully himself, but he made the mistake of messing with a group of guys who were considerably bigger and stronger than he was. They attacked him, and were in the process of breaking his fingers by standing on them when Kazuo came to his rescue, because the bullies were disturbing him.
5. What had stopped happening to Mitsuru since he started hanging out with Kazuo Kiriyama?

Answer: He didn't get arrested anymore

Mitsuru thinks about how since he made friends with Kazuo, he hadn't been arrested once. Mitsuru was frequently getting in trouble with the law prior to this, but being friends with Kazuo seemed to sort him out. Even when they were still breaking the law, Kazuo knew how to behave so they wouldn't get caught. Mitsuru really looked up to Kazuo, more than any of the other gang members even.
6. Which weapon originally belonged to Satomi, issued in her daypack?

Answer: Uzi 9mm Submachine Gun

Satomi had managed to keep hold of her own weapon during the ruckus, and hers was the most deadly the girls had - an uzi. Sadly, the gun which made Satomi feel more secure and safe was the gun that ended up killing all of her friends.
7. Why did Mitsura start learning to fight?

Answer: He felt average at everything else and wanted to prove himself

Mitsuru was not particularly good at either sports or studies, so he always felt distinctly average. He felt that by learning to fight, and becoming strong, he would be able to prove himself, and having people scared of him made him feel more important.
8. How many people did Satomi kill?

Answer: 3

Satomi shot Chisato Matsui, Yukie Utsumi, and Haruka Tanizawa during her panic. All three of the girls were her good friends, but Satomi had become increasingly panicked during the course of the program, until she was convinced they were out to kill her.
9. Mitsuru was the first student to experience a particular event on the island - which of the following was he first at?

Answer: He was the first person to be killed by the infamous machine gun

Mitsuru arrived at the southern peak after Ryuhei Sasagawa, Hiroshi Kuronaga, and Izumi Kanai, who had all been killed by Kazuo before Mitsuru arrived. Mitsuru is the first of the students to die from Kazuo's machine gun, which is why it is accepted that the gun belonged to Ryuhei Sasagawa - all the students before him were stabbed, but after Ryuhei's death, Kazuo had the machine gun at his disposal.
10. Who killed Satomi?

Answer: Haruka Tanizawa

Satomi shot Haruka, but did not kill her. Haruka shot back at Satomi, which made her accidentally fire the gun again, killing Haruka as she died herself.
