Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Every character starts with one unique item in their inventory. What unique item do Thieves get?

Answer: Magic grapnel

The magic grapnel is thrown at far-away ledges or objects and can "dislodge" itself on command, making it an excellent tool for thieving work. Its primary use is for making rope-bridges you can walk across. It's unfortunate that there isn't much thieving to do in "Quest for Glory 3", but the magic grapnel does see its fair share of use.

Also remember that the grapnel is pretty much useless until such time that you can find some rope to attach to it.
2. Which of these attributes is completely useless to the thief?

Answer: Honor

Attributes like Vitality are pretty important for everyone: they determine your hit points and Stamina (and hence, survivability). Magic is always helpful, if you spend the "character points" to purchase it. Throwing is a very important skill for thieves, as they do much of their combat by throwing daggers at the enemy.

Honor of course is absolutely useless - it is only important for Paladins. C'mon, your job, as a thief, is to break into houses and rob people! If you manage to do some good deeds along the way, that's fine, but your honor attribute is completely irrelevant to anything you do.
3. Where is the Thieves' Guild hidden?

Answer: There is no Thieves' Guild

Unfortunately, there is no Thieves' Guild anywhere in Tarna at all. This is the only game in the series which does not feature a guild or even a guild representative. Thieves' Guilds are mainly useful for fencing stolen items, and quite frankly there is practically nothing to steal in this entire game which isn't explicitly useful.
4. How many thieves are there in the land of Tarna (except you, of course)?

Answer: One

You'll meet the thief in the early portion of the game. In fact, he'll be caught and punished. Thievery in Tarna (as any other crime) is punished by being declared "honorless", which is somewhat like being excommunicated. No one is allowed to speak with you, let alone sell you anything, and if you can't leave the city you'll probably starve to death or go insane with loneliness.

It's a good thing there's nothing to steal in the city anyway!
5. Which character will teach you acrobatics?

Answer: The rope merchant

The rope merchant works at the Bazaar in Tarna, and is hard to miss. You will need to identify yourself as a thief if you wish him to discuss this subject. This training will boost your Agility score by 30 points. Agility is one of the thief's most important attributes.
6. How many "break-ins" can you perform in "Quest for Glory 3"?

Answer: Two

Compared to other "Quest for Glory" games, this (third) installment is relatively poor in terms of the unique puzzles for thieves. Thieves usually avoid combat or other aggressive situations, and in turn they must face more puzzles and obstacles, but in "Quest for Glory 3" pretty much all characters will have one or two unique "trials" and nothing more.

This makes the thief character perhaps the least interesting character to play in "Quest for Glory 3", but fortunately this is the only game in the series in which that happens.
7. How do you enter the hut of the Simbani Laibon (the chief)?

Answer: Through the wall

You must enter the Laibon's hut to steal the Spear of Death, an item belonging to the dangerous Leopardmen. You'll do at night, by slashing through the leather wall of the hut. Strangely enough, the Laibon is sleeping right next to the wall, and you'll step over him as you enter! Just make sure your Stealth skill is high by this point, or you'll wake him up.
8. Which two kinds of animals guard the Leopardman Chieftain's hut?

Answer: Panther & monkey

You'll need a different kind of food to appease each animal. You can get past the panther without feeding it, but that would require a lot of skill. Getting past the monkey without giving it some food is pretty much impossible - he'll wake up the sleeping chieftain for sure.
9. During the finale sequence in the evil tower, which is the only item you need to use?

Answer: Rope & Grapnel

In fact, the thief's finale is probably the least interesting of all three endings, as all you need to do is use your grapnel, several times. The difficulty comes from requiring high skills - if you don't have enough skill, you'll fall off the rope and die.
10. How many times do you need to use the grapnel during the game?

Answer: Seven

Again, the thief's campaign is rather unimaginative this time around, and may seem a little repetitive. The grapnel comes in handy exactly seven times, especially for crossing over chasms of all kinds, but not limited to that.
