Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Not to be confused with a bird chirping.

Answer: Twitter

If you've heard someone say that they just 'tweeted' something it doesn't mean they were chirping like a bird. It means that they made a small statement or comment on the social networking board called "Twitter".

Twitter came about in 2006. The site was created by four men, Dorsey, Glass, Stone and Williams. I don't think the four men knew just how popular it would become just 15 years later.

The nice thing about Twitter is the short posts! It started at just 140 characters and was upgraded to 280 characters.
2. Not to be confused with your picture on a novel.

Answer: Facebook

In a little town in Massachusetts, Mark Zuckerberg thought of Facebook and it became a reality in 2004. He wasn't alone in this creation, he worked with Saverin, McCollum, Moskovitz and Hughes. What started off as a small venture increased over the years and can now be purchased on the stock exchange.

You can post on your 'wall' with pictures, comments and even videos. Facebook has helped create thousands of jobs. It has expanded to over 130 countries with over 100 million people using the application.
3. Not to be confused with your area.

Answer: MySpace

The first friend you had on MySpace was Tom! Everyone had Tom as a friend. He was one of the founders of MySpace in 2003. It actually was fun to create a page on MySpace. You would enter your info and pictures and different things on a few pages. You could even play your favorite songs on there. The site was extremely popular for about 3 years and then Facebook took over the social networking and MySpace sort of went into 'space' so to speak.

If you're interested, MySpace.com is still up and running. If you're bored with the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and other social media, check out the old timer's page!
4. Not to be confused with meat in a can.

Answer: Spam

Hormel Foods had no idea that SPAM would be such a bad thing in the internet world, when they created it. What does SPAM stand for? Shoulder of Pork and Ham. Now, the other kind of SPAM is text and emails that are junk! Something you haven't asked for and announcing that you've won millions of dollars. Just send us your name, banking information and we will be happy to send you a million dollars.

This is JUNK! Don't click those emails that make crazy promises of riches! I could go just a bit further and mention "Spamalot" the musical by Eric Idle from the "Monty Python" days.
5. Not to be confused with a diet drink from the 1960s.

Answer: Tab

Coca-Cola introduced Tab in 1963. It was a popular diet drink until 2020, when it was finally discontinued. I was really unsure why they would have a second diet drink other than Diet Coke in 1982, but it stayed on the market for close to 20 years more.

The computer TAB key is the jump to the next cursor when you're filling out forms online. It makes it easy to press the TAB button instead of using the mouse. Now, there's another confusion. The squeaky mouse and the mouse on your computer. I feel a part two coming up!
6. Not to be confused with the future on things in your life.

Answer: Outlook

I like to see the outlook of my life. I like to plan things and look forward to seeing new things and making lists to go places. My outlook in life is good, really good!

Now Microsoft created an email program called Outlook. It's a free place to send and receive emails online. You can log in from anywhere, pretty much! There are many options to choose from to get emails. Gmail from Google, Yahoo mail and Outlook has Hotmail.
7. Not to be confused with the ones you go on to see animals in a big jeep.

Answer: Safari

You can go on a safari and visit lots of animals in Africa or even at Disney World in Animal Kingdom, but if you want to browse the internet you can use the search engine, Safari, also. The search engine was introduced to us by Apple, another internet term that may be used in the future. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you'll probably be using Safari to play this quiz.

Other forms of search engines include Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome.
8. Not to be confused with the game show with Allan Ludden.

Answer: Password

Two contestants would attempt to discover the "password" from their partner in this game show from the 1960s. Allan Ludden was the host from 1961 to 1975. His spouse, Betty White, was an occasional celebrity partner on the show to help contestants win points and money.

The other type of password is a secret word, symbol and numbers that help secure a website. Your password is something that you should never ever give out. The only person that should know it is your parent, if you're underage. If you google the 10 most common passwords you will notice that the numbers 12345678 is in the top 10. Try to be creative with your passwords, using lettters, numbers and symbols. Also, make sure that you change them often to try to keep things safer!
9. Not to be confused with a spider creation.

Answer: Web

If you've seen the movie "Charlotte's Web" you'll recall that Charlotte would write things in her web to help save Wilbur, the pig, from being slaughtered one day.

The web, also known as WWW or World Wide Web, was first mentioned by Tim Berners-Lee back in the '80s. He was actually knighted by the Queen in 2004.

I honestly don't know all the 'web' lingo, but I do know that they have helped my life so much by giving me the ways to search and find all sorts of things online!
10. Not to be confused with a breakfast food and a game in which you say, "You're it!"

Answer: Hashtag

Hash is a mixture of meat and potatoes, cut up really fine and cooked for breakfast. The game of "tag" is chasing someone around until you touch them, before they touch the free pole!

A hashtag is a symbol for tagging someone, or a comment or even a place. You can hashtag or # a picture with #waterfalls or #tampaFlorida. You can hashtag an event like #NBABulls or any place. Mostly people use hashtags for Instagram or Twitter, but I have seen them use it on Facebook also. If you wanted to see all the pictures for The Narrows hike in Zion NP, you could use #zionnationalpark and you'll see everyone that posted their pictures with that hashtag attached to it. Sometimes when you're tagging a picture you'll notice that 1 million other people also have used the same tag.
