Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What color is the background when you play "Solitaire"?

Answer: Green

All of the card games included in the Windows package come with a green background. This makes sense as most card tables have green felt, giving you that Vegas feel while playing.
2. This version of "Solitaire" is scored. How many points do you get for putting a card into one of the top foundation stacks (those are the stacks at the top where you start with an Ace and go up to King)?

Answer: 10

The scoring system was added to give players a real challenge and to motivate you to do better. Watch out, the game is timed and if you start taking too long, you actually start having points deducted from your score!
3. When you win a "Solitaire" game by putting all the cards in the foundation stacks, what kind of animation happens?

Answer: All the cards start bouncing around

With this being a very small and basic game included in your Windows package, it may not be a graphically impressive display. Still, it's a very neat animation to honor your hard won victory!
4. Onto "Spider Solitaire". How many stacks are dealt out when the game starts?

Answer: Ten

"Spider Solitaire" is a very neat alternative to your traditional solitaire. "Spider Solitaire" is named this because of the cards going back and forth rapidly between the stacks almost being like a web.
5. In the Normal mode of "Spider Solitaire", you only play with two suits. Which two suits do you play?

Answer: Hearts and spades

In easy mode, you only play with spades and in hard mode you play with all four suits. Adding another suit makes the game harder, but it's definitely still a fun challenge.
6. When you win "Spider Solitaire", what animation happens?

Answer: Fireworks

Again, with this being a small basic game for standard Windows packages, the animation is not going to be graphically impressive. Nevertheless, it is still another fun animation to honor a hard won victory!
7. Onto "Minesweeper"! Can you be defeated on the very first square you pick?

Answer: No

The game decides where the mines will be after you pick your first square, and you will never lose on the very first square. After that, all bets are off!
8. When you pick the Intermediate Level on "Minesweeper", how many mines are there?

Answer: 40

Easy level on "Minesweeper" only has 10 mines and expert level has 99 mines! Intermediate level is a nice challenge without seeming too daunting.
9. When you pick a square with a number in "Minesweeper", each number is a different color. What color is the number "1"?

Answer: Blue

The color coding gives you a quick and easy way to survey where you are at in the game. Searching around a bunch of "1"s is an easy way to clear a lot of squares without having too much risk of losing.
10. If you win a game of "Minesweeper" with a record time for the first time, you can put your name in. However, when the name entry screen comes up, a name is already there that you have to erase. What name is in the box?

Answer: Anonymous

You can post your name if you complete the game in less than 999 seconds. This applies to all three levels (Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert). To complete the game with 10 mines in less than 999 seconds is definitely a lot easier than completing 99 mines in the same amount of time!
