1. The 2002 World Series saw the San Francisco Giants hit 14 home runs. What Giant hit the most?

Answer: Barry Bonds

Although Glaus hit 3, he was an Angel. Giant Jeff Kent hit 3 big ones for the Giants, but it was Bonds who stole the show by hitting 4. The Angels hit 7 four-baggers in the Series, that the Angels won 4 games to 3.
2. Don Larsen was the first pitcher in history to throw a World Series perfect game. Which team was on the losing end of his arm?

Answer: Brooklyn Dodgers

The 1956 World Series pitted the Yankees against crosstown rival Brooklyn Dodgers. In game 5, Larsen blanked the Dodgers across the board, and with the help of a Mickey Mantle shot, won the game 2-0. The Dodgers came back in game 6 by shutting out the Yankees 1-0 in 10 innings, but the Yankees won the Series 4 games to 3.
3. Babe Ruth won the MVP Award in 1923. Who was the runner-up?

Answer: Eddie Collins

Collins is the only one of the four listed who was alive in the 1920s. Eddie received 37 points, 2nd to the Babe's 64 points. Ruth was the only player who received 1st place votes. The Babe hit 41 home runs, had 205 hits, and batted a tremendous .393 for the season.
4. What 1973 team had a season record of 82-79, and still went to the World Series?

Answer: New York Mets

In 1973, the Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Championship Series, but lost 4 games to 3 in the World Series to the Oakland Athletics. A 4-run Oakland third inning did the Mets in during game 7.
5. The great catcher Thurman Munson, played for which Major League team?

Answer: Yankees

Munson played for 11 seasons from 1969-1979 with the Yankees, before his life was ended in a tragic accident. He won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1970, and the American League MVP in 1976.
6. How many Gold Gloves did the great Reggie 'Mr. October' Jackson win, throughout his career of 21 seasons?

Answer: 0

Reggie didn't need to prove anything defensively, as he let his bat do the talking. Although no Gold Gloves came his way, he made up for it with two World Series MVP Awards, and the 1973 American League MVP. In 21 seasons, Jackson committed 142 errors.
7. Who was the first player in history to stand at the plate (at-bats)over 700 times in a season?

Answer: Willie Wilson

Willie had an amazing 705 at-bats in 1980, setting a new record and being the first to break the 700 barrier. This Kansas City Royal outfielder, only drew 28 walks in the season, which is not credited to an at-bat. Willie struck out 81 times. The others listed are not baseball players.
8. In 1904, New York Yankee Jack Chesbro set a record for most wins in a season with 41. What other teammate won over 20 games that season?

Answer: Jack Powell

Other than Powell, no other pitcher listed had been born yet. Powell had a record of 23-19, behind Chesbro's 41-12 stint. The Yankees finished in 2nd place with a record of 92-59, 3 games behind the Red Sox.
9. The Anaheim Angels franchise was called what in 1959?

Answer: They did not exist

The Angels franchise started from expansion in 1961. It would only take 2 seasons for the Angels to have a record over .500, but 18 years before they would win a division in 1979.
10. Which of the following won the Triple Crown twice in their career?

Answer: Rogers Hornsby

Hornsby won the Triples in 1922 and 1925 with the Cardinals. He also won the National League MVP in 1925, and another MVP as a Cub in 1929. He reached the season batting plateau of .400 four times in his great career, and retired with an average of .358. The others listed did not have a Triple Crown season.
