Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why did Shogo Kawada have to repeat a year at school?

Answer: He'd spent a lot of time in hospital and missed too much

Shogo Kawada was a year older than the rest of the class because he was repeating the year. He had spent a considerable amount of time in hospital in the previous year, and had missed a great deal of his lessons, so when he transferred to this school, it was agreed he would repeat the year.
2. Izumi Kanai was a part of Kazuo Kiriyama's group. True or false?

Answer: False

Izumi was killed by Kazuo Kiriyama at the south peak of the island, along with the rest of his group. However, it is never shown that she was a part of his group - which consisted of Kazuo Kiriyama, Ryuhei Sasagawa, Sho Tsukioka, and Hiroshi Kuronaga.
3. How old was Shogo when his mother died of a nervous disorder?

Answer: 7

Shogo's father was a doctor in the slums of Kobe, and Shogo used to help him and act as a sort of nurse. His mother developed a nervous disorder, and passed away when Shogo was just seven years old. His father was distraught that he hadn't been able to help her, but he was a surgeon, and did not really know much about nervous disorders.
4. What did Izumi's father do for a living?

Answer: He was a town official

Izumi came from a very wealthy family, and although she was "well-bred", she was not stuck-up. It was Toshinori Oda whose father ran the large food company, and Shogo Kawada whose father was a doctor.
5. We know that Shogo's old girlfriend was called Keiko, but what was her surname?

Answer: Onuki

Keiko Onuki was a member of Shogo Kawada's class when he was involved in the program for the first time. Shogo showed a picture of her to Shuya Nanahara and Noriko Nakagawa, then later pretended to Kinpatsu Sakamochi that Keiko was just a girl from his class, but she was in fact his girlfriend.
6. Which of the follwing students' weapon's did Shogo keep and use?

Answer: Kaori Minami

Shogo kept Kaori's SIG-Sauer P230 9mm Short Automatic Pistol. While he did take Kyoichi's gun, he gave it to Shuya Nanahara. Throughout the game many of the weapons, the guns in particular, are taken and passed round by a number of students. As Shogo got a shotgun to begin with, he didn't really have much need to find many more weapons, so his first priority was to make sure Shuya and Noriko were armed.
7. How did Kazuo Kiriyama kill Izumi?

Answer: Stabbed her

Kazuo's first victims were stabbed, suggesting his supplied weapon was a knife of some sort. He took his infamous machine gun from one of his victims, and started shooting the victims from then on. Mitsura Numai arrives to meet Kazuo, and he notes that Izumi has been stabbed to death.
8. Which of the following people from the school building did Shogo kill?

Answer: Kinpatsu and Nomura

Shogo killed the soldier Nomura, and the instructor Kinpatsu Sakamochi after he was declared the winner of the game. Shuya Nanahara and Noriko Nakagawa enter the room later, and tell him that Kondo and Tahara, the other soldiers, are also dead - it is assumed that Shuya killed them.
9. Which sports team was Izumi a member of?

Answer: Athletics

Izumi once ran a relay race for the school but when she dropped the baton, she fell on the floor and burst into tears. It is not mentioned whether she only ran the relay race, or whether she participated in other athletics events too.
10. Shuya Nanahara assumed that Shogo had been shot in the shoulder during their battle with Kazuo Kiriyama, but Shogo had actually been shot somewhere more damaging. Where does Shuya notice the bullet hole on Shogo, as they are leaving on the boat?

Answer: Below his neck

Shogo had a small bullet hole below the back of his neck, and as Shuya notices it, he realises that Shogo is dying. He knew that Shogo had been hit and injured during the battle, but he thought it had been a shot to the shoulder. Shogo had managed to hang on long enough to ensure that Shuya and Noriko could get away safely.
