Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With all the adventures, it's strange that this character doesn't have a swollen head until people realize that the characters "up + B" move is being used.

Answer: Mario

Mario is the main mascot of the Nintendo company but before he starred in his own series, he starred with Donkey Kong and was named Jumpman. When playing his side scrolling games I always thought that he used his head to knock the blocks when in reality he actually uses his Super Jump Punch. Mario is a well rounded character in speed and power.

He can punch, throw fireballs, and uses his cape to reflect projectiles.
2. This character is able to unleash a rapid barrage of the same attack. However, this move is not able to stop the movement of opponents.

Answer: Fox

Fox is the fastest of all the characters but he is also one of the weakest. Fox's Blaster Shot move was improved from "Super Smash Bros." as he is able to shoot it rapidly. However, it does not affect his opponents that much. He is probably the best character for the Home Run Derby. Hit the sandbag several times with the bat until it's at the edge then fire your blaster shot as fast as possible then smash the bag with a home run.

The anger management hint was describing the sandbag because on its trophy it says it doesn't mind characters taking out their frustration on it.
3. Found in the Smash personals: "Single Caucasian video game character seeks other video game character. Hobbies include sewing, music, and landscaping."

Answer: Zelda/Sheik

Zelda was first introduced in "The Legend of Zelda" but was not introduced as Sheik until "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Zelda's attacks are based mostly on magic while Sheik is based on agility. Sheik has a chain and a needle storm (sewing) attack while Zelda uses Nayru's Love and Din's Fire. Shiek was very talented with her harp(music) with songs such as "Minuet of The Forest", "Bolero of Fire", and "The Serenade of Water". With the knowledge of the elements she would be an excellent landscaper.
4. This character is usually not considered a master of elements. On the other hand, thunder seems to be partial to this character who is vaguely related to a popular Muppet character.

Answer: Ness

Ness appeared as a hidden character in "Super Smash Bros." but has become an initial character in "Super Smash Bros. Melee." Most of Ness' psychic attacks have some relation to thunder. His PK Flash when fully charged makes the sound of thunder. His PK Fire is shaped like lightning bolts before they ignite, and His PK Thunder is well...thunder. Ness has a variety of normal attacks such as a baseball bat and a yo-yo.

He also has a very distinct jump and throw as he uses his psychic powers to recover. Ness also has a hidden stage which can be unlocked by playing Vs. Mode 100 times and it is called Fourside.

This is a tall city where a UFO constantly appears. The muppet character he is slightly related to is The Sweedish Chef since Ness has a little bit of a Sweedish accent in him.
5. This character has the potential to unlock another character who shares almost the same moves. This character's theme music also appears in two stages from a different game.

Answer: Marth

Marth is a unique character wielding a rapier and appeared in "Fire Emblem" only available in Japan. His skills may not be as great as Link's but he is faster. All of his moves (excluding his throw move) involve his sword. Marth's music appears when Ganondorf is journeying through the Underground Maze in Adventure Mode and can also be played in the Hyrule Temple stage. You can unlock Marth by playing Vs. Mode or any regular match mode with all fourteen initial characters or by playing Vs. Mode four hundred times.
6. This character has a good balance of power, defense, and speed. This character is also considered endangered due to the fact of their smash move that is considered to be extinct.

Answer: Captain Falcon

Captain Falcon also appeared as a hidden character in "Super Smash Bros." but is a regular in "Super Smash Bros. Melee." Every attack of Captain Falcon is fire elemental except for his regular attacks and his throw. That is why it would be good to have marshmallows around him. Most of his attacks are named after a Falcon such as his Falcon Punch, Falcon Dive, and Falcon Kick.

The new move is a smash move named the Raptor Boost and a Raptor is considered to be an extinct dinosaur. I realize raptor is also a technical name for a bird of prey, but I put dinosaur in so that it would be cryptic. Captain Falcon has a hidden stage named Big Blue which is unlocked after 150 vs. matches.
7. Unknown to most Nintendo experts, this character has appeared on every Nintendo system, excluding Virtual Boy. Very slightly, in some views, this character tries to impersonate Jim Carrey.

Answer: Young Link

Young Link was actually the original Link in "The Legend of Zelda." The actual Link was not introduced until "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Young Link practically has the same moves as Link except, his Kokiri sword is weaker, his hookshot is shorter, and he uses fire arrows with his bow. Also when he is fighting Saria's Song is being played instead of the original Link theme. One of Young Link's trademarks was his variety of masks and Jim Carrey starred in the movie "The Mask." Young Link is faster and more agile than regular Link but his powers are weaker but he is still a formidable foe. To unlock Young Link you must complete a 1 player-mode with at least 10 characters or play vs. mode five hundred times. Due to his taunt, do you think he'll appear in the next "Got Milk?" commercial?
8. Also found in Smash personals: "Fantasy video game character seeks other fantasy character. Favorite actor is Dana Carvey."

Answer: Kirby

Kirby is probably my all time favorite smash character. Kirby has the ability to copy his enemies powers which would make him a "Master of Disguise" a hilarious movie starring Dana Carvey. The majority of Kirby's moves are taken from his many forms in his games.

These include Backdrop Kirby, Throw Kirby, Cutter Kirby, and Stone Kirby. He is also able to float safely back to stage but not for long. However, due to his light weight he is fairly easy to knock off stage also.
9. This character has the ability to be dead and alive at the same time. This character when residing in a temple of four dead spirits impersonates the one who came before their appearance.

Answer: Ganondorf

Ganondorf first appeared in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Beforehand, Ganon was the main villain of Link. Ganondorf appeared as the final boss in "Ocarina of Time" but his ghost also appeared in The Forest Temple as the boss named Phantom Ganon which is not true.

This is because he is Phantom Ganondorf he is not Ganon. Ganondorf is slower than his counterpart Captain Falcon but he is also more powerful. His attacks emit a violet flame when struck. He is described as a Warlock which Daniel Raventhorne was a warlock in the movie "Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost." You can unlock Ganondorf by clearing event match #29 or play vs. mode six hundred times.
10. A hidden character who is guarded by quite a few comrades. This character is also the easiest character to knock off stage, but possesses an immense amount of power.

Answer: Pichu

I thought Pikachu was the most annoying character but Pichu takes the cake with its whiny voice when it gets knocked off stage. Pichu has the exact same moves (excluding taunts) as Pikachu which makes sense since Pichu becomes Pikachu. Pichu made its appearance in "Pokemon Gold and Silver." Pichu can be unlocked by clearing Event Match #37 or play vs. mode two hundred times which will also unlock the hidden Pokemon stage Poke' Floats. Event match #37 includes large Wire Frame battles with Poke'balls that have legendary Pokemon in it which hints to Pichu's comrades.
11. This character could give you a physical and even has their own personal assistant. This character plays the same role in almost every game they have appeared in.

Answer: Peach

Peach is the princess of Mushroom Kingdom who was formally known as Toadstool. Peach carries Toad with her as a reflection of attacks. Peach's costume can be colored white which portrays her as Nurse Peach as she was in "Dr. Mario." The role for Peach is the original Damsel in Distress role as she is constantly captured by Bowser. Peach however got to strut her stuff in "Super Mario RPG." She has also appeared as a tennis player and a golfer.
12. Considered a hostile character, this character however, is not considered good or bad. This is an independent character and was somewhat the main plot of the game it appeared in.

Answer: Mewtwo

Mewtwo the Genetic Poke'mon is one of the more powerful hidden characters. It was considered the most powerful Poke'mon in "Poke'mon Red and Blue." It could only be captured in the Unknown Dungeon in Cerulean City and was much easier to capture with the Master Ball. Mewtwo was the offspring of the hidden Pokemon Mew #151 hence the name two.

A common stereotype of villains is that they are often seen with cats and Mewtwo is like a cat which is what the hint was suggesting at. Mewtwo can be unlocked by playing a combined twenty hours in vs. mode or playing vs. mode seven hundred times.
13. We are midway through the quiz ao I'll give you an easy one so your brain can recover. This team wears pink and blue and haven't appeared since the NES.

Answer: Ice Climbers

If you didn't get this one you need serious help. The Ice Climbers are not my favorite because if you lose one you either die or become weaker. The two characters are never seen apart and have a very annoying stage infested with Tipos and Polar Bears. The Ice Climbers although weak can keep their enemies frozen solid.
14. Slightly improved from "Super Smash Bros.", but this character is still very easy to knock off. It sported a green headband look in this game in addition to it's ordinary look.

Answer: Jigglypuff

In the past I have said Jigglypuff is a weak character but if used correctly it can be devestating. What is really humorous is that it appeared as a hidden character...again! It's new Rollout attack is somewhat good but requires some serious charging to cause any serious damage and it's sleep-inducing moves can be easily blocked with projectiles. Jigglypuff can be unlocked by beating Classic Mode or Adventure Mode with any character or play Vs. Mode fifty times.
15. This characters primary weapon is more powerful but is slower than its counterpart. This character also has a large group of guards.

Answer: Falco

Falco is Fox's surly Arwing partner. Falco's blaster shot is slower than Fox's but at least it actually affects the opponent. Besides that though, Falco has the same moves as Fox. Falco can be unlocked by surviving the 100-man melee or playing vs. mode three hundred times. Both of these are supernatural feats. Also when you unlock Falco you will get more event matches #31- 39 I believe.
16. This character used to be very popular but has declined in this attribute over time. In fact, this character has been cut from one of the more popular game series.

Answer: DK

Donkey Kong went popular when starring in the "Donkey Kong Country" series. He also appeared in the "MarioKart" series and the "Mario Party" series but was cut out from "Mario Party 5" as a playable character which is a shame because he was my favorite. DK used to be the strongest character in "Super Smash Bros.", but in "Super Smash Bros. Melee" he was replaced by Bowser. DK can paralyze an opponent with his headbutt move though.
17. This character is about as weak as another character, but on its own, this character is quite powerful yet strangely annoying, especially in the first game when they starred alone, at the same time. The character also has a very powerful, yet, risky move.

Answer: Yoshi

Yoshi has been Mario's companion ever since Mario was a baby but Yoshi decided to seek his own career later. He first appeared on his own in "Yoshi's Story" for the N64. The several yoshis were quite strong yet annoying as you left them still and started dancing in place and singing. Oh it was almost too cute! There are pros to Yoshi though.

His Egg Roll (Chinese?) move is risky but yet very powerful at the same time. Also his Egg Lay attack is awesome if you can lure an enemy to the edge of a platform and drop him off.

His Yoshi Bomb is also a very powerful move.
18. This character has basically replaced another player from "Super Smash Bros." for the N64. This character has a move closely related to another character and also has a move related to an item.

Answer: Bowser

Bowser finally gets into the ring. Bowser was always a persistent foe to Mario but was actually a good guy in "Super Mario RPG." Bowsers strength is unmatched which as he has replaced DK in the quality of strength. Bowser's Bowser Bomb is closely related to Yoshi's Yoshi Bomb and his Fire Breath is closely related to the Fire Flower but it decreases in strength after time.
19. This character has been rising in popularity almost as much as Mario. The player has also starred in it's own game along as a camera, system, and "Giga Pet."

Answer: Pikachu

Pikachu has been named the official flagship Poke'mon but personally I think Vulpix is cuter...ahem..anyways. Pikachu also excels in speed. Pikachu has appeared in the game "Hey You, Pikachu" all by himself. He has also appeared as a camera in a "Nintendo Power" contest.

He has also appeared twice as a "Pocket Pikachu" which was based off the addictive "Giga Pets." Pikachu seem to be rare to find in the new version of the "Pokemon" series but they are still as popular as ever. Pikachu was also the mandatory Pokemon to have always in "Pokemon Yellow" which was based off the TV series.
20. This character has appeared in a game series closely related to possibly one of the most popular Nintendo games that has appeared on computers, calculators, and even Palm Pilots.

Answer: Dr. Mario

All of these characters somewhat relate to a popular Nintendo game but Dr. Mario is the correct answer. "Dr. Mario" is closely related to the addictive game "Tetris" except for the fact that it actually has a plot. Dr. Mario is slower than Mario but his Megavitamins pack more of a punch than Mario's fireballs. Dr. Mario can be unlocked by completing Adventure or Classic mode with Mario or by playing Vs. Mode one hundred times.
21. This character has been popular since the same year Game Boy was released and appeared with a character named "Justin Bailey" five years later.

Answer: Samus

Samus appeared in "Metroid" in the August of 1988. Samus is a very powerful character known for her very dangerous stages. Samus not known to many is a bounter hunter who is actually a girl. In "Super Metroid" a new code was installed called "Justin Bailey." This code outfitted Samus in just a swimsuit. Good news for you guys out there because bailey is another name for a swimsuit.

After playing Vs. Mode fifty times you can unlock Samus' other stage which is Brinstar Depths. This enables you to get the Kraid trophy and actually fight on his stage which he constantly flips around.
22. This character had only one appearance in a game before making their appearance in "Super Smash Bros." for N64 and had not starred in any others before the release of "Super Smash Bros. Melee."

Answer: Link

Link as revealed earlier in the quiz was first introduced in "The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time." This is very odd since most people refer to him in all the Zelda games. Link appears with a Hylian shield instead of the Deku Shield that Young Link has. He also has weaker arrows, a stronger sword and a longer hookshot.
23. This character is less mature than their counterpar, uses fire in their moves and has the potential to KO a character with one move.

Answer: Roy

Roy who also appeared in "Fire Emblem" is the counterpart of Marth. He is not as powerful as Marth even though it may look like it. He adds some fire elemental sword tricks and when fully charged his B move can KO a character in one move. Roy can be unlocked by beating Adventure Mode or classic mode with Marth, or by playing vs. mode nine hundred times.
24. Due to the not so valiant efforts of this character, an initial character was able to make their appearence in "Super Smash Bros. Melee." Due to this, the hero was made a hidden character.

Answer: Luigi

Luigi finally starred in his own game on Gamecube called "Luigi's Mansion" in which Luigi had to save Mario from the clutches of King Boo. It was very easy to beat but was definitely up to Nintendo's standard. Luigi is Mario's younger brother but he is taller and can therefore jump higher than Mario. Luigi's green fireball does not bounce and his Green Missile attack is similar to Pikachu's and Pichu's Skull Bash attack. Luigi is more powerful than Mario as he can add fire into some of his moves. Luigi's stage is known as Mushroom Kingdom II.

This contains the wimpy graphics of "Super Mario Bros. II" along with the music and some guest appearances. Luigi can be unlocked by having a two in the last seconds timer at the end of the first Adventure mode stage. You can tell because Luigi will fly over the castle and you will battle him instead of Mario or you could go to the trouble of playing vs. mode eight hundred times.
25. Let your brain rejoice for this is the last question and it is another easy one. This character is the last character to make an appearance. The character is mono-colored and shows their cooking skills along with a bunch of other humurous attacks to its opponents.

Answer: Mr. Game and Watch

Mr. Game and Watch is the last character to appear in the game. He can flip bacon by pressing his B move which is cooking skills. I think the main purpose for Mr. Game and Watch is for comic relief not to actually be played with but you never know. Mr. Game and Watch can be unlocked by completing Adventure, Classic, or target test mode with all 24 character or by the insane amount of playing one thousand vs. matches.
