Answer: Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses became worldwide hits as soon as their first album "Appetite For Destruction" was released in 1987. Admired by rock fans across the globe the album featured the rock classics, "Sweet Child O Mine", "Welcome To The Jungle" and "Paradise City".

Their members came and went over the years with Axl Rose as the only permanent member. In 2016 he was rejoined by guitarist Slash and bass player Duff McKagan which reproduced most of the classic 1997 lineup.

Answer: David Bowie

David fought Goliath in The Bible and Jim Bowie was famous for both his knife and the Battle Of The Alamo in 1836. Indeed it was as a tribute to Jim Bowie that David Jones of South London UK adopted the name aged 18 in 1965. This also ensured that Bowie was never confused with Davy Jones of The Monkees. Bowie died after a battle with cancer in 2016.
3. Here's a rock band where the question might be does the "Dorset Naga" top the lot?

Answer: Red Hot Chili Peppers

In 2006 when the Dorset Naga pepper was sent from The UK to The USA for testing it registered 876,000 Scoville units. The previous holder of the record for hottest chili in the world was 577,000. Apparently the testers thought they'd made a mistake! Meanwhile The Red Hot Chili Peppers, formed in 1983, had become one of the few acts to be recognised merely by their initials (RHCP).

Their brand of "Funk Rock" saw them become one of the best selling bands of all time and nominated for many Grammy Awards.

After more than 30 years together they were still able to boast original singer Anthony Kiedes and bass player Flea in their lineup.

Answer: King Crimson

King Crimson were a British Progressive Rock band originally formed in 1968. They went through multiple break ups and reformations with the only constant member being Robert Fripp. Their best known recording was their debut studio album 1969s "In The Court Of The Crimson King".

Answer: Judas Priest

Formed in 1969 and rated as one of the greatest Heavy Metal bands of all time. Judas Priest, strangely for a metal band adopted their name from a Bob Dylan song, "The Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest". In the first 40 years of their non stop career they could boast an album tally of 16, including the classic "British Steel".
6. Might this act be considered to be Rumpleteazer's best friend?

Answer: Mungo Jerry

The name Mungo Jerry was inspired by the poem "Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie" characters from T.S. Eliot's 1939 "Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats". Formed in 1969 in England by Ray Dorset they enjoyed huge chart and live success and were particularly identified with their monster international hit "In The Summertime".

After more than 45 years Ray Dorset, who was often thought to be Mungo Jerry himself, was still active.

Answer: Slipknot

A bowline is a knot which makes a loop that won't slip. Slipknot, the band are famous for appearing onstage in masks and jumpsuits. Their ofttimes violent lyrics were cited as to blame for violent crimes, which of course horrified the band. They originated from Des Moines in The USA and date back to 1995.

Northern Ireland's The Answer are a hard rock/blues band formed by guitarist Paul Mahon in 2000. In 2005 they were awarded "Classic Rock Magazine" (UK) "Best New Band 2005" accolade which bought them to the attention of the public. Further exposure came when they toured as support to AC/DC, Paul Rodgers and Aerosmith.

Their song "Never Too Late" is featured on the "Guitar Hero World Tour" game.

Answer: Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy were formed in Dublin, Ireland by the charismatic Philip Lynott and achieved international fame thanks to his writing and a distinctive twin lead guitar sound. Hits such as "The Boys Are Back In Town" and "Dancing In The Moonlight" ensured their enduring fame. Lynott died in 1986 but Thin Lizzy continued on and off with a changing lineup until they decided to write fresh tunes and in 2012 they morphed into The Black Star Riders.

Answer: Genesis

The best selling book in the world? The Bible, and the first book of the Bible is Genesis. The band were formed in England in 1967. When original frontman Peter Gabriel left the band in 1975 he wasn't replaced, his singing duties were merely passed to drummer Phil Collins. Lead guitarist Steve Hackett left the band in 1977 and to quote the title of their next and ninth studio album "And Then There Were Three", Collins, Mike Rutherford, rhythm guitar and bass and Tony Banks on keyboards.
