Amazing Race Asia 1
Ernie and Jeena. After the Detour, teams were required to travel to the Pit Stop for this leg of the race, the Monas National Monument in Jakarta. The first team to arrive was Sahil and Prashant, who took the Fast Forward clue. The final team to arrive was Ernie and Jeena, who failed to reach the Fast Forward in time and were forced to complete the leg. They were the first team eliminated from the race.
Sahil and Prashant. In this Fast Forward, teams had to travel six miles to an Indonesian school for another clue. This clue told teams to search the school for children listening to Sony MP3 walkmans. Once a team has found the one child who is listening to the phrase 'you have chosen correctly', they could receive a clue taking them directly to the Pit Stop. Sahil and Prashant were first to arrive despite the fact that Jeena and Ernie left the Zoo first, and they obtained the clue.
Jeena. At the Rangunan Zoo, teams had to split off and complete a Road Block task. In this task, they needed to choose one person who liked animals. Team members had to walk into a snake pit with some of the world's largest snakes and retrieve a clue from the center of the pit within two minutes. After this, teams were given the Route Info and a Fast Forward.
Indonesia. Teams departed from the base of the Kuala Lampur Tower in the middle of the night and were told to drive to the airport, where they could take an Air Asia flight to Jakarta, Indonesia. Once there, teams had to race in taxis to the Rangunan Zoo for their next clue. This clue was also the first Road Block of "The Amazing Race Asia".
Four. After the Detour, teams were instructed to drive a marked car thirty miles to the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lampur. Once there, teams received another clue. This clue instructed team members to suit up and drive a go-kart around the stadium through four consecutive laps. Both team members needed to do this task separately. After this, they would receive their next clue.
One. At Komplex Kraf, teams completed the Detour. In this Leg, teams chose between 'Paint' and 'Pot'. In 'Paint', teams needed to complete a traditional silk batik painting. If the painting had a small flaw, the judge could refuse to hand over their clue. In 'Pot', team members worked together to mold a clay pot. While one member molded the clay, the other could control the wheel speed. Ernie and Jeena were the only ones to participate in this task.
Drop eight floors to the ground floor of the mall. Once on the eighth floor, teams had to drop to the bottom floor of the mall to receive their next clue. One team member could use the rappel line at a time to abseil to the bottom. At the bottom, teams received a clue telling them to travel to Komplex Kraf in Kuala Lampur. Teams could only travel by taxi to this route marker. Once there, teams received the Detour.
Kuala Lampur. Ten teams began the race at Dataran Merdeka, also known as Independence Square, in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. These ten teams were from eight different countries around Asia and each pair had a pre-existing relationship. The first clue told teams to shop until they dropped. They were told to travel to Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lampur, then head to the eighth floor of the shopping mall there.
Howard and Sahran. After the Road Block, teams were instructed to take a ferry to the Circular Quay station and then take a water taxi to the Tall Bounty located in Sydney Harbour. This ship held the fourth Pit Stop. Although they were fourth to the Road Block, Andrew and Syeon were first to arrive at the Pit Stop. The last team to arrive was Howard and Sahran though Leg 4 was a pre-determined non-elimination leg. They also incurred a four hour penalty because Howard quit the diving Road Block.
Sandy and Francesca. After filming locals, teams needed to take a ferry across Sydney Harbour to the suburb of Manly, nearly eleven kilometers away. Once there, teams could find their next clue at Oceanworld. This clue turned out to be a Road Block which required that one team member dive into a tank full of sharks, sting rays, and other dangerous sea creatures. This task was used in the fourth season of the North American "Amazing Race" as a Road Block.
Click Goes the Shears. After the Detour task, teams needed to make their way on foot to the base of Mrs. Macquarie's Chair in Sydney. Here, teams were instructed to go to the World Square Shopping Center and Sony Central inside. Using Sony Handycams, teams were required to film a local singing the song "Click Goes the Shears". Once finished, they needed to return to the store and play their video on a television. If the tune was correct, they could obtain their next clue.
Four. At Dawes Point, teams obtained their Detour clues. In 'Elevation', teams needed to scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Once at the top, teams could obtain their next clue. It is interesting to note that the same task was used in the second season of the North American "Amazing Race", though it wasn't a Detour task. In 'Crustacean', teams needed to travel to Doyle's at the Quay, a Sydney seafood restaurant located on the water's edge. Once there, they needed to shell fourteen kilograms of prawns to obtain their next clue.
Sydney. At 2:31 am, the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop without a penalty was Howard and Sahran. They were instructed to head out from Tanah Lot Temple in Bali, Indonesia and fly to Sydney, Australia. Once there, teams needed to take a taxi to Dawes Point on the Sydney waterfront to find their next clue. Four teams departed from Denpasar's Tanah Lot Temple with a four hour time penalty due to their failure to complete the Road Block in Leg 3. All eight teams took the same flights from Bali, to Singapore, to Sydney.
Aubrey and Jacqueline. After the Detour, teams needed to travel to the Uluwatu Caves, where they could receive another clue. Once there, teams were instructed to head to the Pit Stop, the Tanah Lot Temple. Although Zabrina and Joe Jer arrived at the Pit Stop first, the four hour penalty set them back and Howard and Sahran placed first for the third leg winning themselves new Sony camcorders. Unable to overcome their penalty, Jacqueline and Aubrey were eliminated in this leg.
Five. At the Ubud Monkey Forest, teams obtained the Detour, giving them a choice between 'Wet' and 'Dry'. In 'Wet', teams needed to travel to a nearby rainforest and take a trail to a river inside. Once there, they would need to white-water raft down a six kilometer course. In 'Dry', teams needed to ride an elephant at and Elephant Safari Park over a three kilometre course. While four teams completed the 'Wet' task, five opted for 'Dry'.

Ten. After the Road Block, teams needed to navigate the streets of Bali to find an internet cafe known as Internet Outpost. Once there, teams could log onto MSN and obtain their clue either from an attendant or by printing it off manually. Teams then needed to travel to drive thirty-three miles to the Ubud Monkey Forest, home to hundreds of monkeys. Here, they needed to navigate the forest to find one of ten clues hidden in two hundred envelopes scattered amongst the trees.
A surfboard. At Kuta Beach, teams obtained their Road Block for Leg 3. This Road Block rfequired that one team member make their way down Kuta Beach to marked plots in the sand. Once there, that teammate would need to dig down forty centimetres at a marked plot in order to find a small surfboard souvenir. Once they handed the figurine to a nearby surfer, they could receive their next clue. After 1.5 hours, Andy and Laura and Mardy and Marsio dropped out, instead opting for a four hour time penalty, while the others dug away. Aubrey and Jacqueline dropped out at 2 hours. The first surfboard was found at the 2 hour mark by Sahil and Prashant. Soon after, Zabrina and Joe Jer and Andrew and Syeon took their penalty at the 4 hour mark.
Sharon and Melody. Following the Road Block, teams were instructed to drive to Central Otago where they would find the Chard Farm Winery. Here, teams would come upon the sixth Pit Stop in their race. The first team to arrive was Sandy and Francesca. The last team to arrive, on the other hand, was Sharon and Melody, who couldn't regain their position after participating in the ATV task. Due to Andy's speeding fine, he and Laura must start the next leg nearly an hour and a half later than they should.

No. After arriving in Arrowtown, teams were instructed to head to Offroad Adventures where they needed to complete a course as a team. All teams had to wait until the following day as the course closed at an early time. Once teams finished the course, they were instructed to head to their Road Block clue- an intense bungee jump over 145 metres. Team members had only two minutes to complete this task once on the platform.
Four. In 'Luge', teams needed to complete a tag team relay around Bob's Peak's Skyline Luge course. After the team completed a combined total of eight laps, they could be handed their next clue. Zabrina and Joe Jer, Howard and Sahran, Sharon and Melody completed this task. Following the Detour, teams needed to travel to Arrowtown for their next clue.
Zabrina and Joe Jer. After arriving at Caltex, teams obtained their Detour clues. For both clues, teams needed to take a lift to Bob's Peak in Queenstown. From there, they could choose between 'Ledge' and 'Luge'. In 'Ledge', teams needed to perform the AJ Hackett Ledge Swing nearly 400 metres in the air. Both team members would need to do this individually. Mardy and Marsio, Andy and Laura, Sandy and Francesca, and Andrew and Syeon
Sahil and Prashant. Following the harrowing Road Block task, teams needed to travel by taxi to the Auckland Museum. On the front steps, teams could find their next Pit Stop. Despite a leg injury from the previous leg, Andy and Laura were able to secure a first place finish for this leg of the race. Although Sahil and Prashant reached the Pit Stop in fifth place, they incurred an hour-long time penalty because they made use of a private car. Because of this, they were eliminated.
Francesca. After ascending the Vertigo Climb, teams needed to retrace their steps and head to level 53 of the Sky City Tower and open their Road Block clue. For this Road Block, one team member needed to jump off the Sky City Tower in what's known as the Sky Jump while the other remained at the base of the tower. Andy, Andrew, Zabrina, Howard, Prashant, Francesca, Mardy and Sharon completed this Road Block.
Three. In 'Rugby', teams needed to travel to Victoria Park and don the New Zealand national rugby team's jersey. Once the team had a combined score of three goals (from the 22 metre line) they could receive their next clue. Andrew and Syeon and Sahil and Prashant completed this task.
Following the Detour, teams needed to travel to Sky City Casino where they could complete the Vertigo Climb.
Six. Once teams obtained a clue from the child on a swing, they needed to choose a Detour task. In 'Rigging', teams needed to travel to West Haven Marina and rig a yacht according to an example given to them. Andy and Laura, Zabrina and Joe Jer, Howard and Sahran, Mandy and Marsio, Sandy and Francesca, and Sharon and Melody completed this task.
New Zealand. Departing from the fourth Pit Stop, a replica of the famous ship, The Bounty, teams were told to take an Air New Zealand flight to Auckland, New Zealand. Here, teams were told to take a ferry to Devonport where they would need to find a child on a swing. Andrew and Syeon were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, so they were the first to depart. Howard and Sahran departed after completing a four hour time penalty.
Howard and Sahran. After reaching the clue at Koh Hong, teams were told to head to the Pit Stop at Ko Pak Bia. The first team to arrive at this eighth Pit Stop was Mardy and Marsio, who claimed the Fast Forward. They only arrived four minutes before second-place Andy and Laura. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they left the Detour in last place, and Sahran's fear of heights, Howard and Sahran arrived in last place and were eliminated.
Howard. After completing the Detour, teams needed to take a boat to Railey East 123 Wall. Once here, one member needed to complete the Road Block for this leg of the race. One team member needed to scale the giant rock wall to collect their next clue. Andy, Andrew, Zabrina, Sandy, and Sahran completed this task. After the Road Block task, teams were instructed to take a boat to Koh Hong Lagoon where they could find their next clue.
One. For the Detour, teams needed to travel to Koh Poda Island. Once there, they could choose between 'Smash' or 'Grab'. In 'Smash', teams needed to smash coconuts to find one (in seventy-five) containing red ink. In 'Grab', teams needed to search amongst one hundred buoys in the bay for one of ten containing a correct clue. Sandy and Francescachose to complete 'Smash' while Andrew and Syeon, Zabrina and Joe Jer, Howard and Sahran, and Andy and Laura chose 'Grab'.
Mardy and Marsio. When teams arrived on the beach, they were given their Detour and a Fast Forward clue. For the Fast Forward, teams needed to get into a Longtail Boat and ride it to Pranang Bay. Once there, teams needed to search many hidden caves for the clue. Mardy and Marsio were the first to complete the task and were able to skip all tasks, heading straight to the Pit Stop.
Andy and Laura. Following their Road Block tasks, teams needed to travel to Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Here, teams could find their seventh Pit Stop. With their knowledge of some of the Thai language, Andy and Laura were able to reach the Pit Stop in first place. Zabrina and Joe Jer were last to arrive, but they were saved by an announcement that it was a non-elimination leg of the race. They were forced to give up all of their money as a penalty.
