Answer: New York Giants

The Giants made the move from New York in 1958. They brought with them their roster of Orlando Cepeda, Jim Davenport, Willie Mays, and Felipe Alou.
2. What was Pete Rose's highest batting average in a season?

Answer: .348

Rose retired with a career average of .303. In 1969 with the Cincinnati Reds, he batted .348 with 218 hits, in one of his better years. He played mostly for the Reds and the Phillies throughout his 24 seasons of baseball.
3. Which of the DiMaggio brothers was the oldest?

Answer: Vince

Vince was born on September 6, 1912. Joe was born on November 25, 1914. Both Vince and Joe were born in Martinez, California. Dom, who was the youngest, was born on February 12, 1917, in San Francisco. Dom played for 11 seasons, all with the Red Sox, and missed 3 seasons due to World War II. Jacob is not a part of the DiMaggio family.
4. What player once set a record for hitting 64 doubles in a season, in 1926?

Answer: George Burns

It was George Burns who broke Tris Speaker's record of 59 in 1923, by smacking 64 of his own in 1926. This was Burns' best season with the Indians, batting .358 and having 215 hits. Burns played 16 seasons in the Big Leagues.
5. Mike Schmidt played for which Major League team?

Answer: Philadelphia Phillies

Mike spent his entire career with the Phillies from 1972 to 1989. Known both for his power and his glove, he hit 548 home runs, and was awarded the Gold Glove 10 times in his career. Schmidt also won the National League MVP three times.
6. Who managed the 1995 World Series Champions, Atlanta Braves?

Answer: Bobby Cox

Cox joined the ballclub midseason in 1990. His first full season in 1991, he took Atlanta to the World Series, but lost to the Minnesota Twins 4 games to 3. 1992 was another trip to the World Series, but this time they lost to the Blue Jays 4 games to 2. But, in 1995 the Braves would have their way this time, by beating the Indians 4 games to 2.

At the end of the century, Cox was still leading the Braves, with a strong future and contract in sight.
7. What player went from a 17-16 record in 1967, to a 31-6 record, and an amazing 280 strikeouts in 1968?

Answer: Denny McLain

At age 24 with the Tigers, he smoked just about every team that he came in contact with. Denny's efforts won him the American League Cy Young, and the American League MVP Award. In 1969 his record 'dropped' to 24-9. The other pitchers listed, had already retired.
8. Who hit the most home runs in 2002?

Answer: Alex Rodriguez

A-Rod led the Majors with 57 in his Ranger uniform. Bonds hit 46 with the Giants, Troy hit 30 with the World Series Champion Angels, and Thome hit 52 with the Indians.

Answer: Nobody did it

Carlos Beltran hit 29 in 2002 to lead the club. Both Ibanez and Sweeney hit 24, and Ordaz did not hit any.

Lawrence Peter Berra was his born name in St.Louis, Missouri, and he was later given the nickname of Yogi. He joined the Yankees in 1946, and played in the pinstripes until he retired in 1965. For a 5'8" catcher, he had the power to hit 358 career home runs.
