Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the wedding planning business formed by Mackensie, Parker, Laurel and Emma?

Answer: Vows

The story opens up to four young girls playing "wedding day". Told from Mac's point of view mostly, "Visions in White" explains that the girls played at getting married a lot. They married each other, animals, and even Parker's brother Delaney. It is on one pivotal wedding day that Mackensie realizes she wants to be a photographer, which is her portion of Vows. Parker Brown is their director of operations, her brother Delaney is their attorney, Emmaline Grant is the company florist and Laurel McBane is the chef.
2. Why is Carter at Vows on the day he sees Mackensie Elliot again after so many years?

Answer: his sister has a meeting with Vows' staff

Carter's sister Sherry is marrying a doctor, and the doctor is unable to attend a planning meeting. So, Sherry coerces Carter to join her because she feels she needs some sort of male opinion. He accidentally sees Mackensie without her shirt on, hits his head rather hard and requires a little TLC to help him recover. Mackensie is sans shirt because a bird has flown into her window and startled her.

She spills on herself and is in the process of rectifying it when Carter sees her. Carter had a mad crush on Mac in high-school.
3. What is Carter Maguire's profession?

Answer: English professor

Carter is a professor in the same high-school he and Mackensie attended together. Mackensie does not attend there too long, but he is crazy about her all the while. Though they find each other wildly attractive, each of them see themselves as a bit awkward and geeky. Mac's insecurities are less pronounced than Carter's, but he has just experienced an emotional blow.
4. Which of the people in Mac's life is a manipulative energy sucker?

Answer: her mother Linda

Mac has no cousin Dale or ex named Kroft. Her mother Linda, however, is an emotional parasite who continually causes Mac to feel obligated to help her. Linda is always in some sort of personal crisis; calling on her daughter when she needs money to ease the pain.
5. After a couple of dates, Carter decides to cook dinner for Mac.

Answer: True

With encouragement and help from his friend and colleague Bob Taskins, Carter cooks a chicken dinner for Mac. She is moved by his effort and realizes that she is absolutely being romanced. Though she hasn't intended to get too serious with Carter, she realizes she likes the idea of being romanced by him. That night is the first time they make love, after which Mac leaves in a panicked frenzy.
6. What does Mac believe about herself, and express to Carter, in regards to love?

Answer: she is not the long haul girl

After they make love for the first time, Mac races out of Carter's home as fast as she can. She knows she feels deeply for him, and he for her, but she does not believe love can last. She later tells both her girlfriends, and then Carter, that she is not the long haul girl.

She says she simply does not believe in everlasting love. She tells Carter just after he first meets her mother, who spends the moment degrading Mac in front of him. He tells her she is afraid, needs to stand up to her mother, and needs to stop blaming her mother for own emotional shortcomings.
7. After Carter meets Linda, Mac's mom, which of Mac's pals goes to him to explain why Mac is unsure about love?

Answer: Parker

Parker holds steadfast to the girl code, so she would not ordinarily go behind Mac's back to the man she is dating. But, after they had their first fight (about Linda's treatment of Mac), Parker knows she had to intervene! So, she meets Carter at the local coffee shop to explain about Mac's lifelong lack of stability from her parents.

He is genuinely in-tuned to Mac, and tells Parker that he had assumed some of it already. He assures Parker he won't give up on Mac too easily.
8. After Mac meets Carter's ex, Corrine, the woman decides to try and steal Carter away from her.

Answer: True

Mac has already met Stephanie, Corrine's gal pal. She ran into Steph at a wedding Vows planned for her cousin. Then, she runs into Steph and Corrine at Nordstrom's. She has decided new shoes will be nice comfort food in her post-Carter fight depression. Steph is mildly rude to her in front of Corrine, while Corrine herself displays a general dismissive attitude.

After Mac is out of hearing range, Corrine tells Steph she thinks she needs to steal Carter back! Corrine had dumped Carter unceremoniously for another man, and that had since run its course. Corrine arrives at Carter's place, which takes him off guard, and then Mac drops by scant moments later to apologize for their fight! Later, after she talks it over with the girls, they all realize Corrine has played Mac!
9. Was is the name of the man that Mac's mother, Linda, decides to marry?

Answer: Ari

Ari is a successful business man, in the vein of a Donald Trump. Linda has been married three times already. After the proposal, Linda races over to Vows to book her June wedding. Fortunately for Mac, June had been totally booked up for almost a year.

She tries to explains this calmly to Linda, who expresses shock and outrage that a client would not be "bumped or shifted" for a family member's impromptu wedding. She plays victim and then runs to Parker, the "boss" of the business. Parker sets Linda straight and tells the woman she is no longer welcome on the property unless Mac wants it.
10. Mac and Carter became engaged at the end of the story.

Answer: True

For awhile, Mac is not sure if she can commit that fully to Carter. He tells her, more than once, that he is going to wait and give her time. He swears he will not ask her to marry him until she says that is what she wants. So, at the end of the story, Mac rushes over to see him in bad weather.

She discovers, almost in an instant, that his love, and marriage, is exactly everything she wants. So, she tells him she wants to be asked, and so he proposes. She accepts immediately.
