Answer: Lou Gehrig

Robinson leads this pack with 586 round-trippers. Banks retired with 512, and Sosa topped the 500 mark in 2003. Gehrig retired with 493 home runs.
2. I was a complete 'mania' in the 1980s, after winning the Rookie of the Year and the Cy Young Award in 1981. I also led the league in strikeouts that year. I retired in 1997 with the St.Louis Cardinals, my 6th team after 17 seasons. Who am I?

Answer: Fernando Valenzuela

'Fernando Mania' as it was called in the 80s, was a result of this Dodger phenomenon. 1986 was his other great year. He also played for the Angels, Phillies, Orioles, and Padres.
3. Who led the 2001 St. Louis Cardinals in home runs?

Answer: Albert Pujols

McGwire and Pujols were the only Cardinals listed. 2001 saw McGwire's last season in baseball, and hit 29 home runs. Pujols in his rookie season, hit 37 for the Cardinals, and earn him the National League Rookie of the Year Award.

The organization began as the White Stockings from 1876-1889. They became the Colts after that, and then the Orphans from 1898-1902, before becoming the Cubs. In the Colts' era, they never won a pennant or championship.

Amazingly enough, Ryan was only the runner-up one time in his career. This came in an Angel uniform when he lost to Jim Palmer of the Orioles. Ryan led the league in strikeouts 11 times. When he retired, he was the only pitcher in history to top the 5000 mark with 5714.

Answer: Casey Stengel

Casey was the only Yankee manager listed. From 1949-1953, the Yankees entered the history books under Stengel, by defeating the Giants (1951), Phillies (1950), and the Dodgers three times (1949. 1952, 1953). A tremendous roster included Berra, Rizzuto, DiMaggio, Mantle, and the arms of Raschi, Lopat, and Reynolds.

Munson began his great career in 1969 in the Pinstripes, then won the Rookie Award in 1970. In 1976, he beat out George Brett of the Royals for the American League MVP Award. This catcher even stole 14 bases in his MVP season.

Answer: None listed

Nobody had even reached the 6000 mark in the 20th century, as only 6 players reached the 5000 mark. Upon Pete Rose's retirement, he led baseball with getting on base 5929 times in his career. The others listed, retired with 4300 and change. Rose's feat will most likely not be duplicated in baseball.
9. Which of the following was Houston's first 25 game winner in the 20th century?

Answer: Nobody

None listed were Houston pitchers. Entering the 2003 season, the Colt .45's and Astros have never had a 25 game winner. Mike Hampton went 22-4 in 1999, and was runner-up for the Cy Young Award. The others listed, all won 20 games for Houston.
10. Gaylord Perry's brother also won over 200 games in the Major Leagues, along with a Cy Young Award. What was his brother's name?

Answer: Jim

Jim Perry, 3 years the elder of Gaylord, played for 4 teams in his 17 year career. In 1970, he won the American League Cy Young with the Minnesota Twins. He was 24-12 in the season.
