    Joe Gordon. In 1969 the Royals began as an expansion franchise with Joe "Flash" Gordon as manager. Gordon only lasted one year after posting a 69-93 record in 1969. He was followed by Metro (19-33) who only managed 52 games in 1970, Lemon (207-218) from 1970-72, then McKeon (215-205) from 1973-75.

Who was the first Philadelphia Phillies player to hit four home runs in a single game?
    Ed Delahanty. Ed "Big Ed" Delahanty hit four inside the park home runs against the Chicago Cubs at West Side Park in 1896. Klein hit four home runs at Forbes Field against the Pirates in 1936, and Schmidt hit four home runs against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in 1976. Allen never hit four homers in a single game for the Phillies.

The current Chicago White Sox were originally founded in 1893 as a minor league team in the old Western League. What was the first city and team name for the White Sox?
    Sioux City Cornhuskers. The Sox began as the Sioux City Cornhuskers and played there from 1983-94. The team moved briefly to St. Paul (1895-99) before moving to Chicago in 1900 to become part of the new American League.

    Paul Hines. Hines, an outfielder for the 1878 Providence Grays, batted .358 with 4 home runs and 50 RBIs to win baseball's first triple crown. The others all won triple crowns after Hines: O'Neill (1887); Duffy (1894); and Lajoie (1901).

In 1911 the first National League MVP award was awarded to which player?
    Frank Schulte. Schulte, an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, batted .300 with 21 home runs and 107 RBI's to win the NL MVP award. The others all finished below Schulte in voting for the 1911 NL MVP award.

    Luke Appling. Appling played for the Chicago White Sox from 1930-50, all years in which the Sox never made it to the World Series. Banks and Carew had 19 seasons with no World Series appearances while Torre had 18.

    Brooklyn Robins. Lead by Hall of Fames outfielder Tris Speaker, the 1920 Indians won 98 games during the regular season before defeating the Brooklyn Robins 5 games to 2 in the World Series.

Who was the first player to hit 20 career post-season home runs?
    Bernie Williams. Williams reached the 20 home run milestone in 2004. Ramirez hit his 20th home run in 2005. Retired players Jackson and Mantle both have 18 career post season homers.

During baseball's modern era (1903-present), which team was the first to win over 110 games in a single season?
    1906 Chicago Cubs. The 1906 Cubs won 116 games becoming the first team to win over 110 games but lost in the World Series 4 games to 2 to the White Sox, winners if 93 games in 1906.
