Psnz, I thought I would ask this question about Challenge #182 since others might also have it. How broadly can we define "Bible story"? For instance, if the CW was about the Passion, conceivable clues could come from four different Gospels. Other stories might also come from more than one book. Reply #481. Jun 05 21, 6:38 PM |

@bernie73 I think events such as the Passion could be defined as a Bible story and would be quite acceptable. There are other events too, with multiple sources and I think this is an admirable approach. Peter (in New Zealand) Reply #482. Jun 05 21, 7:07 PM |

Well done LadyNym. I had done my research on that contract but had baulked about a topic I knew very little about before I saw the contract. A difficult task well executed. Reply #490. Jun 15 21, 1:04 AM |

Thank you for the kind words! I had had my eye on that contract for a while, but wanted to avoid writing about any of the "usual suspects" - i.e. empires that already had a number of quizzes about them. My quiz required a lot of research, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Reply #491. Jun 15 21, 4:01 AM |

Question for psnz - I thought I'd fulfilled the terms of contract 190, but the editor rightly pointed out that I only have 3 of the 5 required letters - I may have misread the contract, thinking that several of the letters would make an acceptable entry. I guess it's back to the drawing board? Reply #497. Jun 28 21, 4:04 PM |

The letters in question are J, K, Q, X and Z. You need to form a set of five words where each one contains a double of one those letters. So, there's another example: Double J: HAJJI Double K: BACKPACK Double Q: QUINQUE (a Virginian town in the US) Double X: MAXIXE (a Brazilian dance) Double Z: BUZZARD A website I've found useful here is: bestwordlist.com (the "Containing A & B" section). Even if you end up being "gazumped", I'd be very interested in playing any crossword you produce for this challenge. Reply #498. Jun 28 21, 7:59 PM |

Yes, I abandoned a finished one, because the main word in question brought up the clue on Google, but it wasn't backreferenced, so the clue didn't bring up the answer - that was my Q question, and the other missing letter was catered for on that one. I must have forgotten that bit of the criteria when I started again. I will submit this one as an ordinary submission, then start again, if it hasn't already been claimed. Thanks Reply #499.
