Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to the manual, is it OK to wear shoes when dancing?

Answer: No

Shoes can damage the sensors in the pad, because of the weight and hard surface. Also it can be dangerous because you could slip and fall. The manual also advises not to wear socks.
2. What does the manual suggest you place around the Dance Pad?

Answer: cushions

The dance pad can be very slippery at times especially if it gets covered with sweat or other liquids. Cushions should be placed around the Dance Pad just in case you fall. This way the cushions will- well, cushion your fall, if you happen to.
3. Which button do you hold on the Dance pad, while dancing to quit a song?

Answer: Start

This, however, gives you an automatic F rating not counting any of the arrows you hit. The start button also allows you to pause the game or confirm options.
4. According to the manual, the pad, if covered with a white powder when opened is very dangerous and the pad should be taken back to the store and replaced with another one.

Answer: False

The powder on the pad is not toxic at all. It is just packaging powder and should be wiped off with a towel.
5. How many buttons does the Dance pad have?

Answer: eight

There are eight buttons on the Dance Pad most of them based on the Gamecube controller. The buttons are Z, A, B, Start, Down, Up, Left, and Right. Unlike the Gamecube controller there are no X, Y, or C buttons.
6. If you watch the introductory video all the way through, you see the basic plot line of the story. Who broke the seal to the Music Keys?

Answer: Waluigi

All of the following are bosses in the game except for Lakitu. However, you do face him in a duel in World 2. Waluigi is the boss for World 1, a Giant Blooper is the boss of World 2, Wario is the boss of World 3, a Giant Freezie is the boss of World 4, and Bowser of course is the boss of World 5.
7. The first thing you may want to do is go to the workout menu and keep track of how many calories you burn during a song. What button, on the character select screen, do you press to switch between names?

Answer: Z button

The left and right buttons will just switch between difficulties while the start button will obviously start you. The workout option is very useful, because it tells in total how many calories you burn when you select your character. Also on the workout screen, it shows how many calories you burned using the dance pad in the time you just played, and also tells how many calories you had burned in the past times you used the dance pad.
8. The first song in the game is "Left, Right, Up, Down." This is a very easy song based off what little ditty?

Answer: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This is a very easy song designed to get you started if you have never played, "Dance Dance Revolution" before. It introduces you to all the arrows as you dance in space on a star.
9. What is unique about Easy Mode?

Answer: It only has left and right arrows

Easy Mode, is very... well easy. Mush Mode which contains enemies and coins is only available in Normal Mode and up. Up and down arrows likewise only appear in Normal Mode.
10. In story mode, who accompanies Mario?

Answer: Toad

Toad, the annoying person who can never seem to protect Princess Peach, is back. He always makes excuses as to why he can't dance but he provides some good comic relief in the game.
11. The first song in story mode is called "Here We Go!" This is based on which Mario game?

Answer: Super Mario Bros.

Several songs such as "Here We Go!" and "Blooper Bop," are based on songs from "Super Mario Bros". "Super Mario World" makes an appearance as the secret song for World 2.
12. After the first song you go to a warp pipe. However there is an enemy in the pipe and you must play a mini-game to enter it. What game must you play to enter the warp-pipe?

Answer: Whack-A-Goomba

Goombas the helpless evil mushrooms pop out of four pipes and you must whack them with your Hammer of Doom. You have to get at least ten to clear the game even though it's very easy to beat that record. You must use the arrow buttons to hit them.
13. After beating the mini-game you get to Truffle Towers where the Music Keys are kept safe. However, Waluigi spoils your fun by dropping a Bob-omb on you and sends Mario into a green pipe which is too deep for him to jump out of. Mario must dance to a song by a famous composer. Which famous composer does Mario dance to?

Answer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

All except for Sousa are famous composers from Europe. Sousa was known as the father of marches conducting famous songs such as "Stars and Stripes", but that's not what this question is about. The name of this song, "Underground Mozart," should have given the answer away.
14. After getting out of the pipe, you run across Lakitu who runs a store. He has the Key to Truffle Tower on display but will not give it to you unless you do him a favor by dancing. What is the name of the song you dance to when you do the favor?

Answer: Garden Boogie

Each of these is a dance of the four worlds. "Garden Boogie" involves you dancing to keep Koopas out of Lakitu's carrot patch. "Jump! Jump! Jump!" is from World 2 and involves you fixing a hotel of Toadette's. "Hammer Dance," is a duel against the Hammer Bros. of World 3. "Frozen Pipes" is the first song of World 4 involving you to dance to get through a warp pipe.

The song, "Garden Boogie" is based on the famous opera, "Carmen."
15. After helping Lakitu you play a short mini-game called "Flagpole Leap," then you go to Truffle Towers where you find Waluigi with a Music Key waiting. You must battle him in a dance-off to get the key back. What game is the song based on?

Answer: Wrecking Crew

This is an old-school NES game. The song is called "Destruction Dance," and is one of my favorites in the game. In Mush Mode, you must stomp on Podoboos in order to keep Bob-ombs diffused. This is your first duel game where you dance off against Waluigi who is a very easy foe since it is World 1. After beating him you get your first music key.
16. After defeating Waluigi, you play a short mini-game that involves coins and/or items, then you head off to World 2. World 2 mostly resembles what?

Answer: An ocean

The field was World 1, an amusement park is World 3, and a frosty mountain is World 4. There is also a very short world based on Bowser's Castle which is World 5.
17. After running into Tweester, you unravel a hotel into a corkscrew and the owner comes screaming out. Who is the owner of the hotel?

Answer: Toadette

Toadette, ever since her first appearance in "Mario Kart: Double Dash," has been appearing in a lot of games, and "Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix" is no exception. In this stage you must dance to an awesome techno remix of the "Super Mario Bros. 3" main theme which is called, "Jump! Jump! Jump!"
18. After fixing the hotel, the owner tells you where the second music key must be. After a disaster occurs, you land on an island with your partner. You then play a game that involves Ukkiki the monkey. What is the mini-game called?

Answer: Banana Storm

"Banana Storm" is the only real game on this list. This involves Mario running beneath 3 Ukkikis trying to catch bananas that they drop in a basket. In this game you use the left and right arrows to run from tree to tree. Sometimes Ukkiki tricks you by dropping bananas or by dropping a Spiny. If you catch a Spiny, you can't move for a while.
19. After completing the Ukkiki Mini-Game, you drop into your old buddy Lakitu again who is running another store. In this store he has on display a Boogie Booster which is handy for a certain part of the world. What is the name of the song you duel him with?

Answer: Fishing Frenzy

Again, this includes a song from each world. You must battle Lakitu in a fishing duel, but you're dancing most of the time.
Isn't that a bit fishy?! *crowd boos* Yeah I know that was terrible!
20. After getting the Boogie Booster you can finally enter the hazard that was preventing you from getting the Music Key earlier. You must dance in order to get through the hazard. The song "In The Whirlpool is being played while you're going through the hazard. What famous song is "In The Whirlpool" based on?

Answer: Pomp and Circumstance

"Pomp and Circumstance" is a famous song known mostly from graduation ceremonies. We will continue the end of World 2 and Worlds 3-5 on the next addition of this quiz. Until next time. -SandK
