Posted by: redwaldo
Date: Jan 10 11

Following the popular 60s thread,I've decided to post a thread on the best songs of the last half century.

These songs can be from any genre(rock, pop, folk, jazz)and can be singles, from albums etc.

Here's my Top Ten(1960-2010)

1) Hey Jude-The Beatles

2) Imagine-John Lennon

3)Satisfaction-The Rolling Stones

4)House of the Rising Sun-The Animals

5)Love Her Madly-The Doors

6)Revolution-The Beatles

7)The Jean Genie-David Bowie

8)Baba O'Riley-The Who

9)In My Life-The Beatles

10)Both Sides,Now-Joni Mitchell

This is a provisional list and may change;you can post as many lists as you want. After a couple of months I'll call for FINAL lists and I will compile the Top 50 songs for the past 50 years(points 10-1st;9-2nd etc.)

What are your top ten songs?

(Sorry that I took up so much space with the links, but I really like to have them, and especially from others. I learn so much that way...)

I make no apologies for posting links. I can go back to my lists and listen to all the songs, with minimum effort. I find minimum effort very appealing.

I wasn't apologizing for having posted links; I just wish I'd spaced them out more nearly compactly. I, too, like links--my own and those of others--for the "one-stop-shopping" aspect of it all.

(Lesley, you know my sun sign, and that I'm very big on organization and tidiness?)

Dagny, I like all your choices, as usual! I'm feeling guilty about having left Dolly Rebecca out, but...the die is cast.

Lockalsh, some of yours almost made my list too! There just isn't enough room, lol. The two that I hated to leave off the most were House of the Rising Sun and Norwegian Wood.

I agree with Redwaldo's list, except for #1- Hey Jude. I know that it's one of the most famous songs ever, but I don't think it's all that great.
