    Reg Gasnier. Whilst all of these players are all time greats - Reg was perhaps the greatest of them all. Langlands, Raper and Gasnier have all been made named Rugby League immortals - a title that only a handful can claim (and they all played in the same side).

    Illawarra & Illawarra Steelers & Steelers. The merger was more like a takeover, with St George the dominant party. The newly merged entity made the Grand Final in their first year and led with just 5 minutes to go before going down 20-18 to Melbourne Storm.

    4. They lost in 1992 and 1993 to the Brisbane Broncos, in 1996 to Manly-Warringah and in 1999 to Melbourne Storm.

    Steve Linnane. Linnane went from competition leading try scoring in his first year to a 12 month suspension just 2 years later - he never really made it back.

    Craig Young. Brian Johnston captained St George in the 1993 Grand Final - his last game before retirement. Brian Johnson was the St George Reserve Grade captain in 1985 and they won the premiership. Graham Wynn was a log.

Who did St George defeat in the 1977 Grand Final?
    Parramatta & Eels & Parramatta Eels. The first ever tied Grand Final (9 all at full time). St George won the replay keeping the Eels scoreless. Coincidentally the Grand Final was tied again the following year and in the replay Manly kept Cronulla scoreless.

True or False: Phil Blake played in a Grand Final for St George?
    True. Blake played in the 1992 and 1993 Grand Finals for St George (one of the 6 clubs he played for). The Dragons had much success with the mousetrap play developed specifically for Blake.

Who was the St George captain in 2002?
    Trent Barrett. Smith was St George captain in 2001. Thompson captained the Dragons in Barrett's and Smith's absence.
