The Vancouver Canucks joined the League in 1970. The six expansion teams, taking the NHL from six to twelve teams, were:
California Seals, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and St Louis Blues.
2. Which expansion team won the new Western Division in the first year and lost in the Stanley Cup finals?

Answer: St.Louis Blues

The Blues played in three straight Stanley Cup Finals in its first three seasons, and were swept 4-0 in each. They were defeated by the Montreal Canadiens in the first two and Boston Bruins in the third.
