Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What odd creatures will the Dark Torvus Boss, Dark Chykka, fire at Samus?

Answer: Chyklings

Although this is probably one of the more intense boss battles of the game, many different exclusive scans can be found here including the different forms of Chykka that appear. Chyklings are rather small offspring of Dark Chykka (a large, moth-like creature) that will be sprayed at Samus as a distraction. Luckily, they tend to hold important items like health and ammo, and these can be a great help in the long run.

They can be killed with a couple of single shots from the Power Beam...unlike the boss, which requires a combination of tactics and weapons.
2. A two-piece robot tends to appear in Sanctuary Fortress with a head a set of legs. What is the name of the head?

Answer: Quad CM

Quad CM and Quad MB make up the unit known as Quad M8, a rather formidable mechanoid creature found in both Sanctuary Fortress and in a dark form in Ing Hive. The special characteristic of this enemy is the fact that its head and body are two separate creatures.

The body will use its four legs (hence 'Quad') to swipe and spin at Samus. Samus will need to use the Boost Ball to knock some sense into it and a Bomb or two to finish it off. The head will detach from the body if it isn't killed with concussive blows first, so Samus can deal with this as well. Using laser systems (and a shield if it detaches), Samus will have to avoid its oncoming fire.

The boss of Ing Hive's Temple, Quadraxis, is a much larger model of this creature.
3. Blogglings can be defeated with the Power Beam.

Answer: True

The distinction between Blogglings, Bloggs, and Alpha Blogg are their relative size. Blogglings tend to be much smaller creatures, and because of this, they tend to be a lot easier to defeat. While their bulkier upper-half will be strong, shooting its tail end will result in a quick victory, regardless of weapon. Bloggs will require a bit more work though; Samus can defeat one by shooting missiles as it lunges forth with an open mouth.

The same can be said for the leader, the Alpha Blogg, though it requires a bit more firepower.
4. Excluding bosses, how many different types of Metroid are found within the game?

Answer: Three

Although the common, everyday Tallon Metroid is found in Agon Wastes' Pirate Trooper mines, you can also spot Infant Tallon Metroids coming out of the cocoons in the same area. These Metroids can be killed with repetitive blasts to their tops (Missiles are our friends). On top of these, we can find Dark Tallon Metroids in Dark Aether versions of our favourite Agon Wastes and Temple Ground locations.

These Metroids, like their normal counterparts, tend to have a weird affinity for Phazon, so avoiding the stuff is probably good.
5. Which Ing creature floats through the air?

Answer: Hunter Ing

While the Warrior Ing is probably the most prominent of these creatures, the Hunter Ing will make their appearances from time to time floating through the air and attacking with sharp tentacles. Although these creatures are only fought in Dark Aether, their tentacles have the ability to reach into light-protection zones and attack regardless.

The best method of fighting off these beasts is by shooting a light beacon with the Annihilator Beam, but they are also quite weak to the Light Beam and the Sunburst. Warrior Ing tend to be a bit more active on the battlefield which may be a bit worse for Samus in battle, but they tend to be quite a bit weaker in comparison.
6. What is the name of the only enemy that spawns from its own hive?

Answer: War Wasp

War Wasps are also from the original "Metroid Prime" games. The odd thing about these creatures it the fact that they will often spawn in groups of about three, four, or five per existing hive. Killing them usually proves quite simple due to the fact that a few Power Beam shots will often plow right through them. To prevent them from spawning altogether, a single missile straight into the hive will destroy it and everything inside.

As well, like with most other enemies, they and their hives will respawn after Samus leaves the area for a prolonged period of time.
7. Which type of enemy will cause Samus' suit to lock up, making her reboot her system?

Answer: Rezbit

Although the Rezbits are only found in Sanctuary Fortress, this Mechanoid will scramble Samus' suit and upgrades, rendering them unusable until the L, R, and B button are pressed to reactivate the system. This security creature will also shoot charged shots at targets.

A charged Dark Beam shot will cause the creature to malfunction and freeze in place, and in doing this, Samus can quickly shoot a concussive blow to the robot to blow it up. Ideally, this can be done before a Rezbit even takes a shot at attacking Samus, but the creature also comes with an expandable shield in tow. Shooting this, regardless of which weapon is used, will prove futile.
8. Which is a weapon that will damage Pillbugs?

Answer: Morph Ball Bomb

Pillbugs are only found in Morph Ball Tunnels/caves/crevices, and because of this they will only be killed when Samus is in Morph Ball mode to begin with. Although these enemies really don't pose too big of a threat, having a well-timed bomb will knock the creature off of whatever platform it rests on, and a second while it is stunned will destroy the creature altogether. Later on in the game, Samus will use a similar tactic against the Spider Guardian in order to get the Spider Ball add-on. The only difference is that this creature's armor will not be penetrated by bombs- much more powerful sources of damage will be required.
9. Which of these enemies does not pose a threat necessarily, but provides light in Dark Aether?

Answer: Lightbringer

Lightbringers automatically generate a large orb of light to protect Samus from harm in the dark, poisonous atmosphere of Dark Aether. They only tend to be earlier on in the game, and their use is pretty much negated by the time you claim Samus' Light Suit, but the fact of the matter is that they really only do the main character a world of good. Regardless, this creature can be killed with the Dark Beam due to the fact that their polarities are complete opposites.
10. Which of these enemies can not be defeated?

Answer: Ingstorm

Ingstorm can be found in the latter half of the game, but only in Dark Aether. This odd creature will simply tear away at Samus' suit, degenerating energy faster than most other enemies. There is no way to defeat an Ingstorm. Minimal time spent in these storms is probably the best course of action to take.
Grenchlers are defeated with powerful shots to their backs, Shredders are easily-defeatable enemies that only need to take a few shots from the Power Beam, and Lumintoh Turrets, like most other defensive guns in the game, take a few missiles or Charge Beam shots.
