No problems Godwit. House of the Rising Sun was voted No. 1 song for the 60's in a popular thread on this site last year. Reply #62. Mar 06 11, 9:37 PM |

Rolling Stone magazine was accused of weighing their best songs list too heavily in the baby boomer era (60s and 70s). 'Course there was so much fantastic music in those years. But, I took a look at the infamous eminem. He's good. Powerful. Also growing up and learning. So he'll go on my 2nd Best Songs list. Strangely enough. A. Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven B. Don McLlean American Pie C. Beatles Yesterday D. Kansas Dust in the Wind E. Eminem I'm Not Afraid F. Eminem Love the Way You Lie G. Bruce Springsteen I'm on Fire H. Creedence Clearwater Revival Have You Ever Seen the Rain I. Doors Riders on the Storm J. Dolly Parton Jolene K. It's a Beautiful Day White Bird Reply #63. Mar 07 11, 6:56 PM |

I think Arethra Franklin goes in here too. For either "Respect" or "Chain of Fools", both 1967. She had a number one single in 1987, also. Reply #65. Mar 20 11, 10:49 PM |

You have a great list. The kind of list where you want to stop and sing, and listen to, every song. Except "Satisfaction". I loathe, despise and can't stand that song. I know, I know, the other half of the population loves it. Can't we put Arethra in there instead!? Or Elvis Costello. Or... Reply #66. Mar 20 11, 10:52 PM |

These aren't in order of any kind. My choices are songs that touched me at a particular time in my life. 1: Billy Joel - 'The Way You Are' 2: The Beatles - 'Eleanor Rigby' 3: Nina Simone - 'Sinner Man' 4: Lambert, Hendricks and Ross - 'Twisted' 5: Bob Dylan - 'Blowin' in the Wind' 6: Leonard Cohen - 'Hallelujah' (the k.d.lang version is sublime) 7: The Guess Who? - 'These Eyes' 8: Bryan Adams - 'Everything I Do' 9: Joni Mitchell - 'Both Sides Now' (the version she recorded later in life' 10: Anne Murray - 'You Needed Me' (I also like the version recorded by anne Murray and Shania Twain) Reply #71. I protest! There are more than ten great songs from the past 50 years. Maybe we should do lists of the ten best bluessongs, jazz, folk, etc. Reply #72. Mar 26 11, 9:59 AM |

Here's something a little different. Although I enjoy listening to many different genres and languages, my favourites tend to be Estonian originals or covers of songs that are well-known all over the world. These beautiful songs may move one to tears. Some are new, some have enchanted people's hearts for decades. I suggest to listen to them but be warned - they are addictive! - Siis, kui maailm magab veel (When The World’s Still Fast Asleep) – Hele Kõre, Kristjan Kasearu (a love song from the musical „Romeo and Juliet”) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKVcw9fw22E - Impossible Dream – Georg Ots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C3GL8UsDv8 - Mälestused (Memories) – Koit Toome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWcTt-eDuwU - Suveöö (Summer Night) – Jaak Joala http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CanuC6bLkAc - Tuulevaiksel ööl (On A Night When The Wind Is Still) – Liisi Koikson, Marko Matvere http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rxqK_7cYEg - Kui on meri hülgehall (When The Sea’s As Grey As A Seal) – from the film „Siin me oleme” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izmwlk8PLr0 - Imeline aas (The Enchanted Meadow) – Tarmo Urb, Toomas Urb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXI9vIg7FEg - Taas punab pihlapuu (The Rowan Is Red Again) – Ivo Linna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km9w0BcbX4A - Suudlus läbi jäätunud klaasi (A Kiss Through The Frosted Windowglass) – Ruja http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JBl6icvoBw - Sind otsides (Looking For You) – Tõnis Mägi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGjKGVCwEnk Reply #74. Lesley153: yes I like it a lot when people add links. You can leap over and enjoy what they enjoy. I have listened to everything linked here and what a great collection of songs. I would have liked to inundate everyone with links of my favorites but I don't know how to add links. Yah. I know. I read ehow and it makes no sense to me. I bet a 5th grader can do it but I cannot. This is on the Fun Trivia News page. I'll try it: To add a link for your reference, highlight the URL in your browser. Right-click on your mouse and choose "Copy." Left-click in the FunTrivia answer box, then right-click your mouse again and choose "Paste." The link will show automatically after you submit your answer, but it must begin with "http" and it must be separated from any other text or punctuation by a space. http://www.funtrivia.com/bb.cfm?action=addreplyform&qnid=25733&boardid=8 Reply #76. Godwit, it's about time. :) (You can shorten your link if you think it's too long. Copy it, then go to tinyurl.com and follow the instructions there. It makes for a neater ost, and neatness is paramount! :) ) ___________________________________ redwaldo, are you going to be calling for final, final, final lists soon?
