Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Mr. Holland's Opus

Glenn Holland was a music teacher and the school was budget cutting every extra-curricular activity that they could. But football or sports, no way would there be budget cuts for these activities. 2. What movie do we hear Elliot Garfield saying, "And I don't - like -the panties - hanging -- on -- the rod."?

Answer: The Goodbye Girl

This was a winning scene for me. Elliot just moved into his apartment that he paid for. Unfortunately for him, it came with two more tenants that he didn't know about. He's telling Paula McFadden the rules that he is making up, as he is pulling ladies undergarments off the rack in the bathroom.
3. "My name is Bob Rumson, and I'm running for President!" Bob said this numerous times throughout this movie. Can you name the movie?

Answer: The American President

Richard Dreyfuss is running for President during the time that Michael Douglas is dating for the first time. Richard takes this opportunity to degrade Annette Bening and try to make a few points for his presidential race in the meantime. Every time that Richard finishes his speeches, he always finishes with this statement. It gets a little old Bob!

Answer: Nuts

Richard portrays Aaron Levinsky, the lawyer for Barbra Streisand, in the movie "Nuts". Aaron is asking Dr. Morrison this question, but Claudia blurts out that it was "woman slaughter". It's a great movie, with outstanding performances by both Barbra and Richard.
5. What movie do hear this question asked? "Alright, let's say that this box car is sixty feet long, OK? And one third of it is across this switch here, alright... And now another train is coming... Now, how far do you have to move this box car so that the other train doesn't smash it? Quickly Brad, there are thousands of lives at stake..."

Answer: Close Encounters of the Third Kind

6. What movie do we hear Doctor Frankenthal tell Suzanne Vale that he is "going to have to pump her stomach?"

Answer: Postcards from the Edge

Suzanne Vale is portrayed by Meryl Streep in this movie. Meryl is the actress daughter of Shirley MacLaine. Meryl has a bit of a drug problem in the beginning of the movie. She is rushed to the emergency room by Dennis Quaid. Meryl encounters Dr. Frankenthal, when her stomach needs to be pumped out and he comes to her rescue. Meryl has quite a sense of humor in this movie that was written by Carrie Fisher.
7. In what movie do we hear Hooper make this statement? "Ah. Just like I thought. He came up with the Gulf Stream - from southern waters."

Answer: Jaws

Chief Brody and Hooper were cleaning out a shark to see what was inside. Chief Brody was hoping this was the shark that was causing all the problems with Amity Island. But one of the items Hooper pulled out was a Louisiana license plate. There are lots of cute one liners in this movie.
8. "You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone!" What movie do we hear Dr. Leo Marvin confront his patients with this statement?

Answer: What About Bob?

Dr. Leo wants to take a nice relaxing vacation with his family, but who should decide to pop up and ruin his nice relaxing vacation? Bob Wiley is his schizophrenic patient that needs serious help. He tries taking "baby steps" towards recovery, but feels he needs the one on one help from Dr. Leo. The problem is, every one just adores Bob, except Dr. Leo.
9. Curt Henderson is a little shocked that someone wants him. "Somebody wants me. Somebody's who's out there, roaming the streets, wants ME... Would you turn the corner?!" What movie is this line from?

Answer: American Graffiti

Curt Henderson sees this blonde bombshell that smiles at him. It's love at first site for Curt. Unfortunately Curt is not driving the car and wants his friends to find the "blonde babe." Curt dreams all night long about the "blonde" in the T-Bird. Suzanne Somers played the role of the "blonde" of his dreams.
10. What actor portrayed the roles Curt Henderson, Doctor Frankenthal and Glenn Holland?

Answer: Richard Dreyfuss

Richard Dreyfuss was born in Brooklyn, New York back in 1947. Richard picked up his first Oscar for "The Goodbye Girl". He played the weird and wacky Elliot Garfield with perfection; from his nude playing guitar strumming, to his incense smelling yoga. Some other great flicks by Dreyfuss were "Stakeout", "Always" and "Down and Out in Beverly Hills". What a wonderful actor.
