Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Lan jack Megaman into in order to save the girl at the game's beginning?

Answer: RoboDog

Right when Lan arrives in Cyber City, he explores the park outside of his house to find a RoboDog infested with Mettaur viruses attacking a cute girl. Lan and Megaman naturally save the day by deleting the viruses. This three round battle also serves as the traditional "Battle Network" tutorial.
2. The first time you meet up with Blastman in battle, how much damage can you do to him in a single attack (without any alterations of power)?

Answer: 300

The attack in question is the GigaCan1 Program Advance. It is formed by selecting the battle chips Cannon A, Cannon B, and either Cannon C or Cannon * in that order, and can take out 75% of Blastman's 400 HP. You start the game with Cannons A and B, and can find Cannons C and * in green mystery data in the RobCtrlComp system in the teacher's lounge of Lan's new school.
3. Once the game's next chapter begins, a trading chain has begun. You can trade a chip to a girl in one of the school's classrooms for another chip, then trade that chip to someone else for a different chip, and so on. What chip do you need to begin the chain?

Answer: EnergBom K

You can find the EnergBom K in blue mystery data in the blackboard of Class 1-1. You can then trade the DublShot C to a boy in the aquarium for a HiBoomer V, trade that for a GrabRvng I to a navi in the WaterMchComp. The GrabRvng I is desired by a woman in Sky Town, who gives you a BigBomb O chip. Finally, a navi in the ACDC HP takes the BigBomb O and gives you a JustcOne J to end the chain. Each step becomes available after defeating a WWW boss navi, beginning with Blastman, ending with Colonel, and skipping over Judgeman.
4. In which computer in Lan's house is the virus that has the repair Navi's ToolPrgm?

Answer: toilet

Yes, in the future, toilets apparently have computers built into them. A Mettaur virus took the Navi's ToolPrgm (a cyber plunger) when he was making repairs to the toilet, and is now using it as a hat. Despite Megaman's protests, Lan sends Megaman into the toilet's computer to delete the virus and reclaim the ToolPrgm.
5. Where in the Aquarium can you find a RegUP1?

Answer: trash can

Lan goes to the Aquarium with his new friend Mick to return a runaway penguin (which has taken quite the shine to Mick). After handing the penguin off to the Director and looking at the animals, the boys attend a dolphin show at the stage/dolphin tank. When the show is over, the RegUP1 can be found by pressing the A button in front of the trash can.
6. After the school day following Lan's visit to the Aquarium, the game's story changes depending on which version you're playing ("Cybeast Gregar" or "Cybeast Falzar"). The change occurs with the introduction of a new Operator of a future Link Navi for Lan to use and the powers of which Megaman can use. Which is the first Link Navi you encounter?

Answer: Heatman/Spoutman

In "Cybeast Gregar", former WWW agent-turned-teacher has Lan use Heatman's fire abilities to delete Kettle viruses scattered across the Central Area Net. In "Cybeast Gregar", Shuko (the girl from the TV series who is bad luck incarnate) has Lan use Spoutman's water abilities to gather the Aquarium's cyberfish that have been scattered across the Seaside Area Net.

In both versions, you battle the Navi you used after completing the first test and are able to use them and their powers after winning.
7. Where does Megaman absorb the Cybeast?

Answer: Central Area 3

Acting on a seemingly psychic premonition, Iris (the girl Lan saved at the beginning of the game) keeps Lan from sending Megaman to the Jamboree in Central Area 3. This turns out to be a good thing, since Circusman absorbed the energy of the Navis attending the Jamboree and used it to revive the Cybeasts from a nearby pit, then proceeds to absorb one of them. Lan sends Megaman to investigate what has happened, and finds the remaining Cybeast (the one whose name is the subtitle of the version you are playing) where it was revived.

However, Megaman must Jack Out to avoid deletion. After eavesdropping on a conversation between his father and another scientist, Lan learns of Megaman's supersized memory bank and sends him back to Central Area 3. The Cybeast has moved to the route leading to Seaside Area, but Megaman absorbs it into his system before it can invade the Seaside Area.
8. When your new Link Navi partner retrieves the HealWatr they use it to prevent the Cybeast Megaman that was absorbed from destroying him, Megaman must then defeat Circusman, the Navi responsible for the recent trouble. What is the strongest attack Circusman uses?

Answer: Gloom Cage

Happy Clap does 20 damage and brings two hands together to crush Megaman. Fire Ring does 20 damage and shoots lions through rings of fire at Megaman. Gloom Cage hits 3 times at 23 damage per hit and encapsulates Megaman within a tent. Big Top is not an attack.
9. How many Zennies does it take to join the group of Navis studying to become lawyers?

Answer: 1,000

Because Lan foiled the schemes of Blackbeard (the seafarer who terrorized the Aquarium a while back), the Aquarium's director summons Lan to Blackbeard's trial in Green Town. For Lan to enter the courthouse, however, Megaman needs to get AuthData from Green Area 2. To get to Green Area 2, Megaman needs to get past the security gate in Green Area 1 by answering a question about the laws of Green Town.

It is at this point that Megaman must pay the 1000 Zenny entrance fee so one of the members of the group will reveal the answer Megaman needs.
10. After testifying against Blackbeard and obtaining a new Link Navi from a nearby class (Slashman in "Cybeast Gregar" and Tenguman in "Cybeast Falzar") Lan learns that his father has been arrested. What crime has he been accused of?

Answer: hacking the Judge Tree

Instead of a human judge, Green Town uses a tree that has been fitted with a computer system instead; despite the fact that computers in Lan's world are so easily hacked, Green Town still feels a computer would be less fallible and corruptible than a person. Lan refuses to believe that his father would hack into a computer system and sets out to prove his innocence.
11. Who is the real criminal (the one that framed Lan's dad)?

Answer: Prosecutor Ito

After Lan finds security footage of Ito deleting data from one of the school's security cameras, he corners Ito in Green Town's courthouse. Ito then reveals that he became a prosecutor to rid the Earth of all crime, but soon realized that such a task was impossible as long as people exist.

As a result, he is now trying to wipe out humanity and start over to create a better society (in his own, twisted way).
12. What is the only Navi Cross obtained so far that Judgeman does NOT have a counter for?

Answer: Tengu Cross

In "Cybeast Gregar", Judgeman can stop Heat Cross with his Strange Shield - Bubble attack (water beats fire) and can knock Megaman out of Slash Cross with his Strange Shield - Punch attack (break beats sword). In "Cybeast Falzar", Judgeman's Bind Chain attack can eliminate Spout Cross (electric beats water). However, Judgeman has no sword attacks to stop the wind element Tengu Cross.
13. In which computer system in Sky Town can you purchase Rush Food?

Answer: Shower

Before you enter the weather station in Sky Town, you pass by the above four objects, each representing different weather patterns. Each has its own computer system that you can jack Megaman into in order to gain items within. In the Showercomp, there is a mean looking navi that actually sells you pieces of Rush Food for 3000 zennys per piece. If you use a piece on a bone-shaped, outlined panel in the cyberworld, the loveable cyberdog Rush will appear and create a permanent bridge over that panel.

These panels will lead to either shortcuts or items.
14. Which Customizer Program can you find within purple mystery data inside Sky HP?

Answer: AutoHeal Pink

If you have an Unlocker Subchip with you upon entering Sky HP, you can open the data and acquire this program, which automatically restores some of Megaman's HP after each battle. Just be careful to follow the Customizer's rules when installing the program, or any panels Megaman steps onto might become cracked.
15. Elementman has the same number of elements as he does elemental attacks.

Answer: False

Elementman has five forms that he shifts between, going from null element to wood to fire to electric to aqua and back again. But despite the fact that one of his forms does not have an element, all five of his attacks are elemental. He has wood, fire, electric, and aquatic attacks that he will only use in his corresponding elemental form, and a wind attack he can use at any time.
16. After defeating Elementman, who shows up at AsterLand to sell battle chips?

Answer: Famous

Mr. Famous (or "Famous", as he likes to be called) sells chips that are usually otherwise hard to find, and are more useful in netbattles with friends who also have a copy of the game. You will eventually need the chips to complete your data library and reach future challenges in the game.
17. What is the password to open the gate between Undernet 1 and Undernet 2?

Answer: moneyhats

Throughout the game, Lan and Megaman are in a competition to find an Operator Navi as a guide to the upcoming Expo in Cyber City. The final round consists of finding a MoonSton in Undernet 2, but to get there, you need to get past the gate in Undernet 1.

After following a few clues, Lan finds the person who knows the password (who ends up being a girl running a toy shop by the aquarium). After pestering her for a while, she finally gives up the password.
18. Is it possible for Colonel to defeat Megaman in one attack?

Answer: Yes

Colonel's Aspire Break attack does 150 damage, and he only uses it once Megaman's HP is lower than Aspire Break's damage rating. Theoretically, if you haven't been gathering any HP memory or using HP+ Customizer programs, then Megaman's default setting of 100 HP allows him to be defeated by Colonel's finishing move in one shot.
19. What super-valuable item do you get after buying several cups of coffee at the Central Area 1 Net Cafe?

Answer: Bugstop Yellow Customizer Program

The coffee vendors at each Net Cafe add a new piece of advice for Megaman for each chapter of the game that passes. After defeating Colonel, you can keep buying coffee in Central Area 1 until you get the Bugstop Yellow. As long as it is touching the command line in the Navi Customizer, you can break every rule of the Navi Customizer without any bugs, including placing programs outside the Customizer's grid. Using this technique, you can install the best programs into Megaman without worrying about arranging them properly or the bugs that come with improper customization.
20. In what order (from first to last) do you fight the EX versions of the WWW navis within the Expo's PavilonComp systems?

Answer: Judgeman, Elementman, Circusman

The EX versions of Blastman, Diveman, and Colonel are not present in any of the four PavilonComp systems. The first computer is empty; you must return Mr. Progs to their tanks as you did in the Aquarium computer system. The second system mimics that of the Judge Tree, right down to Judgeman at the end.

The third computer copies the Mr. Weather computer, and has Elementman at the end. The final Pavilon Comp is just like the RobCtrlComp at the school, but Blastman has been replaced by Circusman as the boss. Together, the PavilonComps guard a secret passage between the Expo and the school.
21. When you finally face down the Cybeast, how much HP does it have?

Answer: depends on the Cybeast

In "Cybeast Gregar", you face off against Gregar, who has 2500 HP. It is in the form of a wolf (and bears a striking resemblance to the Grave Virus Beast from "Mega Man Battle Network 2") and attacks using its head, claws, breath, and mane. In "Cybeast Falzar", you fight Falzar, who has 2000 HP.

It takes the form of a bird and attacks with its feathers, claws, breath, and body (once you deplete its HP substantially).
22. Once you beat the Cybeast, a BugFrag Trader appears somewhere in the cyberworld. You can deposit into it ten bug frags in order to get a very good chip in return. Where does the trader appear?

Answer: Underground 2

The two Underground areas make up the deep pit below Central Area 3. If you go back into Underground 2 after defeating the Cybeast, the trader will be in the lower level in the northeast corner. Although acquiring bug frags to use is very time consuming, the trader even gives up the SP versions of the chips of the Navis you encountered throughout the game, which can give you much more powerful attacks to choose from.
23. Throughout the game, how many Giga chips do you get from defeating Bass's various versions?

Answer: Two

Thankfully, Bass once again has no protective aura to deal with, but his massive damage ratings can finish you off quickly if you aren't careful. He has three versions which you can face throughout the game. His normal version gives up not a Giga chip but rather a BatKey; this item open a gate in the Graveyard which blocks the path to an AttckMAX Red Customizer Program.

His SP version gives up Bass F in "Cybeast Gregar" and BassAnly F in "Cybeast Falzar". If you can later manage to defeat Bass's unfathomably strong BX version, he gives up the ColForce C chip in "Cybeast Gregar" and HubBatc J in "Cybeast Falzar".
24. You can get marks on the game's title screen by beating the Cybeast, collecting all Standard, Mega, and Giga chips, performing all Program Advances, and beating Bass SP, but there is secret mark (which not even the strategy guide tells you about) that you can get by beating Protoman FZ. What must you do to fight Protoman FZ?

Answer: complete all Request BBS jobs

There are thirty-five jobs in all, many of which take some hard work to complete. Once you complete all of them, Chaud gives you a phone call to admit Lan's skills rival that of a Net Official. Chaud then challenges Lan and Megaman to battle Protoman's most powerful version, and tells them to come to Lan's classroom if they accept.
25. Do Lan and Maylu finally become a couple in the end?

Answer: Yes

Throughout the "Megaman Battle Network" series, allusions are made to the crush that Maylu has on Lan. Everyone seems to be able to tell how Maylu feels, except Lan, who is always oblivious. As always, once you beat the game's main boss (in this case, the Cybeast), you get a little movie to show what happens to everyone after Lan and Megaman save the world.

This time, Lan's friends sit around talking about their hopes and dreams for the future. After fast forwarding 20 years into the future, we are told that everyone's dreams came true, including Maylu's desire to be with Lan.

Although we never actually see any characters in the future, we hear a conversation between Lan and Maylu (now about 30 years old and married) who are living in Lan's old house in ACDC Town. We soon hear that Megaman is still going strong, and Lan and Maylu even have a son together named Patch.
