Answer: Joe Mauer

The others were already retired. Mauer was a catcher, and won his first batting title in 2006, then another in 2008, then batted .365 in 2009.
2. Which manager was the first to win seven World Series Championships?

Answer: Joe McCarthy

McCarthy won all seven World Series titles with the Yankees from 1932-1943. Stengel came after McCarthy in 1949, and won seven World Series again with the Yankees. Stengel made 10 appearances with the Yankees to the promised from 1949-1960.
3. In 1966, this National League team became the Atlanta Braves. This was their _____ different name in their franchise history.

Answer: 8th

The franchise began in 1876, and had the name Boston Red Caps until 1882. From 1883-1906 the team was the Boston Beaneaters. 1907 saw them as the Boston Doves until 1910. One season saw the team as the Boston Rustlers in 1911, then the Boston Braves in 1912 until Babe Ruth's final season in 1935. From there it was the Boston Bees in 1936, then back to the Boston Braves name in 1941.

In 1953, along with the move to Milwaukee, they became the Milwaukee Braves until the move to Atlanta.
4. Who was the first pitcher to pitch in 10 All-Star games?

Answer: Roger Clemens

The first All-Star game was in 1933, well after Johnson and Mathewson retired. Clemens pitched with four teams, the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees, and Astros from 1996-2007. He was an All-Star with every team that he pitched for.

Ty Cobb of the Tigers and Frank Schulte of the Cubs won the inaugural awards in 1911 to represent each league.

In 2009, Jamie Moyer of the Phillies was in his 22nd season, gave up 27 home runs, and sat second on the list by totaling 491.
10. Which American Leaguer won the league's very first batting crown in 1901?

Answer: Nap Lajoie

The others weren't born yet. Lajoie not only won the inaugural American League batting crown, but also batted for the Triple Crown in 1901. Nap was a Philadelphia Athletic in the season and led the league in an amazing 10 categories, including his .426 batting average. The Athletics still wound up in fourth place while watching the White Sox take the first American League pennant.
