1. Who was the only pitcher to throw over 100 shutouts in the 20th century?

Answer: Walter Johnson

Johnson, threw an amazing 110 shutouts in his career. This 21 year lifetime Washington Senator, threw a personal high of 11 in 1913. In 1913 and 1924, he won the MVP and the Triple Crown. He won the Triple Crown in 1918, but there was no MVP awarded in that season. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame, in its first season of award recepients in 1936.
The only other pitcher listed was Carlton, who only threw 55.
2. How many Gold Glove awards, did Brooks Robinson win while playing for the Minnesota Twins?

Answer: 0

Robinson, another one of those loyal one-team players, won 16 Gold Gloves at third base for the Baltimore Orioles. He wore their uniform from 1955-1977. Brooks won the AL MVP in 1964.
3. What was Babe Ruth's home run season high with the Boston Red Sox?

Answer: 29

Ruth played for 6 seasons with the Red Sox, mostly as a pitcher. His home run tracking with Boston was 0, 4, 3, 2, 11, and 29 in 1919. In 1920, with his first season with the Yankees, he uncorked (no pun intended) his bat by hitting 54, and then 59 the following season.
4. How many Rookie of the Year awards did Derek Jeter win as a Yankee?

Answer: 1

Derek was the Rookie of the Year in 1996 with the Yankees, for hitting .314. 1996 was his only year eligible.

Vaughn began his career in 1991 in Boston, and continued to play for the Red Sox until 1998. After 2 seasons as an Angel, he went to the Mets in 2002. Entering the 2003 season, Mo had not yet retired his 6'1", 230 lb. frame.

Answer: Eddie Murray

The others listed were inducted 20 years earlier. Murray played for 21 seasons with 5 different clubs. He joined the 500 club in 1996, and retired the following season.

Answer: Brewers

Miller opened in 2001. They had played at County Stadium prior.
8. Which of the following teams made 8 World Series appearances in the 1950s?

Answer: New York Yankees

The Yankees were on a tear and dominated the 1950s. This included winning 4 consecutive World Series. From 1949-1964, they appeared in 14 of the 16 World Series.
9. Which of the following pitchers, had more wins in the Major Leagues?

Answer: Babe Ruth

Although Paige unverifiably has over 2500 wins, he was only 28-31 in the Majors. Fidrych did one better with a 29-19 record, then Dodger reliever Ron Perranoski with a record of 79-74, then the Babe tops the list of 94-46. All but 5 of Ruth's wins were as a Red Sox pitcher. Babe Ruth only threw 31.0 innings in 15 seasons in the pinstripes, and had 5 wins.
10. What player set a record for hitting 5 home runs in the 1977 World Series?

Answer: Reggie Jackson

Jackson smacked 5, in a 4 games to 2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. This Yankee hit 1 in game 4, 1 in game 5, and then popped 3 in the final game. He was the Series MVP.
