While the opening credits rolled, you could see that Damon Lindelof and Drew Goddard were credited for writing this episode of "Lost." For the first five seasons of the show, Goddard wrote a total of nine episodes for the series. He also wrote episodes for the TV shows, "Angel", "Alias", and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
2. In this episode, who saved Claire from drowning?

Answer: Desmond Hume

Desmond did not know that he had a special power, until this episode, since he saw into the future and had a vision of Claire drowning. In this episode, Claire appeared to be drowning, in the beach, and Desmond ran out to rescue her. Desmond saved her life and it was at that time that Charlie and Hurley realized that Desmond could see into the future.

Answer: Charlie Pace

Since Desmond realized he could see into the future, due to how he traveled to London and revealed his past, he gave Charlie some unsettling news. He informed Charlie that he saw a vision, of Charlie dying, and this frightened Charlie. Sure enough, Charlie did die, in the season three finale, when he drowned. He appeared, as a ghost, on the first episode of season four.
4. What did Charlie call Desmond that upset him?

When Charlie and Hurley figured out that Desmond could see into the future, they hatched a plan to get Desmond drunk so he could confess about his psychic abilities. Desmond had many drinks and Charlie asked him to talk about his seeing into the future. Desmond refused to talk about it so he got up to leave and, when he did, Charlie called him a coward and Desmond attacked Charlie.

Dale, born on May 6th, 1947 in Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand portrayed Charles Widmore in this episode. Dale appeared, for the first five seasons, in a total of eleven episodes. Charles was Penny's rich father and, in a flashback in this episode, Desmond asked Charles for permission to marry Penny and Charles did not give him his permission. Dale guest starred on the TV series', "Entourage", "Crossing Jordan", and "The West Wing."

She took Desmond, for a walk, and told him she knew someone would die but would not help prevent the death since the world had a way of, as she said, "course correcting." She informed Desmond he would die anyway. Desmond went to lunch, with Penny, and broke up with her since he did not have enough money to get her a ring and he also could not support her.

After Desmond broke up, with Penny at lunch, he went to a pub and started to drink some alcohol. A bar fight broke out and Desmond, unfortunately, was caught in the middle of the fight. Desmond was knocked out and, when he awoke, he was back on the island and naked. This scene was seen in an earlier episode, episode three of season three called "Further Instructions."

When Desmond awoke and was back on the island, he was on Charlie so Hurley came along and pulled Desmond off of Charlie. Both Charlie and Hurley helped Desmond, to his tent, and Charlie kept pressing Desmond to tell him how he got the ability to see into the future. Desmond said that he managed to prevent death two times but Charlie would eventually die.
