Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first stop in the Trial Galaxies will be the Loopdeswoop Galaxy. What is the name of the only star in this Galaxy?

Answer: The Galaxy's Greatest Wave

Actually all of these would be accurate descriptions. The Loopdeswoop Galaxy obviously is very similar to the Loopdeloop Galaxy found in the Terrace. However, this course is much more difficult than the other course. There are several sharp turns and steep drops.

However, if you take your time and don't necessarily try to beat the best time, it is manageable to get through this course. If you beat the course in under the Elder Penguin's time, you get the only Power Star in this galaxy.
2. How many penguins are there in the Loopdeswoop Galaxy before you get on the ray? (count the elder penguin)

Answer: Five

These are the same five penguins you talked to in the Loopdeloop Galaxy. They will give you minor tips as a refresher course for Ray Surfing. The elder penguin didn't seem so concerned last time, but this time he's a little more cautious. He even asks you if you're sure you want to race the course. This statement definitely is not one to reassure you.
3. The next galaxy in the Trial Galaxies is the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy. What is the name of the only star in this galaxy?

Answer: Gizmos, Gears, and Gadgets

This can be one of the more frustrating of the Trial Galaxies. This is a fairly short course but a very treacherous one. Some of the rails you must balance your ball on are barely wide enough to let Mario walk on. There are many other hazards such as a Bob-omb infested gear with two holes on it. If you get blown up by one of these guys chances are you could fall in a hole and have to start at the beginning. Luckily, there is a whole curve of green Star Bits near the beginning. Also the last stretch can be difficult.

It is a thin rail with two blocks rotating around it. You must wait until both blocks are underneath the rail then make a speed burst along with a well-timed jump to reach the end of the course.
4. If you go out on the first bridge in the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy without the ball, you can get an easy 1-up mushroom and kill two Goombas. The one Goomba that will provide Star Bits, when hit with a spin attack, always produces what three colors of Star Bits?

Answer: red, silver, and blue

How very patriotic for the United States as this is very close to the red, white, and blue. No matter how many times you kill this Goomba with a spin attack it will produce a red, silver, and blue Star Bit. There is another Goomba on the bridge but this one will produce a coin no matter how you kill it. Killing these two Goombas beforehand also makes the first bridge crossing easier. If you jump on them with the ball, there is the possibility that the bounce will make you roll off the bridge.
5. Starting in the Bubble Blast Galaxy, you are presented with five green warp pipes on a star. Which warp pipe and hazard are NOT correct?

Answer: lower right warp pipe leads to moving solid fences

The lower right warp pipe actually moves to moving electric straight bars, while the upper one leads to moving solid fences. In each one of these five areas, there are other hazards such as Amps, and of course the electric fences surrounding the areas.

The star isn't called "The Electric Labyrinth" for nothing. In each one of these five areas, there is a star piece, and once all of these are collected they will form a Launch Star that will take you to the next area. What you thought that collecting those five pieces would get you the star? Hardly. Now the real trial of this Trial Galaxy begins.
6. Besides the electric sidings in the second part of the Bubble Blast Galaxy, what enemy do you have to deal with?

Answer: Bullet Bills

I told you this part was difficult. Now if the Bullet Bills were the same as they were in the original "Super Mario Bros." games, it wouldn't be as difficult. But as you learned all the way back from "Megaleg's Moon" the Bullet Bills home in on you. So while trying to avoid the electric sidings, moving solid fences, and other obstacles you will have Bullet Bills chasing you the whole way, which can be a panic causer. You can't really take your time in this part of the galaxy, so you have to have quick reflexes, a steady hand, and a lot of patience.

At the end of this part, you will finally find the Power Star.
7. Before getting to the last of the Trial Galaxies, we will deal with the final battle with Bowser. After the first vortex, you'll notice that you are going through shortened versions of galaxies you may have already traversed. What order do the shortened versions come in, up to the lava spiral? Note: The Freezeflame Galaxy doesn't appear in this galaxy, but due to the fact that one of the galaxies has ice in it, it will be treated as the Freezeflame Galaxy.

Answer: Melty Molten Galaxy, Freezeflame Galaxy, Dusty Dune Galaxy, Space Junk Galaxy

The first part of Bowser's stronghold has a castle setting and deals with Dry Bones and spotlights that have their own gravitational pull. In short you'll be avoiding Dry Bones and walking on the walls most of the time. Rather than using Launch Stars, Bowser's stronghold uses vortexes, and in each one are a number of Star Bits.

After the castle setting you have to deal with a shortened version of the Melty Molten Galaxy. This is complete with sinking platforms, a rolling hardened magma circle, and fireballs streaming along it. Next is an ice level, the ice squares appear like the path in the Space Junk Galaxy leading to the next vortex. You can tell it's ice because of the traction you get on it.

The shortened version of the Dusty Dune Galaxy, is mainly composed of deadly sand. You must hop along platforms, including a circling one while avoiding gaps and fire bars.

The last shortened version of the Space Junk Galaxy in which you must follow the path of crystal blocks that appear while dealing with a shift in gravity and fire bars. You then go to almost the last part which is a lava spiral, infested with Thwomps, Bullet Bills (including large ones), and green moving platforms. You must hop on these platforms while avoiding the homing Bullet Bills to reach the other side. You then see Bowser and Bowser Jr. on the top of a staircase of green and white checkered tiles.

There is a 1-up mushroom and a Life Mushroom on sides of this staircase. But of course Bowser Jr. thinks it's a good idea to blow this up while you travel up it. When you reach Bowser, prepare for an epic boss battle.
8. How many planets do you fight Bowser on in your final battle against him?

Answer: Three

In most Mario games Bowser has only come in one form and that's his normal form. In Bowser's first form he transforms into one of those large rocks that you have seen many times in places such as the Good Egg Galaxy and the Honeyhive Galaxy. But instead of a red spot on the rock, Bowser's head is the weak spot.

Avoid the boulder part but perform a spin attack on his head and he'll break from his boulder shell spinning around the planet on his back. Spin attack him while in this state twice and then you'll go to another planet to his second form.

He'll start by breathing fireballs and then will curl inside his shell making himself a giant ball covered in spikes. You have to use one of the green stretchy balloons to knock him loose. This will cause him to spin around again and then you have to do this two more times and you will come to his last form.

His last form is the most familiar because he has used this strategy the past two times you have fought him. You will be on the planet that contains a Grand Star.

He will breathe fire, stomp sending shockwaves, and do a Ground Pound move. Like usual make Bowser stomp on one of the blue spots to hurt him and then spin attack him to make him spin around on his back. Hit him these times and he will be defeated being sent to a lava planet in the middle of his galaxy.
9. What is the name of the final galaxy that appears on the same planet as the Trial Galaxies?

Answer: Grand Finale Galaxy

I like to fool my friends by telling them that the Grand Finale Galaxy is the hardest galaxy in the game. Actually the Grand Finale Galaxy is probably the easiest galaxy in the game. It takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom at the Star Festival. Near the castle the Mailtoad will give you the 121st Power Star and will send a letter to your Wii Message Board to congratulate you on beating the game.

This galaxy can only be accessed if you have collected all 120 Stars with Mario and Luigi and you need to beat Bowser for the final time twice.

The two times are once to beat the game and then another time once you've collected all 120 Stars.
10. Even though it doesn't say it, you can assume that what type of comet is in orbit when you visit the final galaxy that appears on the same planet as the Trial Galaxies?

Answer: Purple Comet

There is one last purple coin challenge for you to undergo but it's not really that much of a challenge. The majority of the purple coins are in plain view so just follow the coins. The one that many people may miss the first time is on top of the Starshroom. Do a Backwards Somersault, a Side Somersault, or a Triple Jump to land on top of it.
