Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction', we discovered Fastoon was the home planet of the Lombaxes. But in the original 'Ratchet & Clank', what was Ratchet's home planet?

Answer: Veldin

Ratchet lived a life of solitude on Veldin, working on his own spaceship so that one day he might fly amongst the stars. After a malfunction at the robot factory on Quartu, an unusual robot, named XJ-0461, later nicknamed Clank, was created, and he subsequently escaped from the planet thanks to a nearby spaceship, but crash landed on Veldin after being shot down. Ratchet retrieved the robot from the wreckage and the pair formed an instant friendship.

Clank was able to help Ratchet complete his ship, and the pair briefly set off into space before crash landing on Novalis, where their mission to put a stop to Chairman Drek's wicked plan began.

In 'Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked & Loaded', Clank was given an apartment in Megapolis, on Endako, but he was kidnapped by a mysterious masked thief, and Ratchet went in to rescue him. After their adventure was over, and the Protopet threat was gone, the pair chose Clank's apartment as their new home.

In 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction', the pair made their home in Metropolis, on Kerwan, having previously visited the planet in 'Ratchet & Clank' and 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal'. When the threat of Emperor Percival Tachyon and the Cragmites arrived, both Ratchet and Clank ventured through the skies and streets of Metropolis to find Tachyon, while the city crumbled around them.
2. In 'Ratchet & Clank', the duo were propositioned by a shady smuggler, who offered them a powerful super-weapon in exchange for a hefty sum of bolts. What was this weapon?

Answer: R.Y.N.O.

Early in their adventure, Ratchet and Clank met the smuggler in Blackwater City, on planet Rilgar, as they searched the city for Captain Qwark. For 150,000 bolts, the duo could wield the RYNO ("Rip Ya a New One"), a weapon created by Gadgetron that was "simply deemed too dangerous for civilian use". When used, the RYNO shot out seven missiles, which homed in on anyone unfortunate enough to be in range.

Ratchet and Clank later took possession of the RYNO II in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded', the RY3NO in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal', the RYNO IV in 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction', the RYNO V in 'Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time', and the RYNO VI, a destructive proto-suit, in 'Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One'.
3. To help the duo through their perilous journey, Clank was outfitted with several upgrades, thanks to the handiwork of three experts in robotics. Which of these upgrades, though, was not given to Clank in 'Ratchet & Clank'?

Answer: Geo-Laser

The Heli-Pack was given to Clank by Big Al at his roboshack in Metropolis, in exchange for 1,000 bolts. This gave Clank propellers and the ability to let Ratchet to glide, jump higher than usual, and jump further than usual.

Al's brother, Bob, upgraded Clank with the Thruster-Pack on Pokitaru, allowing Ratchet to jump and glide faster, and to hover-strafe. This set the duo back 2,000 bolts.

Edwina, sister to both Al and Bob, gave the duo the ability to swim faster and for an infinite amount of time by fitting Clank with the Hydro-Pack on Hoven for 2,000 bolts.

The Geo-Laser was fitted to Clank by the mysterious Zoni at the Apogee Space Station in 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction'. This allowed Clank to find penetrable walls and blast through them with a high-density laser.
4. After mastering the various Gadgetron weapons available in the Solana Galaxy, Ratchet and Clank found themselves purchasing weapons and ammunition from which supplier in the Bogon Galaxy in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded'?

Answer: MegaCorp

Gadgetron struggled to gain a significant share of the weapons market in the Bogon Galaxy, due to MegaCorp's size and monopolistic influence, and thus ceased operations in that galaxy, remaining as the supplier of choice in the Solana Galaxy.

When Ratchet and Clank were captured and forced to participate in the DreadZone games in 'Ratchet: Gladiator', the weapons supplier of choice was Pox Industries, headed by none other than Gleeman Vox, the man responsible for DreadZone.

In 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction' and 'Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time', Ratchet and Clank found themselves purchasing weapons, gadgets, armour and ammunition from GrummelNet, a company whose sphere of influence encompassed the Polaris Galaxy. The duo quickly gained a reputation in the company as one of two of their favourite customers.

When Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious were forced to cooperate on Magnus in 'Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One', weapons and ammunition were provided by Apogee Communication Pods (sent down to the planet by Cronk and Zephyr), which in turn were linked to GrummelNet, as Magnus was in the Polaris Galaxy.
5. Ratchet and Clank took to arena combat like a duck to water in their efforts to carry out Abercrombie Fizzwidget's task. Where did the duo first sample the delights of arena combat in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded'?

Answer: Maktar Resort, Maktar Nebula

As they fought to take out operatives from the hireable mercenaries Thugs-4-Less at Maktar Resort, Ratchet and Clank found themselves entertaining the masses in Galactic Gladiators, an arena combat competition. After surviving wave upon wave of foes, the pair emerged victorious and in possession of the Electrolyzer, a device capable of restoring electrical circuits.

Later in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded', the duo took part in the MegaCorp Games on Joba, which covered both arena combat and deadly hoverbike races.

In 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal', the Solana Galaxy's answer to Galactic Gladiators was Annihilation Nation, offering dangerous gauntlets and more arena combat.

The Imperial Fight Festival also had its own form of arena combat in 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction', though it was slightly biased against contestants since it was run by Emperor Percival Tachyon.
6. Ratchet and Clank's penchant for powerful weapons was once again answered in the Bogon Galaxy. If they could scrape together 1,500,000 bolts, the pair could receive which super-weapon in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded'?

Answer: Zodiac

Available on Barlow, the Zodiac sent out huge bolts of electricity, igniting anything in its path. On the downside, the Zodiac had a small range, wasn't particularly effective against larger foes, and had four ammunition slots, with each piece of ammunition costing 10,000 bolts.

Giant Clank was not a super-weapon, per se, but was in fact Clank transformed into an ultra mech. This happened in 'Ratchet & Clank' on Quartu, in 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded' on moons orbiting Dobbo and Damosel, and in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal' at Holostar Studios whilst filming an episode of "Secret Agent Clank".

The Harbinger was a super-weapon available for purchase from Pox Industries during Ratchet's incarceration at the DreadZone games in 'Ratchet: Gladiator'. It was capable of sending down a hail of missiles, which wiped out any nearby enemies.

The Alpha Disruptor was a Lombax invention, crafted by scientists from the Centre for Advanced Lombax Research. Ratchet and Clank found it on Sargasso in 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction' during their exploration of the planet.
7. Ratchet and Clank returned to the Solana Galaxy once again to remove the threat of the Tyhrranoids and Dr. Nefarious in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal'. What malevolent device, created by Nefarious, did the heroic duo set out to destroy?

Answer: Biobliterator

In Dr. Nefarious' plan to convert every "squishy" organism in the galaxy into robots, he created the Biobliterator, which served that very purpose. Ratchet and Clank destroyed the Biobliterator on Koros, only to find out that Nefarious had created a second, more powerful one on Mylon, and the pair brought it down with a hovership and the help of Captain Qwark.

The Dreadnought was one of Chairman Drek's battleships in his fleet, and Ratchet and Clank infiltrated it in 'Ratchet & Clank', using the Hologuise to disguise the pair as a robot and fool the robot sentries.

During their time at DreadZone in 'Ratchet: Gladiator', Ratchet and Clank were sent to the Ghost Station, where they fought against the ghosts of long-dead foes in a remote region of space. Ultimately, the duo detonated the space station so that no further DreadZone contestants could be sent there.

Emperor Percival Tachyon's Giant Walking Throne housed various gadgets and weapons which helped, and sometimes hindered, the Cragmite overlord in 'Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction'.
8. With the help of Commander Sasha and the Galactic Rangers, Ratchet and Clank's efforts to bring down Dr. Nefarious in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal' were made a little easier. But what exactly was Sasha the commander of?

Answer: Starship Phoenix

The Starship Phoenix was the pride of the Galactic Fleet, and Ratchet and Clank were able to use it as their base of operations as they ventured through the Solana Galaxy in pursuit of Dr. Nefarious. Amongst its facilities were a Gadgetron armour and weapon vendor, a VR holo-deck for testing weapons and gadgets, and a VG-9000 game system which was later used to play Qwark Vid-Comics.

Dr. Nefarious' personal warship, the Leviathan, was docked at Zeldrin Starport in the Joraal Nebula, and Ratchet and Clank infiltrated it to meet the crazed robot in person. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a trap, and the duo were only just able to get to safety before the ship self-destructed.

Lord Vorselon, a Terraklon assassin, captured Captain Qwark during their time on Quantos in 'Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time', and as such, Ratchet and Clank set out to rescue him, engaging in a battle with Vorselon as they did so. Later, Vorselon captures Alister Azimuth, a rebellious Lombax, and yet again, the duo go in to rescue their ally and give Vorselon a good hiding.

Ephemeris, also known as the Creature Collector, was a huge spaceship in 'Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One', which was originally designed to hunt down one of the scientists who worked on it. However, it was appropriated by the Loki Master, who set about gathering many of the galaxy's most dangerous foes so that they could be made to lay waste to the nearby planets and systems.
9. Amongst Ratchet and Clank's new allies and sidekicks in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal' was a monkey. Though he does appear to be more intelligent than Captain Qwark, he does prove to be useful to the heroic duo. What is this monkey's name?

Answer: Skrunch

Skrunch the monkey was the sidekick to Captain Qwark, who first encountered him on Florana. Being a monkey, Skrunch's fondness for bananas came in useful when Clank was going solo and wielded the BGAMD (Banana Guided Autonomous Monkey Device). Skrunch also manned the turrets on the Turbo Slider when Ratchet and Clank were on Tyhrranosis.

Klunk was an evil creation by Dr. Nefarious, designed to look and act exactly like Clank but act as a spy. When Ratchet rescued the kidnapped Clank in Metropolis, Klunk transformed into an ultra mech, and a tense battle ensued aboard a hover train, with Ratchet ultimately prevailing and being reunited with his robotic pal.

Lawrence was Dr. Nefarious' subservient sidekick, doing his bidding whilst also appearing to have a small amount of compassion for Ratchet and Clank at times.

Fred was a scientist working for Chairman Drek in 'Ratchet & Clank'. He was first met aboard the Blarg Tactical Research station, and encountered the duo a few times afterwards. Unfortunately for him, Fred met his maker at Annihilation Nation in 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal'.
10. Through each of Ratchet and Clank's interstellar adventures, one gadget constantly appeared in one form or another, aiding the duo as they conquered each planet and space station. First appearing in 'Ratchet & Clank' at the end of the fitness course in Metropolis, what is this enduring gadget?

Answer: swingshot

Though they believed the Swingshot to be a free prize upon completion of the fitness course, Ratchet and Clank had to pay Helga 1,000 bolts to receive it.

The Swingshot functioned by latching onto Versa-Targets and, depending on the type of target, either allowed the pair to swing in mid-air, or to grapple and pull themselves towards a platform or another target.

In 'Ratchet & Clank 3', the Swingshot evolved into the Hypershot, a hybrid gadget that functioned like the Swingshot and the Dynamo gadget from 'Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded'.
