"Metroid Prime 2: Echoes" Weapons Quiz

It's pretty obvious that the enemies of Aether and Dark Aether are hostile. Based on this, Samus' weapons in "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes" (GCN) are a major requirement. Do you remember these weapons and the facts about them? Good luck!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the first weapon that Samus obtains in the course of the game?

Answer: Missile Launcher

Although Samus will lose many of her weapons in her first trip to Dark Aether (the crime rates there are subpar, I must say), the Missile Launcher will be the first necessary weapon in order for Samus to navigate both versions of Aether. Missiles will knockout red-covered doorways, and they will be integral in the fusions of numerous beam-missile combos.

Although Samus will only begin with five missiles, more will come to expand the total held. Samus does not need to fight any bosses to earn this weapon; she can find it in Temple Grounds East.
2. How many Morph Ball Bombs can Samus lay in succession?

Answer: Three

The Morph Ball Bomb is the first Morph Ball add-on that Samus obtains during the game. Despite the raid in Dark Aether, Samus does hold onto the ability to morph into the ball form to squeeze and roll through tight spaces. Morph Ball Bomb technology doesn't change from the original "Metroid Prime". Timing the release of the bombs is key in Samus' navigation in Morph Ball areas of Aether. Samus can find the Morph Ball Bomb in Agon Wastes by defeating the Alpha Sandigger (which becomes the Bomb Guardian). Morph Ball Bombs are mighty good at destroying anything composed of Talloric Alloy, so anytime Samus comes across it, it might be to an advantage to cause some demolition.
3. The Dark Beam is the first new beam weapon that Samus obtains. Where is it found?

Answer: Agon Wastes

The Dark Beam is one of three available beam weapons (outside the Power Beam itself) that Samus will come across through the course of the game. In order to obtain it, Samus will need to cross into the laboratories of the Agon Wastes and fight Dark Samus in the Main Reactor. Following the actual battle (not the last with this character, I assure you), the actual Dark Beam can be found within Storage Room D, located directly adjacent to the battle room.

The Dark Beam opens Dark Beam doors which are designated by an odd, purplish, swirling glow.

As well, certain enemies across the map will have a certain weakness to the Dark Beam's shots, but it really depends on the situation.
4. The Light Beam is obtained after battling Amorbis.

Answer: False

The Light Beam is a crucial instrument (the second of two beams) which is needed to receive the Dark Agon Waste Keys and restore the power from the Agon Wastes to the Great Temple. This gun works in tandem with the Dark Beam. When each gun is fired at certain caches, items, or enemies, ammo from the opposing gun will be dropped and easily collected.

The Light Beam opens the whiter Light Doors around Aether and unlike the other guns collected, it will shoot through enemies in the way. Samus can find the Light Beam in an Ing Cache room in Dark Agon Wastes. Following this, defeating Amorbis will result in the Dark Suit.
5. Super Missiles break open doors that are denoted by which colour?

Answer: Green

Although Samus has the ability to shoot through nearly any door on Aether, sometimes, malevolent forces will lock off important areas from Samus' reach. Green locked doors will be unlocked by the Super Missile, a Missile/Power Beam/Charge Shot combo that uses five missiles to shoot.

This super-powerful shot will break through many enemies and barriers (look out for weak spots though), and it can be found in Torvus Temple of the non-Dark Torvus Bog. The game doesn't give it up easy though; Samus will need to fight off some angry Space Pirates (some flying and some not) that plan to protect the add-on.
6. Up to how many missiles can the Seeker Missile Launcher shoot at once?

Answer: Five

Obtained after a unique spinning room/puzzle thing in the Temple Grounds' Hall of the Honored Dead, the Seeker Missile Launcher opens purple-locked doors around the worlds by using the Missile Launcher to release five separate missiles at predetermined enemies or targets (which are usually purple as well in the case of locked doors).

In order to do this, the player must hold the Y button after launching an initial missile to activate the Seeker Launcher. After this, Samus can aim at specific targets or enemies and fire up to five different missiles.

The collection of this weapon add-on will also result in a Missile Expansion of five.
7. When Samus first claims the Power Bomb add-on, how many bombs is she able to hold at once?

Answer: Two

To earn her Power Bombs back, Samus must travel to the undertemple of Torvus Bog once she has her Spider Ball and make her way into Dark Aether. Once she reaches the room where she originally fought the Alpha Blogg (on the light side it was the Main Hydrochamber), she will be able to oppose the Power Bomb Guardian; the final sub-guardian of the game. Retrieving this will, in turn, allow Samus to have all of the items she had at the start of the game (and through the first "Metroid Prime"). Power Bombs are expandable, much like Missiles, so two is not the maximum through the game. Power Bombs break through Denzium and yellow-locked doors.
8. Which beam makes exclusive use of the Sonic Boom?

Answer: Annihilator Beam

The Annihilator Beam is the third and final upgrade to Samus' beam arsenal, and it's possibly the strongest of them all. Every shot of the Annihilator Beam will make use of one Light Beam ammo and one Dark Beam ammo, so every shot needs to count. Every charged shot will result in the gradual depletion of both beams.

This will also open doors with radiating glowiness, leaving only certain other doors to be unlocked by the point this is obtained. The Annihilator Beam will eventually make use of the Sonic Boom Missile add-on.

This weapon is obtained in the Hive Temple of the Ing Hive, but Samus needs to beat Quadraxis to get it.
9. If you've just fired a Super Missile, a Darkburst shot, a Sunburst shot, and a shot from the Sonic Boom, how many individual Missiles have you just used?

Answer: Twenty

All of these shots are extremely powerful and should be used with the utmost caution; you don't want to have to waste the ammunition found in the game. Super Missiles are the first to be found in the Hall of the Honored Dead on the Temple Grounds. The Darkshot, using five Missiles and 30 Dark Beam ammo is found in Mining Station B of Agon Wastes, and the Sunburst, using five Missiles and 30 Light Beam ammo is found in the Grand Windchamber of the Temple Grounds.

The Sonic Boom, using five Missiles, and 30 ammunition of both the Light and Dark Beam, is found in Ing Cache 2 of Dark Agon Wastes.
10. If Samus collects all of the Beam Ammo Expansions throughout the game, how much Light Ammo will she have?

Answer: 250

Because Samus begins her journey with 50 Beam Ammo (after obtaining the Dark Beam in the Main Reactor of Agon Wastes), and because she obtains four expansions for her ammo supply, she will end with a total of 250 for both beams. As well as this, Samus will need to collect Energy Tanks (fourteen of them), forty-nine Missile Expansions (to give a complete total of 255 Missiles, and eight Power Bomb Expansions to leave Samus with a maximum of ten. All of these expandables are found throughout the game, and often, Samus will need to scratch below the surface to get to them.
