Hmm just 10 songs from the last 50 years... can I go back a wee bit further for one of mine? I think it's actually from the 1950s and can't find my Guinness Book to check. The Three Bells by The Browns Coma by Guns n Roses True Faith by New Order Behind Blue Eyes by The Who The Mad Lady and Me - the version by Christy Moore and Sinead O'Connor She's an Angel by Love/Hate When the Tigers Broke Free by Pink Floyd Fifty Years On by Harvey Andrews Joey by Concrete Blonde The Impossible Dream - by just about anyone with a nice voice, though I do like Rhydian's version, and Colm "thingy" from the stage show :-) If I could only ever listen to those 10 songs for the rest of my life, I'd be quite happy. Rowena, I've heard of two of the songs, and five of the performers, not counting Rhydian. I hope you're proud of me. :) Reply #43. Jan 25 11, 7:59 PM |

No posts here for a couple of weeks so I'll give it a gentle kick up the board. If these songs were movies they would fall into the 'epic' genre. All ten minutes or more in length as they appeared on the studio album they were first released on. I have deliberately left Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' off of this list as I have already mentioned it in a previous post. Desolation Row- Bob Dylan Shine On You Crazy Diamond- Pink Floyd Heard It Through The Grapevine- CCR Cowgirl In The Sand- Neil Young Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands- Bob Dylan ( also references the wonderful Cannery Row by Steinbeck) The End- The Doors Thick As A Brick- Jethro Tull Pigs (Three Different Ones)- Pink Floyd Rime Of The Ancient Mariner- Iron Maiden Station To Station- David Bowie Reply #58.
