The NHL doubled in size from 6 teams to 12 teams. All the expansion teams were in the same division until the next expansion in 1970, when the Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres were added. The St. Louis Blues were the Stanley Cup Finalists from this division all three years (1967,68,69), but failed to win a game in any of the series.
2. What year did the Philadelphia Flyers become the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup?

Answer: 1974

The Flyers coached by Fred Shero won the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975. St.Louis Blues were the first expansion team to play in the finals, losing in 1967,1968 and 1969.
