6) Me And Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul (If this Boxed Set really existed, CD sales would take over from downloads, temporarily at least. Zillions of people would buy it. Excellent idea Jen.) Reply #183. Aug 23 18, 2:39 PM |

And of course, the one proviso is all the songs would be unedited. A lot of compilation albums have too many edited versions of great songs. A good example is David Essex. His hit City Lights was one of the great 70's songs but if you buy any of his Best Of CD's, that song always has the same bit missing. Similar to radio stations always playing the edited versions of All Right Now by Free and More Than A Feeling by Boston. Reply #184. Aug 23 18, 2:57 PM |

I too have heard edited versions of songs on the radio... sad to think some people might not even know the REAL versions of songs, the ones intended by the artist. Like The Eagles' "Lyin' Eyes" when they completely remove the middle section ("she rushes to his arms...") which practically destroys much of the point of the song. Reply #186. Aug 24 18, 9:55 AM |

9) Layla by Derek And The Dominos (original album version with long piano coda and those seagull sounds by Duane Allman on guitar. I think Layla was their only hit single.) Reply #188. Aug 25 18, 5:06 AM |

Five In A Row by D Generation (a send up of five Aussie musical icons with comedy bits thrown in by a fictional Aussie DJ. Very, very funny. The snippets of songs played are pure gold, done as a pastiche of the original songs.) Reply #200. Sep 05 18, 4:43 PM |
