Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Being a military unit, Rogue Squadron was not immune to the tragedies of war. Of the following, who was a replacement for one of Rouge Squadron's lost members?

Answer: Aril Nunb

Aril Nunb is a Sullustian, and was Nien Nunb's sister. Nien was Lando Calrissian's co-pilot during the Battle of Endor. Aril Nunb became the new Rogue 12, replacing Andoorni Hui, who had died during the Battle of Borleias.

Riv Shiel, Erisi Dlarit, and Wedge Antillies were all original members of the remade Rogue Squadron, formed in the previous book, X-Wing: Rogue Squadron.
2. Which planet did the Rebel Alliance retake from the Empire in "Wedge's Gamble"?

Answer: Coruscant

Coruscant was the seat of galactic governments for millennia. It was the capital for the old Republic, and remained the capital when Palpatine turned the Republic into the Empire. The capture of Coruscant by the Rebel Alliance let them finally establish themselves as a galactic government, become the New Republic.

Coruscant would change hand many more times, but it would always be the seat of the dominant governing body of the galaxy.
3. Where did Ysanne Isard flee to when the Rebellion attacked her planet?

Answer: No one knew

Bastion was an Imperial world that would become the capital of their Empire after they lost Coruscant. It was near the edge of the galaxy, far away from Rebel/Republic forces, and had so many ships and fortifications that the Rebels never even bothered trying to attack it.

Kessel was a prison world one which convicts worked spice mines in terrible conditions. The late Rogue pilot Lujayne Forge and her sister, Inyri Forge, were from Kessel. The Rogues went to Kessel to retrieve prisoners for their mission on Coruscant.

The Maw was a cluster of black holes near Kessel, and navigating them was extremely difficult. In the center of the Maw was a stable area of space in which the Empire set up a secret research facility. It was at this facility that many superweapons were designed and created, including the prototype for the Death Star.

Ysanne Isard dropped off the map once the Rebel takeover of Coruscant was assured. She left Kirtan Loor in charge of organizing a counter-insurgency on Coruscant. Everyone just assumed that she had escaped off world...
4. Which Imperial agency did Ysanne Isard belong to before she assumed leadership of the Empire?

Answer: Intelligence

Ysanne 'Ice Heart' Isard was the former Director of Intelligence before she assumed leadership of the Empire. She used blackmail and assassinations to remove her political opponents, and used her predecessor as a scapegoat.

Isard was so cold-hearted that she killed the former Director of Intelligence to take his position. The Director was her very own father.
5. Who was the Imperial agent trying to find Corran Horn and tasked with stopping Rogue Squadron?

Answer: Kirtan Loor

Corran Horn and Kirtan Loor had a long-standing hatred for each other. When Corran was still working for Corsec on Corellia, Kirtan Loor was the Imperial liaison at the time. Loor often interfered with Corsec's standard operating procedures and was responsible for letting the killer of Corran's father escape.

After working with Corsec, Loor was hired by Imperial Intelligence, and worked directly for Ysanne Isard. He was a thorn in the Rogue's side, being responsible for the attack on Talasea that killed pilot Lujayne Forge. He was tasked with preventing Rebel forces from disabling Coruscant's shields.
6. When Asyr Sei'lar approached Gavin Darklighter, her gotal associate sensed the Rogue's discomfort. What was Gavin called?

Answer: A Bigot

The Empire employed strong pro-human policies, favoring humans in higher political and military positions. Aliens were often treated as second-class citizens, herded to certain neighborhoods, and constantly harassed by human stormtroopers.

This discrimination led to many aliens holding anti-human sentiments, and a few even became violent. When Asyr approached Gavin he became nervous because he was undercover and didn't want to risk exposing himself. The gotal assumed his anxiety was because he hated non-humans, and he was called a bigot, even though Riv Shiel, a shistavanen, was right beside Gavin.
7. Rogue Squadron was tasked with bringing down the planetary shields so the Republic fleet could properly assault the planet. How did the Rogues bring down the shields?

Answer: By boiling a water resevoir, causing an electrical storm

Coruscant used large orbiting mirrors to reflect energy to the surface of Coruscant to power the planet-spanning metropolis.

Rogue Squadron managed to hack into one of the mirror control stations, and reflected a focused beam from Coruscant's sun onto a water reservoir. The water soon boiled and exploded, causing an electrical storm that temporarily brought down the shields in its sector. That window of opportunity was all the Alliance needed to start its assault on Coruscant.

Captain Needa was a Star Destroyer Captain that was killed by Darth Vader for losing the Millennium Falcon in "The Empire Strikes Back". His brother was one of the operators on the mirror that destroyed the reservoir.
8. What kind of ship did Pash Cracken primarily fly before he joined Rogue Squadron?

Answer: A-wing

The different Rebel starfighters had different strengths and weaknesses. The Y-Wings were slow, but had strong shields and armor and had an impressive payload.

The A-Wing was the opposite. It was extremely fast and small, with very light shielding. It had weaker armaments, better suited for taking out other fighters than capital ships or installations.

The X-Wing was the moderate fighter. Fast enough to be difficult to hit, but strong enough to be able to take a few punches. Its four laser cannons let it pour out lasers in dogfights while its proton torpedoes let it take on stronger targets.

Pash Cracken was the leader of one of the best A-wing squadrons in the Alliance. Most A-Wing pilots were not used to flying so slow when they moved to other ships, but most appreciated the extra armor and shielding. Pash was demoted from Captain to Lieutenant so he could join the Rogues.
9. What name did Gavin Darklighter assume when he was under cover?

Answer: Vin Leiger

The fake histories that Rogue Squadron was given said that Gavin Darklighter (Vin Leiger) worked with Riv Shiel (Shaalir Resh) as con men.

When Asyr Sei'lar asked Gavin for a dance, he refused. The gotal in the next booth sensed his discomfort and labeled him a bigot. It turned out that Asyr and the gotal were part of the Alien Combine, an anti-human group, and they were looking for imperial spies. They planned to kill him and leave his body as a message for the pro-human Imperial authorities.

The Alien Combine took Gavin and the Rogues to a warehouse, where Nawara Ven, a former lawyer and non-human, argued for Gavin's innocence. Gavin was till ordered to be executed, but before the sentence could be carried out, Imperial forces stormed the building.

Gavin tackled Asyr to the ground to save her from incoming fire, and shot back at the Imperials. This was enough to finally earn her trust, it seemed.

General Antar Roat was Wedge's false name for the mission on Coruscant. Antar used extensive cybernetics to cover his face. These fake cybernetics helped Wedge conceal his facial features from anyone who might otherwise have recognized him.
10. What species was Asyr Sei'lar?

Answer: Bothan

Asyr was described as a small bothan with black and white fur.

She was originally part of an anti-human group on Coruscant, actively defying the pro-human Imperial regime. After the Rogue's mission on Coruscant she became a member of the squadron and began a relationship with Gavin Darklighter, whom she had originally thought a bigot.
