Answer: Hampden Park, Glasgow

127,621 people packed into Hampden to seee Real Madrid win their 5th successive European crown. Ferenc Puskas scored four times for the Spanish giants, with Alfredo Di Stefano also scoring a hat-trick.
2. Summer Olympics: Anita Lonsbrough of Great Britain won a gold medal in which sport?

Answer: Swimming

19 year old Lonsbrough, from Huddersfield in Yorkshire, won the 200m Breaststroke in Rome, with two German swimmers, Witrud Urselmann and Barbara Gobem, taking silver and bronze respectively.
3. Baseball: The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Yankees to win the World Series, courtesy of a 9th inning home run by Bill Mazeroski in game seven. Which Yankee pitcher was on the mound?

Mazeroski's homer gave the Pirates their first World series title since 1925. In 2008, the Yankees paid their first visit to Pittsburgh since that famous game, and Mazeroski was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The first champions of the AFL were the Houston Oilers, who defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 24-16 in the championship game at Jepperson Stadium. The Philadelphia Eagles were NFL champions in this year.
6. Winter Olympics: Which American resort hosted the event in 1960?

Answer: Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley is located near Tahoe City, California, in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The USSR finished the games as leading medal winners with 21, including 7 golds. Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980.

Driving for the Cooper-Climax team, Australian Brabham won five successive races, in Holland, Belgium, France, Britain and Portugal, and finished the season 9 points ahead of Bruce McLaren.
