Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Radar very generously gives Colonel Potter a tall glass of tomato juice he has on his tray, and the Colonel is just tickled about it. 'Reminds of all the goodies back home,' the Colonel muses. Hawkeye and BJ then proceed to list some of their favorite 'goodies'. Which of these unusual culinary items does BJ mention that must be explained to Radar?

Answer: Escargot

BJ mentions kosher pickles, countered by Hawkeye's apple pancakes, which are, in turn, verbally retorted by BJ's escargot. 'What's that?', Radar innocently asks. 'Snails,' BJ responds quickly. 'Oh, ick, I would never eat a snail,' replies a disgusted Radar. BJ then cleverly responds, 'Nobody would, that's why they started to call them escargot.'
2. At the food counter, a typically irritable Major Frank Burns berates Igor for his problem with applesauce spillage. Frank demands to know Igor's name, how does the befuddled Igor respond?

Answer: Maxwell, sir.

Igor is in fact played by actor Jeff Maxwell, so this one was an odd moment in the show. It is later established that Igor's surname is Straminsky, a play on the name Igor Stravinsky.

As for Frank's applesauce tirade, one line is absolutely priceless and must be repeated here: 'Apples don't grow on trees, you know!'
3. Radar decides to do something very nice for Colonel Potter, that is, to acquire more tomato juice for his kindly commanding officer. Naturally, he enlists Hawkeye and BJ to do the dirty work. In the officer's shower, the two of them attempt to cajole Frank, who is the requisition officer, into ordering more tomato juice. Frank, agrees, but only on the condition that they acquire what unusual clothing item for him?

Answer: A pair of nylons

Frank claims that tomato juice is too expensive, and that he only has so much to spend each month. 'Frank, stop trying to bring the war in under budget,' BJ dryly suggests. Frank claims that the pair of nylons that he asks for in trade are for one of the nurses who has been performing well in the O.R. Ahem! Sure Frank!
4. In order to acquire the item of clothing in question, Hawkeye and BJ approach Klinger. Klinger requests a two-day pass in trade. Is this two-day pass to be for a trip to Tokyo?

Answer: No

In actuality, Klinger isn't that greedy. He merely wants a couple of fun-filled days in Seoul. The problem with this request, it won't fly with Colonel Potter. When Potter hears of Klinger's desire to go to Korea, he instinctively says no, after all, Klinger has gone AWOL four times recently!
5. General Barker, last seen in the first season of 'M*A*S*H', gets a mention in this episode. Colonel Potter claims that no recreational leaves are being allowed, as per General Barker's orders. What is General Barker's first name?

Answer: Bradley

If you recall, Bradley Barker was portrayed in a couple of season one episodes by Sorrell Brooke, most famous for his role as Boss Hogg on the television show 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. Unfortunately, Brooke does not appear in this episode, but his spirit can be felt!

Colonel Potter does what he can for Klinger, despite the moratorium on recreational leaves. His reasoning: 'I've got a soft spot in my heart for Klinger. He looks a lot like my son, and dresses a lot like my wife.'
6. Radar is able to get a hold of General Barker through his pal Sparky. During Radar's conversation with Sparky, he learns that his friend has just completed what very racy English-language novel?

Answer: Fanny Hill

'Fanny Hill' was a 1748 novel written by English novelist John Cleland. It is considered to be the first 'erotic novel' in the modern English language. Radar, who loaned the book to Sparky, says, 'I don't know how it ended, who did it?' Responding to Sparky's answer, Radar continues, 'Everybody? Hot Cherokees!'
7. In the operating room, Colonel Potter asks Margaret, with great hesitance, if she would be willing to attend a party in Seoul as General Barker's escort. She is perfectly willing, claiming to have served under General Barker at what location?

Answer: Fort Ord

Margaret is a true army brat, but it is said that if she had a true home, it would be Fort Ord, located in California.

This scene is awkward because it almost appears as if Colonel Potter is 'pimping' Margaret out to the General. However, Potter is very uncomfortable with the whole situation and finally suggests that he will tell General Barker off.
8. Frank is very depressed by the fact that Margaret will be visiting with General Barker. In order to make Frank happy, and thus facilitate the requisition of the tomato juice, Radar must bring him back together with Margaret. Radar brings a love note to Hot Lips along with flowers. What type of flowers does he bring to Margaret?

Answer: Anemones

When Margaret sees the flowers she exclaims, 'Anemones!' Radar misunderstands, responding, 'Yeah, but he wants to be friends now!' She then reads Frank's note, and is so excited, she composes one of her own. 'Yours tonight and forever, Margaret', it says. Frank's note, composed by Radar, reads, 'Let me come to you on my knees and propose, Frank'.
9. The General's car pulls up to the 4077th. Does Margaret make the trip to Seoul?

Answer: No

Hawkeye and BJ are able to sneak Klinger away in the General's car. When the driver sees Klinger, he whispers to the doctors, 'She looks like she needs a shave!'
10. After all of Radar's shenanigans and Hawkeye and BJ's machinations, Colonel Potter is finally presented with another glass of tomato juice. Does he drink it?

Answer: No

Nope! It turns out that Colonel Potter is allergic to tomato juice. All that effort was wasted, except for in Klinger's case. He had a grand time with General Barker in Seoul!
