Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first stop is the Space Junk Galaxy. How many stars require you to walk across debris that automatically assembles to make platforms?

Answer: 3

The three stars are Pull Star Path, Pull Star Path Speed Run, and Purple Coin Spacewalk. This debris is floating away in space until you draw near a section where more platforms need to appear. The Pull Star Path is the first instance when you have to collect several silver stars to collect one Power Star.

The silver stars are only in a small area in this stage but other times they may encompass the whole galaxy like in the Sea Slide Galaxy. This is also the first galaxy to introduce Secret Stars.

Much like the ones found in "Super Mario 64," and "Super Mario 64 DS," these stars are hidden and can be found by taking an alternate route than the actual mission. Secret Stars appear in a secret mission and it is easy to tell which one because once you complete a mission if you go to the Mission Select screen, there will be a question mark above one of the completed missions. Secret Stars are usually symbolized by Hungry Lumas who will turn into planets if you feed them enough star bits.
2. How many pedestals are there in the battle against Tarantox?

Answer: 6

There are four near the bottom and two at the top. Tarantox is a giant insect that has several weak points. In addition to trying to adjust to the viewpoints of running around in a giant circle, Tarantox will constantly rotate within the circle shooting acid from it's mouth. You must use sling pods to throw yourself at his glowing spots. Even though there are five, the main one you want to hit is the large one in the back. Once you hit that, it will cause Tarantox to flip over exposing three spots on his underside. Using sling pods again, you need to burst all three of these spots. Tarantox will flip over on to his front when all three spots are hit and he will be angrier. All four spots on his side and his mouth will spew acid out. If you burst a spot on its side, it will stop spewing acid, but once again the main target is the large back spot. Flip him over again and burst all three spots on his underside again and you have yourself another star. Tarantox is the only boss in the fountain that will not reappear later in the game.
3. In the Battlerock Galaxy, the second galaxy in the Fountain, how does the robot want you get rid of the junk in the armory depot?

Answer: blowing it up with Bob-ombs

As for the statement the robot and junk are found in another galaxy, not the Battlerock galaxy, only half of that statement is true. This mission is a secret star in the Battlerock Galaxy and also a secret star in the Dreadnought Galaxy which can be found in the Garden later in the game. Bob-ombs are introduced in this galaxy and there are two forms of bob-ombs. One type is stationary which will pop out of a compartment containing them and will not start detonating until you pick them up. The other types will chase you until they blow up. You can stop these by spinning them and then just throwing them.

After blowing up all the junk, you will get a Power Star for your efforts.
4. The Purple Comet Star in the Battlerock Galaxy, is most closely related to which other mission in the Battlerock Galaxy?

Answer: Battlerock Barrage

Battlerock Barrage, the first star in the galaxy has you going upside down and right side up on a flying saucer trying to avoid electrical barriers and other objects. One the saucer stops, you have to get a Bullet Bill to chase you and blow up the cage containing the star.

The star Purple Coins on the Battlerock is fairly similar. It has you traveling on the same flying saucer trying to grab every purple coin there by moving around, jumping over electrical barriers, and going underside of the saucer.

At the end of the course the same robot who wanted you to blow up the junk, will tell you how many purple coins you got and will reward you with a Power Star if you got all 100 of them. If you missed even one it will result in a loss of a life and will ask you if you want to try again.
5. In the Rolling Green Galaxy, you are atop a giant ball with a star inside that you must guide to a hole with a flag in it. How many more times, including the Rolling Green Galaxy, will you have to roll a giant ball like this into a hole with a flag in it?

Answer: 3

You will guide it along a golf course in the Rolling Green Galaxy, avoiding giant gaps and squashing Goombas. You will ride it again on a much tougher mechanical course in the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy, part of the Trial Galaxies. And you will ride it one more time through a lava cylinder in the mission Through the Meteor Storm in the Melty Molten Galaxy.

The weird thing about riding this ball is that it has it's own unique music and depending on how fast you roll the ball decides how fast the music will go. If you stand still on the ball no music will play, but when rolling on rails the music will go so fast that it almost sounds like the record that's playing will be destroyed. Unlike most levels, this ball-riding requires you to hold the Wiimote upright and tilt it in the direction you want to go.
6. In the Hurry-Scurry Galaxy what is the only enemy that is found?

Answer: Goomba

Before you actually reach the Shrinking Satellite, which is also the name of the star on this level, you must walk on a very short walkway of green tiles, which shrink until they disappear as soon as you walk on them. On this walkway there is a Goomba, a 1-up mushroom and some star bits.

When you reach the end of the walkway, you have to step and remain on one green tile as there is a Launch Star underneath it. This Launch Star will launch you to the actual Shrinking Satellite. On the Shrinking Satellite you have to collect all the musical notes and avoid falling to your death as there is a black hole in the middle of the satellite. Once you obtain all of the musical notes, the black hole will disappear and a Power Star will take it's place. Just drop through any hole in the satellite and the Power Star is yours.
7. In Bowser's Star Reactor, in order to make Bowser vulnerable to attack you have to make him ground pound a blue spot on the planet you're fighting on.

Answer: True

You will fight Bowser this way most of the time. You will be on a circular planet which is holding a Grand Star on the inside. Bowser will shoot fire at you or try to land on you with a ground pound. If you make Bowser ground pound a blue spot thought it will break revealing lava which will burn Bowser's tail. Bowser will run around in pain and you have to spin attack him while he's doing this.

In the later part of the value you may have to spin attack Bowser more than once as one spin will send him flying on his shell across the planet's surface.

While he's in this state just spin attack him until he falls face down. You must attack him this way three times before he will give you the Grand Star. You will face Bowser two more times in the future.

The second time you fight him is very similar to the first time you fight him and the final battle he uses this planet technique too along with some other tactics.
8. Once again a Hungry Luma will appear near the fountain and if you feed it enough star bits, it will turn into a galaxy, this time the Sling Pod Galaxy. What is the name of the only star of the Sling Pod Galaxy?

Answer: A Very Sticky Situation

Hungry Luma galaxies will always yield one star and the Sling Pod Galaxy is no different. There is only one spot of solid land in this galaxy and that's at the beginning. The rest of the time you will be using Sling Pods or Pull Stars to make your way through the level and towards the star.

The Space Junk Galaxy introduced you to these two concepts as you used Pull Stars on Pull Star Path and Sling Pod's in Tarantox's Tangled Web. Calculations of trajectory have to be dead on in order to avoid flying into oblivion because if you are just a little off there's one life gone.
9. In the Fountain, how many Power Stars are gained by defeating an enemy and/or enemies? Include the Grand Star and the Sling Pod Galaxy

Answer: 6

The majority of these are obtained by one enemy. You fight Kamella, Tarantox, Topmaniac, and Bowser for all but one of these. The two that most people would probably forget is fighting Topmaniac again when a Daredevil comet is in orbit and the star entitled Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance in the Space Junk Galaxy.

When you fight Topmaniac when a Daredevil comet is in orbit you only have one health and there's no way to increase it. One hit and you lose a life. In most experiences, you will fight a boss if a Daredevil Comet is in orbit and you will be placed near the boss' fighting point.

In the rematch against Topmaniac, you are placed on the saucer that you fought Topmaniac against. In the star Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance, which is a secret star, you are placed on a planet shaped like a giant head of Yoshi. You must destroy every Goomba on this planet in order to get the star.

This could prove difficult as the Goombas do not produce any star bits or coins.
10. If you were going to add the time limits of each star that had a time limit, what amount of time would you have? Once again include Bowser's Star Reactor and the Sling Pod Galaxy.

Answer: six minutes and thirty seconds

There are three timed stars that there are to collect and neither of them are in Bowser's Star Reactor and the Sling Pod Galaxy. Those were just placed there to throw you off. The three stars are the Pull Star Path Speed Run which gives you four minutes to get the star the same way you did in the star called Pull Star Path.

The second is in the Battlerock Galaxy with the star Battlerock's Garbage Dump. You have thirty seconds to blow up all the garbage for the robot. This gives you a total of four minutes and thirty seconds.

The other two minutes are gained also in the Space Junk Galaxy with the star Purple Coin Spacewalk which gives you two minutes to walk on assembling debris to try and get 100 coins, ten coins on each platform. In the Fountain, including the Sling Pod Galaxy there are nine regular stars to get, two secret stars, one Grand Star, one Luigi Star, and four comet stars giving you a total of seventeen stars to collect in the fountain and the Sling Pod Galaxy.
