These are the words that Angela uses to tell Eragon's fortune in Teirm. He recognized them from the Ancient Language, which is how he knows the fortune telling to be true magic.

This is after he meets Murtagh, and right before Saphira turns the tomb to diamond; it would be hard to carve words into diamond. That is one of the few times Saphira uses magic. Another time is when she puts the star on the baby's forehead in Farthen Dur.

In this short chapter Eragon wants to warn Garrow about the Ra'zac, or 'strangers', and tell him about Saphira. As a consequence Garrow is in the house when the Ra' Zac come and he is killed.
