I know it's not a classic but I just read Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner and it's my favorite book ever. It might be the first book I'm willing to read twice. Reply #123. Feb 05 08, 7:57 PM |

A couple of great books by Jon Krakauer are very moving. Into the Wild was just made into a movie last year about a young man who gave away nearly all his possessions and money and went to live the life of a drifter. He touched a lot of people but the story has a tragic ending. It's a true story and a great book. Another Krakauer true story is Into Thin Air, the story of the 1996 Mt. Everest disaster. EXTREMELY creepy and heart-breaking, as a "routine" Everest summit attempt goes horribly wrong. Reply #124. Feb 06 08, 11:00 AM |

Oh, I forgot The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. That book is INCREDIBLY sad, but very sweet and touching, too. Reply #127. Feb 22 08, 4:27 PM |

I refuse to read books with sad endings. If I think there is a risk, I ask someone before I read it! Life is too short to be sad. I know I miss some great books, but it's just not worth it for me. Reply #135. Mar 14 08, 11:17 PM |

It isn't a sad book, but I cried in The Mediator when Jesse was exorcised. It was so sad because the main character really loved him. :'( Reply #140. Mar 30 08, 8:27 AM |
