Answer: A loud explosion

The stone is in fact a dragon egg from which Eragon's blue dragon Saphira hatches.

2. Which of these is a lake which is near the Spine of the World?

Answer: Isenstar

It is close to Yazuac, Daret and Gil'ead. I trust you didn't use your books for this one!

3. Near which Elven city are Arya and her two Elven bodyguards ambushed by Durza and his band of Urgals?

Answer: Osilon

All these cities are in the great forest Du Weldenvarden, which means "The Guarding Path".

4. Who was the leader of the Dragon Riders before they were exiled by Galbatorix and the Forsworn?

Answer: Vrael

Vrael was killed in the last battle of the Dragon Riders at Doru Arabea on Vroengard island.

5. How many living dragonriders, current or former, do we meet or know about in "Eragon"?

Answer: 3

They are Brom, Eragon and Galbatorix. Two more come in the next book, and they don't count either. Morzan and Vrael also don't count because they are dead during the whole of "Eragon", while Brom is alive for the entire first half of "Eragon".

He uses 'brisingr' or fire for the first time to fight off some Urgals. It is his first use of magic and Brom is shocked by Eragon's discovery of it.

When Eragon breaks in to Durzan's mind, shortly before receiving a serious wound from Durza, he finds out that Durza was called Carsaib before he became a Shade. The others are just 'Shade' in different languages.

9. What is the chapter in 'Eragon' where Eragon has a dream about leaving Algaesia forever?

Answer: Deathwatch

A lot of speculation as to the event in Empire is related to this particular dream. It is believed that Eragon and Arya are the two walking in hand and that the man on the beach is Galbatorix, Murtagh, Oromis or perhaps someone else.

10. How does Eragon kill Durza?

Answer: stabbing

After Eragon kills Durza, the spirits of the Kull are released and the Kull start fighting each other. This allows the Varden and dwarves to win the battle. Durza is a Shade, and Shades can only be killed if they are stabbed in the heart with a blade.
