Many remember that Michael Hayes sang "Badstreet USA," but what was the name of the album that song was released on? | Pro Wrestling and Music
|
Off the Streets. Off the Streets also has a cover of "The Boys are Back in Town." The album was released during the latter days of World Class Championship Wrestling in 1987. Hayes and different incarnations of the Freebirds used the song "Badstreet USA" throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Rick Rude. Rick Rude got his first big break in Fritz Von Erich's organization and was their first World Champion when they broke from the NWA in 1986. "Smooth Operator," performed by Sade, was Rude's music throughout his stint in the promotion, which lasted until 1987. All four men listed here have passed away.
"Smooth Operator" was released on Sade's 1984 debut album "Diamond Life."
The Eagles' song "Desperado" was commonly used in video clips of which wrestler during his days in Extreme Championship Wrestling? | Pro Wrestling and Music
|
Terry Funk. ECW frequently used famous songs for video clips, instead of using in-house producers. "Desperado" was used for Funk primarily in 1994-95. "Desperado" has been on several Eagles' compilation albums over the last 25 years. It was first released on the album "Desperado" in 1973.
The Patriot. Anyone who has recently watched the Pay Per View of the first Hell in the Cell Match (1997) will notice the Patriot's familiar theme music. The Patriot's stint in the WWF was only about a year long as injuries forced him to retire. The song was made by an in house studio. The Patriot used this in his short run in the promotion in 1997. Kurt Angle has used it since shortly after his debut in the promotion in late 1999.
Rap. The short-lived West Texas Rednecks (Hennig, Bobby Duncum, Jr., the Windhams) sang "Rap is Crap." Oddly, Hennig was the only one not from Texas. The song was used in the latter days of WCW on "WCW Mayhem-The Music" in 2000. The West Texas Rednecks were disbanded by the end of the year.
You may know that Freddie Blassie sang "Pencil Neck Geek," but it was also on a full-length album by him. What was its name? | Pro Wrestling and Music
|
I Bite the Songs. The album, released in 1977 was re-released as a photo album by Rhino in 1982, with Blassie on both sides. The album also included various promos.
Rick Derringer. Rick Derringer sang on "Demolition," a song for the tag team. This too was released on the WWF's second wrestling album (Piledriver) in 1987. He's best known for "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo." Demolition used this music for the duration of their run in the promotion (1987-1991).
Honky Love. "Honky Love" was debuted at "Wrestlemania 6" with Honky's partner Greg Valentine. This was not released as part of an album and with Honky's departure from the promotion shortly thereafter, this was no longer used as a theme song.
"I'm the Mountie" was replaced with "We're not the Mounties.". After the Royal Canadian Mounted Police griped about the gimmick of The Mountie, the Quebecers were soon formed. The only difference in the music besides the opening line is, instead of saying "I'm the Mountie and I enforce the law" it said "We're not the Mounties because we enforce the law." Ouch! The total length of both gimmick runs were about 4 years in the first half of the 1990s. Like most music in the WWF, this was produced in house.
Sensational Sherri. Sherri became his manager shortly after Michaels split from Marty Janetty in the early 1990s. When she was released, he cut a version himself. Neither were released at the time on wrestling albums.
