Volkswagon . She loves her little car.
Twice. Yep, she has two ex-husbands.
Her aunt. She was raised by her aunt. She always thought that she had no other relatives. However she does have some cousins.
Have a letter in the title. All her books start with a letter and they go in order. A is the first book, B is the second, etc. Janet Evanovich novels have a number in the titles.

California Fidelity. As described in Chapter 1, Kinsey at one time worked for California Fidelity Insurance Company, but at this point they have a "loose relationship." "I do a certain number of investigations for them in exchange for two rooms with a separate entrance and small balcony..."
Laurence Fife. Nikki Fife hired Kinsey to find out who really killed her husband; she had been inaccurately tried and convicted of the murder, and spent eight years in jail for it. As she said, "By the time Laurence died, I didn't give a damn about him."
Santa Teresa. "Often it is sixty-seven degrees and fair. The nights are consistenty cool. Seasonally it does rain but the rest of the time, one day looks very much like the next and the constant, cloudless blue sky has a peculiar, disorienting effect..."

Laurence's partner. Charlie Scorsoni is introduced in Chapter 4. By the end of the book, we all figure out that he is the real murderer!
Dog Groomer. Laurence's first wife, Gwen, opened her own business - a dog groomer. I love Kinsey's issues with dogs throughout this series!! One of my favorite insights into her personality is when she describes her feelings about canines: "Dogs and I do not get along. The inevitably stick their snouts right in my crotch, sometimes clamping themselves around my leg as thought to do some kind of two-legged dance."

Santa Teresa policewoman. "I must have had vague, idealistic notions of law and order, the good guys versus the bad, with occasional court appearance in which I'd be asked to testify as to which was which. In my view, the bad guys would go to jail, thus making is safe for the rest of us to carry on. After a while, I realized how naive I was..."

I fully intend to have the estate reimburse me out of Elaine's share since she caused all this trouble to begin with ... "
Elaine never came that year. Mr. Makowski quickly tells Kinsey that Elaine just didn't show up. Instead, a friend of Elaine's was subletting the condo. Of course, subletting is not allowed, according to the condominium bylaws ... the plot thickens ... !!!
a $12,000 fur coat. According to Tillie, "... Marty used to get a little snippy about Elaine's attitude ... that fur coat of hers is case in point. She knew Leonard and Marty were in financial straits, but she'd wear the coat over there to play bridge." When she was last seen, Elaine was wearing that fur coat, with its matching turban.
