I would like to claim this: Contract #238 - 16 points: Write a quiz that is inspired by your favorite brand, but is not specifically about the brand. (by Ramonesrule) for this https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Music/Brand-X-Has-Music-406849.html "Brand X Has Music". Reply #624. Oct 09 21, 9:31 PM |

For the next contract, I propose "Look at the first quiz/crossword puzzle that you wrote for FunTrivia.. Keeping the same general topic, write a crossword puzzle/quiz in a format of your choice." What does this mean? Let me give you an example. My first crossword puzzle was "Famous Eagle Scouts" (Nov. 29, 2015). My first quiz was "3...2...1" (April 23, 2012) about the Solar System. I would write a crossword puzzle about the Solar System. Reply #625. Oct 09 21, 9:36 PM |

I see I'm first here with psnz's challenge, but I defer to Leith who was the first to go online. Reply #626. Oct 12 21, 8:48 PM |

New contract: if you have never written a crossword, here's your chance. Complete a small grid following FT guidelines. The category and style is completely up to you. If you have written crosswords before (up to fifty), you must create TWO new crosswords of any size. The grid does not need to be the same, however you may use the same grid if you wish. Both crosswords must be submitted in different categories. The categories you may choose from are the ones you have created the fewest number of crosswords for. If you have created more than fifty crosswords, then your two crossword grids must also be medium or large and symmetrical. Reply #629. Oct 12 21, 9:17 PM |

I would like to claim: Contract #253 - 4 points: Write a quiz in any sub-category that begins with the same letter or numeral as your FT username. (by Fifiona81) for my quiz "Day by Day the Brady Way" https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Television/Day-by-Day-the-Brady-Way-406927.html in the sub-category "Brady Bunch". For the next contract, I propose: "Write a crossword puzzle that would go into a subcategory that begins with the same letter or numeral as your FunTrivia name." In other words, if I wrote a crossword puzzle about the Brady Bunch it would qualify. Reply #630. Oct 13 21, 4:29 PM |

Do we have access to sub categories in crosswords, Bernie? Reply #631. Oct 14 21, 5:47 AM |

That's a good question. No, there are no sub-categories in crosswords. The contract is based on into which sub-category it would go if your crossword were a quiz with a similar theme. Reply #632. Oct 14 21, 8:00 AM |

Here's an example. A recent crossword that has been posted to the site is titled "A Confusion of Explorers". This cw is in the "People" topic. If it were a quiz it would be in "People: Explorers" sub-topic. Reply #633. Oct 14 21, 8:03 AM |

With my crossword editor hat on, the above challenge may be difficult to achieve. Whilst CW editors edits CWs on their ability to meet requirements to publish the quiz online, they do not edit CWs to determine if they meet criteria. In this particular challenge, with my author hat on, I would find a particular subcategory I want to concentrate on, incorporate the subcat into the title as a reminder and ensure all my on-theme words fall within the bounds of the subcats. As the challenge is peer-group judged with Kyle being the final arbiter, I would recommend the author of this challenge include a small justification when claiming the contract. My two cents' worth. I'm a bit confused. Do we use a category or sub-category, as you've used both in your example (Brady Bunch and People). Reply #635. Oct 14 21, 7:52 PM |

For a crossword puzzle, you can only choose a category. The "Brady Bunch" crossword I mentioned earlier would go under the category of Television. For the contract, I am imagining that crosswords could be placed in sub-categories and that those subcategories are identical to the choices available for quizzes. Reply #636. Oct 15 21, 6:58 AM |

I wonder if a quiz on Agatha Christie's Poirot novel of the same name would qualify, @leith90. Reply #639. Oct 17 21, 4:04 PM |

It seems I should have posted my challenge at the same time as my claim, so here it is: Write a quiz in the Animals category where all the correct answers have two, and no more than two, repeating letters. For example, kookaburra would be acceptable (2 of letters a, k, o and r) but cockatoo would not be (2 letters c, but 3 of o). Reply #640. Oct 19 21, 12:49 AM |
