The award can only be won in a rookie's first full season. Banks, who began his great career in 1953, never won the award. He was an official rookie in 1954, when the award went to Wally Moon of the St. Louis Cardinals. Banks did however, win the NL MVP Award in 1958 and 1959. 19 seasons, all as a Cub, found him inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977.
2. How many Cy Young Awards did Cy Young win?

Answer: 0

The Cy Young Award was named after Denton True 'Cy' Young. He retired in 1911, and his first award was given out in 1956. The award was given out to the most outstanding pitchers in baseball. Don Newcombe of the Brooklyn Dodgers was the first recepient. Young won a career high 511 games, the first to even reach the 400 win plateau.
3. In Babe Ruth's first season in the Major Leagues, how many home runs did the hit?

Answer: 0

1914 was the introduction of George Herman 'Babe' Ruth. Primarily a pitcher with the Boston Red Sox, and going 2-1, he didn't hit any. He hit four in 1915, and never blossomed until he went to the Yankees. In his first season with the Yankees in 1920, he blasted 54 home runs. Ruth retired with 714.
4. Manager Casey Stengel took his New York Yankees to 10 World Series. How many times did he win the Manager of the Year Award in his career?

Answer: 0

In an amazing run in his 12 seasons at the helm of the Yankees, Casey took the team to 10 World Series, winning seven of them. This historic run was between 1949-1960. However, the Manager of the Year Award did not begin until 1983, with Tom Lasorda of the Dodgers, and Tony LaRussa of the White Sox, being the inaugural winners.
5. How many times did the Los Angeles Dodgers, go to a World Series in the 1990s?

Answer: 0

The last World Series appearance for the Dodgers in the century, was in 1988. It was their second appearance in the decade of the '80s. In 1988, they defeated the Oakland Athletics four games to one. Orel Hershiser of the Dodgers was the Series MVP.
6. The great Nolan Ryan won how many games in his first season in the big leagues?

Answer: 0

1966 saw the emergence of what was going to be one of the greatest pitchers in history. Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr., appeared in only two games with the Mets that season, going 0-1, and pitching in only three innings in the season. He struck out six batters in those three innings, an indicator of what was to come. Ryan was the first pitcher to strike out over 5000 batters in his career, and retired with 5714 K's.
7. Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth's home run record, by hitting 61 big ones in the 1961 season. How many other times in Maris' career, did he hit 40+ home runs?

Answer: 0

Playing only 12 seasons in his career, Maris hit more than 30 only twice, other than his breakout season of 1961. In 1960, he hit 39 home runs, and 33 in 1962. In 1960 and 1961, Maris won the AL MVP, beating out teammate Mickey Mantle both seasons. He retired with 275 career home runs.
8. In the 2003 season, how many MLB rostered players were born in Spain?

Answer: 0

There were only three MLB players in the entire 20th century who were born in Spain. Bryan Oelkers, from Zaragoza, played from 1983-1986, Al Pardo, from Oviedo, played from 1985-1989, and Danny Rios, who was born in Madrid, played from 1997-1998.
9. Nolan Ryan retired in the number spot with 5714 career strikeouts. He was the first to reach even the 4000 strikeout mark. How many season MVP's did he win during his 27 season career?

Answer: 0

The Cy Young Award was very elusive for 'The Ryan Express', as he never won it. What is more astounding, Ryan was never even in the top 10 season MVP voting in his career. His closest drive for the 'Cy' was in 1973, when he finished second to Jim Palmer of the Orioles.
10. Since the World Series began in 1903, how many times did an American League team lose a World Series crown, before they finally won it all?
