Answer: Francis

Born in St. Paul Minnesota in 1896, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was as well known for his "fast" lifestyle as his novels.
2. The famous author, Sir Walter Scott, lived, appropriately enough, in Scotland, where he produced many famous novels and poems. Which of these is NOT written by him?

Answer: Tom Jones

Tom Jones was written by Henry Fielding and was a great influence on Sir Walter Scott, who showed little promise at university, and instead gained most of his education from real life and reading.
3. Scott Bakula starred in a series in which the hero, Sam Beckett, found himself stranded, travelling backwards and forwards in time. What was the name of the series?

Answer: Quantum Leap

"Quantum Leap" had a successful run of four years. In each episode, Sam would find himself trapped in the body of another person, and although he could make small changes to events, he was never allowed to interfere with major events, such as the assassination of Kennedy.
4. One of the greatest heroic failures, Captain Robert Scott, was famously unsuccessful in his attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole. But which actor portrayed him in the film "Scott of the Antarctic"?

Answer: John Mills

Captain Scott is portrayed as a hero in the film, but it is now thought that many mistakes of leadership and judgement on his part contributed greatly to the sad demise of his expeditionary team.
5. Captain Robert Scott, was famously unsuccessful in his attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole. His son Peter found fame in a different field from his father, years after his father's death. What was Peter Scott's lifelong passion?

Answer: Ornithology

Peter Scott presented many television programmes on birds in the 50s and 60s in the UK. He founded the Severn Wildfowl Trust, which has a bird sanctuary at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire. He was also a talented artist who produced a great many paintings with a wildlife theme.
6. Who starred as Scott Robinson in "Neighbours"?

Answer: Jason Donovan

The famous onscreen romance of Scott and Charlene in Ramsey Street led to a series of chart hits for the then relatively unknown Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue. Kylie has gone on to superstardom, while Jason, apart from playing Joseph in the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat", has hardly set the world alight.
7. Scott Joplin, the composer and pianist, was a largely self taught musician. With which piece of music did he first become famous as a composer?

Answer: Maple Leaf Rag

Maple Leaf Rag was named after the club in which Joplin was performing at the time, and the popularity of the music enabled him to give up playing for a living, and devote himself to composing and teaching.
8. In the Sixties, the Walker Brothers were a popular group with hits such as "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More". When they split up, one of them, Scott Walker, went on to further success with hits such as "Joanna" and "Jackie". Walker was not his real name, however. What was?

Answer: Engel

Despite the fact that the group were American, they were more popular in Britain than at home, where they only had limited success. None of the group members were named Walker - the group consisted of John Maus and Gary Leeds as well as the "great" Scott Engel.
9. British comedy actor Terry Scott appeared in many comedy series during the Sixties and Seventies. But with which "Absolutely Fabulous" actress was he most famously paired?

Answer: June Whitfield

In the series "Terry and June" and "Happy Ever After", Scott and Whitfield portrayed suburban silliness at its British best. Scott later played a schoolboy in the "Curly Wurly" commercials, and was the voice of "Penfold" in "Dangermouse".
10. One of the finest actors of his generation, George C. Scott received great critical acclaim for many of his roles. But for which role did our last great "Scott" refuse his Academy Award for Best Actor?

Answer: Patton

Scott was, in fact, nominated for all of the films listed, but when he at last won the award for his portrayal of the controversial general, but he refused to accept it, calling the process a "meat market".
