Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which actor had his contract terminated with "Two and a Half Men" in 2011?

Answer: Charlie Sheen

"Two and a Half Men" was an American sitcom that aired for twelve seasons on CBS. Charlie Sheen played Charlie Harper in the sitcom from its beginning in 2003, until his termination in 2011.

In early 2011 Charlie Sheen had gone into drug rehabilitation, and the show was put on hiatus indefinitely. Within a few weeks Charlie had publicly made disparaging comments about Chuck Lorre the co-creator and producer of the show as well as CBS, and on more than one occasion. Production of the show was then stopped for the rest of the eighth season costing millions of dollars in lost revenue. In March of 2011, CBS and Warner Bros jointly announced they were terminating Charlie's contract.

The first episode of the season nine saw Charlie dead, hit by a train. He had apparently died while on his honeymoon with Rose.

On the final episode of the show Charlie is found to be alive, he had been held captive in Rose's basement after he had cheated on her on their honeymoon. He escapes and is about to enter his house when he is killed by a piano falling on him.
2. Season one of the series "24" sees which of the following characters die?

Answer: Teri Bauer

"24" was a crime drama produced by the Fox network which aired for eight seasons from 2001 to 2010. Each episode of the show is an hour in the life of the characters, so a 24 episode season is just one day.

"24" stared Keifer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, a former Delta Force member who works for the CTU, or Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles.

Season one sees Jack embroiled in a plot to kill a US senator when his wife Teri (Leslie Hope) and daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) are kidnapped to force him to commit the murder.

The killing of Teri was particularly sad as it happened at the very end of the season, after the murder plot had been foiled and most of the bad guys rounded up or killed.

There had been a mole in the CTU, Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) and Jack had realised this and was coming to apprehend her. When Jack finally arrived he let Nina be taken into custody instead of being killed, and then he finds his dead wife who Nina had shot in the abdomen.
3. "Robin Hood", the 2006 BBC adaptation with Jonas Armstrong starring as Robin, controversially killed off which main character at the end of season two?

Answer: Lady Marian

This version of Robin Hood was produced by Tiger Aspect Productions for BBC one. Only three series were made which ran from 2006 to 2008.

In this adaptation of the Robin Hood legend, Lady Marian (Lucy Griffiths) is the daughter of the previous Sheriff. She is not only sought after by Robin, but Sir Guy of Gisborne (Richard Armitage) wants to marry her as well.

This death was one very few people saw coming. Maid Marion wasn't killed in the legendary stories, so to have her die was a shock. She was stabbed by Guy of Gisborne in the Holy Land, and died in Robin's arms.
4. Characters were killed off regularly on "Game of Thrones". Which character died in the season six episode "The Door"?

Answer: Hodor

"Game of Thrones" is the television adaptation of the fantasy novels written by George R. R. Martin from the series "A Song of Ice and Fire".

For those who have never watched the show, Hodor (Kristian Nairn) is a servant for the house of Stark who is simple. He doesn't say anything except Hodor, which isn't his name, but it is what he is eventually called.

Earlier flashbacks of his character have shown that he wasn't always simple; he was once able to talk. Apparently he had some sort of seizure when he was a child that caused brain damage. Hodor wasn't just killed in this episode; the reason for his brain damage is explained.

Hodor sacrifices himself so that Bran and Meera can get away from the wights that wish to kill them, but it is how it happens that makes it so tragic.

Bran was inside a vision of the past and Meera tried unsuccessfully to wake him up. Previously when they had been in trouble, Bran had been able to warg into Hodor, or take control of Hodor's mind, to make him do what Bran needed to save them. When Meera urged Bran to warg into Hodor, Bran did as requested, but split his consciousness to do so, he didn't wake up from his original vision. Bran warged into present day Hodor's body and controlled it, while he was in the past with the younger Hodor. This seemed to create a link between the Hodor in the past and the one in the present. When Meera told Hodor to "hold the door," both the Hodors could hear it. As a result, while the older Hodor stayed back and held the door, the younger Hodor saw himself being stabbed, scratched and killed. Witnessing his death in the future damaged young Hodor's mind and he just kept repeating Meera's words, "hold the door," till it turned into Hodor, the only word he would ever say again.
