Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first leg of the race, team members selected for the Road Block went skydiving.

Answer: False

While it may seem like this was the case, the opposite was true when teams selected the participating team member. Arriving in Santa Bárbara, Argentina, teams drove themselves to the Aerodromo Gilberto Lavaque and one team member needed to be selected to have 'a good sense of direction'.

While they drove to a specific drop-off point, their team members-- the non-participants-- had to skydive over the Argentinean countryside from a height of 10,000 feet. Art, Brendon, Dave, Jamie, Andrew, Ralph, Maiya, Bopper, Danny, Kerri, and Cherie completed this task while their partners skydived.
2. How many teams took a two-hour penalty for not completing the bottle dance Road Block task in Paraguay (in Leg 3)?

Answer: One

For their Road Block task, teams visiting Asunción, Paraguay reached Plaza de la Democracia where one selected team member needed to 'use their head'. Balancing a bottle on their head, they needed to perform a traditional choreographed dance to completion. If they dropped the bottle at any time, they would need to start over.

The catch was that they only had fifty bottles; running out would result in a two hour time penalty upon checking in at the Pit Stop. Only Dave (of Rachel and Dave) took the penalty, dropping the couple to sixth place overall. Art, Dave, Rachel, Joey, Mark, Nary, Kerri, Elliot, and Ralph went for this task.
3. In the fourth leg of the race, teams rappelled in the Lingotto Building in which Italian city?

Answer: Turin

Arriving in Turin, Italy in Leg 4, teams drove to the Lingotto Buildintg and, there, they had to run to the top up a lengthy spiral drive. At the top was a Road Block wherein one member of each team needed to rappel one hundred twenty feet down through the building to collect a clue. If they did not collect the clue within two minutes they needed to descend to the bottom, run back to the top, and try again. Rachel, Danny, Vanessa, Jamie, Rachel, Stacy, and Bopper completed the task (though Vanessa and Jamie had to take a second attempt). Neither Art nor JJ completed the Road Block as they claimed the Fast Forward clue.
4. In Fussen, Germany, team members had to go curling with what unorthodox stone to finish Leg 5?

Answer: A garden gnome

Coming to the town of Fussen, Germany in the end of Leg 5, teams needed to locate the Eisstockschießen and choose one member who was 'ready to put it on ice'. For this task, they needed to use a Travelocity roaming gnome, picked up at the start of the leg, and go curling.

When they landed the gnome in the middle of the bullseye, they could race to the Pit Stop. Art, Danny, Ralph, Nary, Brendon, Rachel, Kerri, and Mark finished this task.
5. In Azerbaijan in the sixth leg of the race, team members completing the Road Block had to complete a training simulation involving which of these?

Answer: Helicopter

Performing in some unorthodox challenges throughout the city of Baku in Leg 6, teams quickly came upon a Road Block task sending them to the offices of Occupational Training International. There, the selected teammate had to complete a helicopter crash simulation in which they had to escape a flipped and submerged helicopter and swim to a life raft to collect their next clue. Bopper, Jamie, JJ, Brendon, Vanessa, and Joey 'Fitness' completed this task. Neither Rachel nor Dave participated, having claimed the Fast Forward clue in this leg.
6. Which team member completed the honey harvesting Road Block task in Tanzania in Leg 8?

Answer: Mark

Visiting the Tanzanian town of Mto Wa Mbu in Leg 8, teams ended up finding a Road Block that forced one member of each team to get up close and personal with a bunch of African bees. Working with beekeepers, they needed to go into the hives and collect five hundred grams of honeycomb, properly removing the bees from it before weighing it and receiving their next clue.

When this was done, teams could head to the next Pit Stop, on the edge of Lake Manyara, on foot. Mark, Dave, Art, Rachel, Ralph, and Nary completed this task, the only Road Block in both Tanzania legs.
7. No one was able to complete the Bollywood Road Block (in Kochi, India in Leg 9) on their first try.

Answer: False

For this exhausting technical Road Block, teams took a bus from Kochi to Thevara, India and collected a clue at the Sacred Heart College. There, both Rachels, JJ, Vanessa, and Mark had to join a troupe of thirty dance extras and perform on stage on the set of a Bollywood movie. If they could properly complete the dance for a director and dance choreographer, they could get their next clue and continue the race.

While Rachel (of Dave and Rachel) got this on her first try, everyone else took numerous attempts to proceed with Mark topping out at twelve tries.
8. Which team did not participate in the rope-spinning Road Block task in India in Leg 10?

Answer: Mark and Bopper

'Who's at the end of their rope?' For this task, teams needed to visit Pattanacaud Coir Mats and Matting venue and one member of each was required to use coconut husks to spin forty feet of rope. Then, once they had their unbroken strand, they had to spool four bundles of rope onto one spindle and properly set them up. Ralph, Dave, Art, and Brendon completed this task. Neither Mark nor Bopper joined in on this one, having gone for the Fast Forward clue.
9. Reaching TV 8 Studio in Osaka, Japan in Leg 11, team members completing the Road Block had to nab three of which of these to get their clue?

Answer: Rubber chickens

Arriving at TV 8 Studio in Osaka, four racers joined in for a rousing game of 'Bring That Chicken Home' during which they had to suit up in protective gear and run on treadmills in a TV studio. During this, the racers had to leap on the moving track to collect three rubber chickens, then run and plant themselves at the far end of the track. Art and Rachel (of Rachel and Dave) opted to participate in this task while Vanessa and Brendon were forced to do so, needing to even out their Road Block totals going into the final leg.
10. How many Road Blocks were completed in the final leg of the race (in Hawaii)?

Answer: Two

As has been a recurring approach for a handful of seasons, the final leg of the race utilized both teammates' abilities with two Road Blocks, the first allowing for a choice and the second forcing the other partner to complete their own. The first was on Sand Island, where Dave, Brendon, and JJ elected to use a samurai sword to make a bucket full of shaved ice.

At Coral Kingdom Gate, Art, Rachel, and Rachel were forced to ride holuas down a hill across a finish line and then score a goal using a volcanic stone to get their next clue sending them to the finish line.
