Beauchamp led 7 times for 30 laps, but it was Lee Petty who went on to win, three days after the finish of the race. Johnny Beauchamp started 21st in a '59 Thunderbird. Bob Welborn won the qualifying race but was relegated to a 41st place finish after blowing an engine 75 laps into the race.
