Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which team completed the 'Fishing Pole' Detour task in Leg 5 (in Sri Lanka)?

Answer: Dave and Connor

Departing from the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the remaining eight teams were told to head to the airport to hitch a ride to Colombo, the capital city of the island nation of Sri Lanka. Upon their arrival, teams had to receive a Buddhist blessing at the Gangaramaya Temple and then hop on a train to find their Detour task near Galle at the Koggala King Coconut Stand. Those choosing to complete the 'Fishing Pole' task were required to head into the ocean to straddle fishing stilts, and both members had to catch a fish (each). Dave and Connor and Jet and Cord completed this task.
2. How many raban (combined) did teams need to keep spinning during the 'Spin Control' Detour task in Sri Lanka (in Leg 5)?

Answer: Four

Those not taking their chance on the open water instead decided to complete 'Spin Control' on solid ground. For this task, the other six teams participated in a local dance which involved spinning raban, traditional drums, on poles; one team member spun one while the other spun three. Only when they completed the dance with the raban still spinning would they be able to continue.

The teams excluding Jet and Cord and Dave and Connor went with this task before continuing on.
3. During Leg 5, which team completed a Speed Bump task in Sri Lanka?

Answer: Brendon and Rachel

After the Detour, teams took taxis back to the city of Colombo to locate the Trendy Connections Garment Factory. Here, Brendon and Rachel located their Speed Bump task, required since they placed last in the previous leg of the race (which was non-elimination). For this task, both of them had to enter the factory floor and silk-screen fifteen garments using proper technique.

When this was done they would be able to continue on with the Road Block for this leg of the race.
4. For the Leg 5 Road Block in Sri Lanka, team members needed to construct which of these?

Answer: A shirt

At the Trendy Connections Garment Factory, teams found a Road Block task waiting. For this one, one member of each team was required to head to the sewing floor, grab a machine, and (with a demonstration) properly assemble a shirt, sewing it to match their exemplar. Once the shirt was properly constructed, a logo would be placed upon it and they could head to that destination. Ultimately, this task would take several hours to complete for many of the teams.
5. Which team was eliminated in Sri Lanka in Leg 5?

Answer: Margie and Luke

After the Road Block, teams needed to proceed by any means to the next Pit Stop, the Colombo Rowing Club, where, once again, Dave and Connor stole a first place victory (on the leg where they were previously eliminated). For this win, they received $5,000 each.

After failing to secure a suitable flight in Kuala Lumpur, Margie and Luke were the last to arrive in Sri Lanka, too late to complete any of the tasks and too late to pull out of last place. They were the fourth team eliminated from the race, the same place as their previous appearance in "Unfinished Business".
6. During Leg 6, were teams required to take a flight?

Answer: No

In Leg 6, teams remained in the country of Sri Lanka, completing tasks over the course of a full day through the countryside all the way to the coast. This began with a trip to Colombo's Dutch Museum, opening that morning, where teams were told to head to the nearby train station and ride to the village of Alawwa where they would find a clue at the town's Ceypetco Fuel Station.
7. How many tuk-tuks did team members need to refuel during the Sri Lankan Road Block in Leg 6?

Answer: Four

Arriving at the Ceypetco Fuel Station in Alawwa, teams found a Road Block clue waiting for them. For this task, the chosen team member needed to choose a coloured card and find four tuk-tuks in the area with that colour, bringing them to the pumps, and fueling them with three liters of gas. Rachel, Jamal, Dave, John, Big Easy, Cord, and Caroline completed this task, successfully pumping gas through the madness, and hopping the next train.
8. In the 'Trunks' Detour task in Leg 6 (in Sri Lanka), did teams work with elephants?

Answer: Yes

After the Road Block, teams took another train onward to Rambukkana to locate tuk-tuks which would drive them to the next clue on the banks of a creek in the Millennium Elephant Foundation. Here, they located a Detour. In 'Trunks', teams needed to grab a special chain designed to wrap around logs so that elephants could grab them with their mouths.

When they and the elephant transported a combined six logs they could continue on. Jet and Cord, Leo and Jamal, Jessica and John, and Dave and Connor completed this one.
9. Those not opting to complete the 'Trunks' Detour task in Sri Lanka in Leg 6 instead did which of the following tasks?

Answer: 'Sheets'

In 'Sheets', teams had to travel to a nearby station to create paper out of an elephant dung mixture which, when combined with scraps of paper and water, would be pressed into sheets. Once the teams properly made five large sheets of paper using the proper methods they would need to set five other pieces out to dry to receive their next clue. Flight Time and Big Easy, Caroline and Jennifer, and Brendon and Rachel completed this task.

After the Detour, teams were then told to take taxis to find the wise man playing music at the Ambepussa Rest House.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Sri Lanka in Leg 6?

Answer: Caroline and Jennifer

After finding the wise man, teams were told to travel by taxi to the sixth Pit Stop of the race at the Mount Lavinia Hotel Beach, near an old train station in Mount Lavinia. Running in a close footrace along the beach, Leo and Jamal narrowly defeated Jet and Cord to take their first win of the season, winning a trip for two to Berlin, Germany courtesy of Travelocity.

In a likewise close finish, Caroline and Jennifer were the last team to arrive on the mat, but they were spared by the race's second non-elimination leg and allowed to race another leg.
