Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where do you find the Space Jump Boots?

Answer: Dark Agon Wastes

The Space Jump Boots are an innovation found in the first "Metroid Prime" game, and while they do transcribe into "Echoes", Samus loses them during her coup with the Ing in Dark Aether (they did leave a bad first impression, didn't they). Samus can regain these only by defeating the Jump Guardian, a boss found in the Judgment Pit in Dark Agon Wastes.

Although Samus will normally jump with the B button, pressing B again in the air will result in an additional jump. To defeat the Jump Guardian, simply use your tactics that you would hold for any normal Warrior Ing, stay in the light, and make sure you watch where you move.
2. Which of these add-ons is first to be found in the game?

Answer: Boost Ball

Although Samus' Morph Ball technique remains unscathed from the Ing beating in Dark Aether, this doesn't mean that all of Samus' Morph Ball attributes from the first game carry over. The Boost Ball is in the Dark Torvus Arena, guarded by the Boost Guardian. Power Bombs are found a bit later. To obtain them, the Power Bomb Guardian is the likely opposition.

The Power Bomb is in the Under Temple of Dark Torvus Bog. It can be found in The Spider Ball is next chronologically, being obtained after beating the (go figure) Spider Guardian in the Dynamo Works of Sanctuary Fortress. All three of these existed in the original "Metroid Prime" game for the Gamecube
3. In which area does Samus receive the Dark Suit?

Answer: Dark Agon Wastes

The Dark Suit is Samus' prize for defeating the Amorbis monster in the Dark Agon Temple of Dark Agon Wastes (see the similarities?). In order to defeat the Amorbis, a healthy dose of missile shots and Morph Ball Bombs will eventually do the beasts in.

The Dark Suit is a wondrous creation in itself. Rather than traverse the Dark Aether locales taking on extreme degenerative damage, Samus will now be able to traverse the Dark Aether locales taking slightly less degenerative damage. It doesn't sound like much, but eventually, those light orbs become few and far between, and certain boss battles are made a bit easier by the notion.
4. In what location is the Gravity Boost used?

Answer: Underwater

Found in a seemingly insignificant storage chamber just off to the side of the Main Hydrochamber of Torvus Bog, the Gravity Boost will only assist Samus during the underwater portions of the game. Although it won't have substantial use in the majority of the game, it will allow Samus to get the second Dark Torvus Key after competing against Alpha Blogg.

The Space Jump Boots may be the key to executing this accessory. During the second jump, holding down the B button will allow Samus to get her temporary jet boost underwater.

While it may not seem like much, it's all a matter of timing, and it may be the only thing that gets you to the next ledge.
5. The Grapple Beam fires using which button?

Answer: L

The Grapple Beam is a unique item found in the Sacrificial Chamber of Dark Torvus Bog's lower half. In order to obtain this previously-owned weapon, Samus must defeat the Grapple Guardian, a dark creature that's similar to a Grenchler from Torvus Bog.

As the creature runs around the arena shooting its Grapple Beam, Samus must ensure that its Grapple Beam gets caught to large energy beams in the sides of the room. When this happens, she can get in behind the creature and shoot Missiles or the Light Beam into its weakened back shell. Near the end of the battle, the shell will break (along with the energy beams) and Samus will need to be dexterous to finish the battle.
6. The Dark Visor is obtained after defeating which boss?

Answer: Chykka

After Samus collects the Dark Torvus Keys from around the region, she can open the door outside Dark Torvus Temple and proceed to defeat the major boss of the region, Chykka. Following the battle, the Dark Visor will be integrated into Samus' HUD, and using this, Samus will be able to see things that would normally be invisible to the naked eye. Working much like the X-Ray Visor in the original "Metroid Prime", the Dark Visor will accentuate certain 'invisible' objects in order for Samus to use them.

This is particularly helpful in finding certain keys later in the game.
7. Which boss is fought directly before obtaining the Echo Visor?

Answer: Dark Samus

The Echo Visor is the second of two obtainable visors in the game, and while the Dark Visor allows Samus to locate things on alternate dimensions, the Echo Visor is used to locate specific switches and points of interest via sound waves and echolocation. Immediately after Samus defeats Dark Samus (the second incarnation) in the Aerie portion of Sanctuary Fortress, she will need to go back and forth between dimensions to find this particular piece of equipment. Important things found with the Echo Visor will be denoted in orange or with a little symbol.
8. The Screw Attack accessory is found in which room?

Answer: Vault

The Vault can only be found on one of the far ends of Sanctuary Fortress, and once Samus enters the room, it's soon discovered why the Vault is the area's name. The Screw Attack is directly in the center of the room behind indestructible metal bars. Thankfully, whoever designed the vault itself must've had a lapse of judgment, because all Samus needs to do is direct four lasers into the security device, fire them all at once, and break the seal.

The Screw Attack is excellent for both spanning long gaps and for attacking enemies.

As well, Samus can now wall jump up certain types of walls...which makes the item perfect for getting the final Ing Hive Temple Key.
9. Which of these will the Light Suit not do?

Answer: Reduce the amount of ammo needed to fire beam weapons

The Light Suit is the third and final suit of the game, though it's only the second found. This suit is given to Samus by U-Mos when she brings the third and final bit of energy back from Sanctuary Fortress' energy controller. Once Samus suits up in this white outfit, she'll be able to use the energy controller locations to travel back and forth between Torvus Bog, Agon Wastes, the Temple Grounds, and Sanctuary Fortress without having to take the long way around via elevators.

As well, rather than simply decrease the amount of damage taken in Dark Aether's toxic atmosphere, the Light Suit will negate the damage taken entirely, and Samus can now travel into the dark, murky waters there as well.
10. How many Energy Tanks are found throughout the game?

Answer: Fourteen

With fourteen Energy Tanks, this brings Samus potential maximum health to 1,499 points. Although Samus only starts out with a meager 99 health, these expansions will prove to be very valuable, especially nearing the end of the game. Samus can not gain extra health in any other way. Samus' health is restored at Save Stations and through the collection of Energy Orbs found around Aether and Dark Aether.

These orbs vary in denomination and colour, and can be found in various crates or storage units, or by defeating enemies.
