Why by Annie Lennox What'll be the last track I wonder? :) Reply #121. Jul 12 18, 11:26 AM |

Hope this isn't an anti climax Jen, but since the first track is about Woodstock, I thought I'd end with another Woodstock song. Lay Down (Candles In The Rain) by Melanie If you don't know it, try and find it, youtube or whatever. I have the full seven plus minute version on her Greatest Hits CD. She performed at Woodstock and it blew her mind, and that's what the song's about. Your pick for next genre of album. Reply #122. Jul 12 18, 11:57 AM |

I'll make sure to give that a listen! It’s actually pretty fitting to begin and end on a Woodstock theme. Singer-Songwriters Record 1) Woodstock by Joni Mitchell 2) Piano Man by Billy Joel 3) Fire And Rain by James Taylor 4) You're So Vain by Carly Simon 5) Rosie by Jackson Browne 6) Young Turks by Rod Stewart (end of Side One) 7) Black Horse and The Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall 8) Death By Chocolate by Sia 9) Broadway Hotel by Al Stewart 10) Stand By Me by Ben E. King 11) Working Class Hero by John Lennon 12) Why by Annie Lennox 13) Lay Down (Candles In The Rain) by Melanie How about a record of just some great duets? 1) “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell Reply #123. Love the duets Sinatra did in the 50's with Keely Smith. Two great voices singing very witty lyrics. 2) How Are Ya Fixed For Love? by Frank Sinatra and Keely Smith Reply #124. Jul 13 18, 12:38 PM |

This was a one hit wonder back in the 70's. Corny as it is, it's also quite cute and funny. The female is angry that her partner saw his ex earlier that day, he tries to explain it was all innocent, she doesn't believe him, he says she's got it all wrong, and things are resolved before the song ends: 4) Lucky Stars by Dean Friedman and Denise Marsa (Lovely vocal by Marsa, whoever she is. Never heard any other recording of hers since then) Reply #126. Jul 16 18, 2:16 PM |

5) Another Heart Calls by Tyson Ritter and Catherine Pierce (technically it's the bands All-American Rejects and The Pierces but they're the singers for this particular ((great!)) duet) Reply #127. Jul 17 18, 11:27 AM |

There have been many great versions of Baby It's Cold Outside but I'll select.... 6) Baby It's Cold Outside by Sammy Davis Jr. and Carmen McRae. Those great songwriters of decades and decades ago were geniuses. I think Frank Loesser wrote this one. He's the guy who wrote Guys And Dolls. Reply #128. Jul 17 18, 8:59 PM |

7) Nutshell by Brent Smith and Shaun Morgan (Their great bands are Shinedown and Seether, respectively) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlozpa5Tk-k So haunting. Reply #129. Jul 18 18, 11:30 AM |

An interesting mix of duets so far. 8) Candy by Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson. (Kate is of course THE Kate Pierson from The B52's. When I listen to that band, I always try and block out Fred Schneider's voice and concentrate on Kate. And Cindy Wilson on the earlier tracks.) Reply #130. Jul 18 18, 1:55 PM |

Some Velvet Morning by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood (This is a great example of a weird, whacky, but brilliant song. There's nothing like this in the entire history of recordings) "Phaedra is my name" etc. etc. Reply #132. Jul 19 18, 2:06 PM |

This next one is right out of left field but is an essential listening duet because it's so funny. And you don't need to be a fan of classical music to enjoy it. 12) Cats Duet by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Victoria De Los Angeles. Gerald Moore accompanies them on piano. It was written by Rossini and it's just two cats howling plaintively at each other. But it's so musical, and these are two legends of opera performing it. Trust me, you'll be laughing all the way through it, it's so well done. Goes for about three minutes. A masterpiece of comedy. Do you want a 13 track album Jen so you can pick the final duet? Let's do an all female vocalist album. Solo artists and/or lead singers. 1) Love Alive by Heart (Anne Wilson) Reply #136. Jul 23 18, 12:04 PM |
